There's a keyboard shortcut for making a new folder? Wow. I've ben using
computers since 2002and none of my trainers have taught me this. How long
as this little gem ben around.

CONTROL plus SPACE, then JAWS (or other screen reader) should say, “Not

2. Press Applications/Menu Key or SHIFT plus F10, and Arrow down to the
New Submenu, then press ENTER.

3. ARROW down to Shortcut then press ENTER.

4. When it asks you to type the location of the shortcut, type:
%windir%\explorer.exe shell:Appsfolder

5. TAB to the Next button then press ENTER.

6. When it asks for a name for the shortcut, press the DELETE key then
type: AppsFolder

7. TAB to the Finish button, then press ENTER.

8. Now, on your desktop, you will have a shortcut that reads: AppsFolder

9. If you press ENTER on this shortcut, a special Windows system folder
will open containing all of your apps.

10. Now, create any shortcut for an app as follows:

11. Press ENTER on the AppsFolder icon.

12. Use First-letter Navigation to find and select the app for which you
want the shortcut on your desktop.

13. ARROW down to Create Shortcut, then press ENTER.

14. When it tells you that a shortcut can’t be created here, and it asks
if you want a shortcut on the desktop, press ENTER on Yes.

15. That’s it. Now you will have a shortcut for your desired app on the
desktop, along with the AppsFolder shortcut, which you can use later when
you need to create another desktop shortcut.

Hi

Microsoft now own Skype so the app version ships with Windows 10. If you
press windows+r and type shell:appsfolder, this will list all apps on your
machine. Press the letter s to jump down to apps beginning with s and keep
pressing s until you land on Skype. Press enter to run it. If you haven't
run this version before there may be some initial set-up to do but it will
linkyou to your existing Skype account if you have one.

I'm trying to get skype to work on windows 10. I went to download it but it
says I have already got it. I did buy office 365 and I have skype for
business. Is that the same thing as normal skype?

Or as a handy calculator, since it can easily be accessed through NVDA
control Z, just make sure you pass both floats if you expect a float in
return, so in other words, don't do 5/2 and look strange when it says 2
rather than 2.5. This limitation has been removed in python 3, and NVDA can
still do it, I think you have to import something and do something else,
but for general use, just make sure all numbers are floats if you're
looking for a float in return.

I just did and it seems to have solved some hanging and other issues in various apps, most strange.

As far as I understood the portable creation process, you put in d:\nvda and it did it.

This allows you to make different places to store nvda.


On the other hand if users want it I wander if that could be an option, make a portable on a drive or choose a parth and make a custom portable in another location.

It would need an extra listbox somewhere and maybe a few lines of code but I'd imagine a simple adjustment.

Hi everyone,

In a few hours I’ll release Windows 10 App Essentials 18.06 and 18.05.3. Due to vast differences in some code sections, both will be released at the same time, targeting different NVDA versions:

• 18.05.3: NVDA 2018.1.1 and earlier.
• 18.06: NVDA 2018.2 RC and later (including stable version).

Please follow the below procedure from start to finish:

1. Windows 10 App Essentials 18.05.3 will hit the air first. Please use add-on update check facility to check for this version.
2. Shortly afterwards (in a matter of minutes), version 18.06 will hit the air. If you happen to be using 18.05.3 and find that version 18.06 is offered: say “yes” if you are using NVDA 2018.2 RC or snapshot builds; say “no” if you need to keep 2018.1.1 or earlier around until 2018.2 hits the air.
3. If you accidentally install 18.06 on a computer running NVDA 2018.1.1, or install 18.05.3 on systems with NVDA 2018.2, don’t worry – procedures are in place to help you upgrade/downgrade to appropriate release. I’ll provide direct links for those who need them.
4. Once NVDA 2018.2 stable hits the air, add-on 18.06 will be offered to everyone.

The above procedure does not apply if you are using development snapshots of this add-on (both regular and pilot variants). However, due to code differences between regular and pilot snapshots, regular development snapshots will be paused for a while. Once NVDA 2018.2 hits the air, development snapshot variants will merge back into a single variant – regular builds until a new NVDA snapshot calls for separating the variants again.
