I also posted this on the blind tech list and I kind of got bashed I guess that some people feel that we should not express our problems when they should know better there is just no excuse for this problem to occure especially on a blindness site they should be ashamed of themselves. Their site should be accessable for all screen readers and all brousers.

Hi, I am using NVDA latest version and Thunderbird 60.
Now, when I am composing new email and if I have attached files to the email, if I tap after the subject field to read the attachments, NVDA didn't read the file names.
I am not sure if this is a NVDA bug or thunderbird bug.

Hi

Disable the add on then then if nvda speeds up if this is the case it is
most probably the add on

If when you enable the add on again and it slows down then there is the
answer.

Re: accessible sms texting from windows with NVDA

Aman Singer

Hi,

All the solutions I mention below are for Windows. The only requirement for a phone is when you want your messages to appear as if they come from your mobile number. That is, if you want to type your messages into your Windows machine and have those messages show up on the recipient's device with your mobile number as the from number, you will need a phone. As I said though, if you don't care about that, any VOIP service that offers SMS will work.

Hi,

If you have an Android device, try Pulse SMS
http://www.pulsesms.com/
Its web site works well though, in my experience, the app doesn't.
I know of no way to do this from the iPhone or another phone type,
unfortunately. Obviously, if you want to do this from a number other than
that of your phone, that is, if you don't care about your SMS appearing
from, and replies to those messages going to, a number different from your
own phone number, you can use any of the VOIP services. See, just for
accessible examples

Hi, I'm pretty sure you can use email to do this if you get the
carrier's address right. Here's a link on how to do this.
https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/how-to-send-a-text-from-your-email-account/
Basically, you open up your email client and put the number you're
sending to in followed by the carriers SMS gateway address.

Hi,

I have been looking into doing this. However, there are so many
choices I am uncertain which to choose.

Has anyone else figured out any of the apps and services that are
accessible using NVDA to do SMS texting from a Windows system? If so
which are accessible and easy to use?

Thanks.

Re: accessible sms texting from windows with NVDA

Hi. If you use Android, try Android Messages by Google. You'll need to download the app from the Play Store. Once you do, tap the more options button at the top right of the screen. Then, tap the Messages for Web option. Go to https://messages.android.com/ on your computer. Your phone should tell you that you can scan the QR code on the website to start texting from your computer. Press the scan QR code button and then scan the code on your computer screen with your phone. After that, you can send and receive texts on your computer. I hope this helps.
