Re: Introducing Add-on Updater: check, download, apply add-onupdates #addonrelease

Hi,

Follow-up: in the end, I plan to teach Windows 10 App Essentials to respect Add-on Updater and yield add-on update feature to Add-on Updater. At the moment this cannot be done because Windows 10 App Essentials will use a custom check to detect if you need regular or pilot development snapshots.

Cheers,

Joseph

Hi,

The add-on lives in Tools menu, not Preferences. Windows 10 App Essentials won’t be updated through this add-on because that add-on already has add-on update facility.

Hi, all.  Well, at the risk of sounding puzzled, I have the add-on mentioned in the subject line installed.  Yet when I check the preferences menu, I can’t find the add-on in the list.  I only can find the Windows 10 essentials add-on.  Thinking it wasn’t installed correctly, I installed the add-on again and found out that the add-on was already installed and do I wish to install it again.  Everybody else is able to use the add-on, so what am I doing wrong to try to run it.  Could it be that because I only have the Windows 10 essentials add-on installed that the updater add-on can’t run or doesn’t show in the list of add-ons?  Oh, btw, the add-on is installed in a folder called downloads where I have various and sundry executables.  Thanks.

Hi Joseph!

Thank you so much for posting and your work on the NVDA add-on updater It works perfectly.

Wow, this is a dream I had for NVDA for the past three years.

This is huge, and will be really awesome when it gets into the NVDA core.

I was so excited last year when the NVDA store French add-on was talked about at last year’s NVDA Con. I am glad we now have something even better.

I am really praying for NVDA to be just as popular in the work place as commercial screen readers!

Thank you so much, all the NVDA community!

Re: Introducing Add-on Updater: check, download, apply add-on updates #addonrelease

probably.

However to be honest, I think both nvda and other addon updaters should have some way to have different level of setting like microsoft used to have.

1.  install updates.

2.  download updates and once done ask you to install them and 3, notify you if one exists maybe with an extra tone, you could have an alarm for a critical update, another noise for one that may not be so bad and something else if its just a non required thing whatever.

I am also wandering if nvda could have incromental updates depending on what is being updated for space and the like and speed to though that may not always work.

But in the cases where we had 18.03.1 and .2, and the a b c d e f versions, a patch would have worked in that situation.

Re: MS Onenote

To be honest I am unsure if its easy to work with but while its not fully accessible for storage, you can get up to 2tb on icloud, true it does cost a bundle but still.

Everyone with a gmail gets a google drive.

One drive is probably the best even over dropbox because its part of the system.

OneNote is more a tool for dumping information in a more freeform way than

use that, but I think perhaps you were thinking of OneDrive rather than
OneNote.
