NVDA continued to work just fine while the orientation had the screen upside down.
The combination control+alt+up arrow was not working to flip the screen orientation back to normal.
Then I re-booted the laptop thinking this would set things back to normal, but it did not.
So, I unloaded NVDA and then used control+alt+up arrow and that did the trick making the screen return to the normal orientation. I re-started NVDA after that.
This laptop is running Windows 7 and my NVDA is the most recent regular release. Strange.

Re: Windows key combination to change screen orientation

the windows key combination is ctrl+alt+up or down arrow. since it is
the sa shortcut for table navigation in NVDA, you press insert+f2 then
press ctrl+alt+up arrow.

Re: Windows key combination to change screen orientation

It has been said that CTRL+ALT+UP ARROW (or one of the arrow keys, depending on what the orientation currently is and how it's flipped) will work, but they don't on my Windows 10 system

If you're running Windows 10 I would suggest that you go to Settings, System, Display Pane then find the Orientation dropdown and choose "Landscape" from the choices, as virtually all monitors and laptop screens are set to show a screen that's wider than it is tall, and that's Landscape.  I just played with both Portrait options and both Landscape options and straight Landscape (not flipped Landscape) is "the normal screen."

I've been on the hunt for a desktop application that would hook into the
API. why? well, because it is a really great way for writers,
independent writers, to create their own content and get paid for it.
The below is the closest thing I could find. I've been told it's very
accessible on the Mac, but I have no idea personally. I'm sharing this
here just in case anyone would know of someone remotely interested in
creating a windows version. Publishing through Google docs works very
well, but I like writing offline, without a browser open.

Re: Integrating an existing website with Wordpress

Hello, John. I'm assuming (& that's always dangerous, because you know
what you do when you do that), that you're wanting to keep the
existing site but make a supplemental site in addition to it, ie, a
blog, a store, or similar. So what you do here is install WordPress to
a separate subdirectory, ie, blog, store, etc. Then, code a link to
the WordPress site on your homepage's menu, & you're good to go.

Hi all.  I am facing a strange issue with Thunderbird and that is when I

am composing mail directly with it, NVDA seems to lag horribly.  NOw I

can't tell if it is TB's or NVDA's fault, or some setting in tb that I

should change.  This occurs not only when I am typing but also when I am

reviewing the message I am writing. No matter if I arrow left or right,

or ctrl+arrow left or right, the lag seems to be there all the time.  So

is it just me experiencing this or is this a Tb or NVDA problem?  Just

as a note, this horrible lag only happens with TB.  If some help is

forthcoming, i would greatly appreciate it.  Cheers!

It appears that once you are on the status bar, this is a tool bar and that to see what is shown, you need to use the right and left arrows, as you would to move through a standard tool bar.

Press f6 to get to the status bar.  If the word
count isn't displayed, press the applications key
and arrow through the display  choices to activate the word count.

At 06:33 AM 10/15/2018, you wrotBut using that
command reads the entire status bar and it is
very difficult, if possible at all, to pick out
that one number from all the other
information.  However, if you read the status
line, that moves the NVDA review location to the
status line.  So, if you figure out what order
the information is presented, you can review the
line item by item and determine the number.

Cheers!
