I was beginning to think it was just a way to keep the programmers busy and still in work. Just like machines will soon be able to design their own replacements, I'd expect intelligent software to be able to design the next generation of software as well.

Does anyone have any idea why they would want to keep changing the

Windows+V, then press Enter to answer.
The list of shortcut keys for Skype universal app can be found at:

lazy.
Nice folks though.

I stopped using it because, like another poster, I couldn't figure out
how
to answer calls and such, plus it seems like it needed to be open to
really
do anything with it, and it wouldn't minimize to the system tray or
such. It
was also slow, e.g. at bringing up conversations, and it didn't seem to
read
them very well. It tended to read multiple messages when you arrowed
around.
I freely admit part of this might be my inability to use it, which is
why I
asked for documentation from Microsoft. But all the documentation I can
find
seems to be for the old skype. I got tired of messing with it and went
back
to old skype.

I have used NVDA successfully with Skype for many years.
Suddenly, tonight, on my Windows 7 laptop, when I entered
Skype, a new version was forcibly installed, something like
Version 8.1.2, and it presented me with an interface that I
could not comprehend with NVDA. None of the shortcut keys
that I previously used would work. I received a call from a
friend right after this forced installation and could not
answer it, because the usual alt-PageUp key combo for
answering a call was useless, as were all other previous
shortcut keys. What is the solution to this problem. I
totally uninstalled Skype for now. Do we give up on Skype as
NVDA
users, or install a different version or perhaps some other
chat

Mathematic equations and NVDA

Goly Rabbanim <goly@...>

Hello Dear Group;

I am searching for your advices about using NVDA for Mathematic symbols.
I have a statistic course instructed on MOODLE learning management system.
most of the content in this course is coming from PDF.
in addition there are many Math symbols written on the web site.
Some of them just copy pasted from word.
I really need reliable updated links to read and learn how to make all the content accessible for screen reader for my student.

Thanks in Advance.

Thanks. I'll stick with either Foobar 2000 or VLC then. So far, Foobar is winning, except for all of the customization work you have to do setting up your own hotkeys.

Re: New Skype Installation a Complete Disaster!

Well skype classic is listed in tablets for windows, for myself skype classic for what I use it for is fine.

I don't use it that much.

In fact when it finally actually goes away my plan will be to switch to whats app on a new smart device and maybe use skype on there to.

I just can't record from my smart device to pc unless that there are recorder solutions for that.

This is why the classic is the best approach. I'd imagine while there still are loads of users of Windows 7 out there, they won't abandon the older version. In fact in my windows 7 updates I see any update to Skype is flagged as optional, which suits me fine in fact as I just deleted the bloomin thing. I don't use it enough to need its iternal meddling with sound settings ehen its run.

Lost USB connection with braille display after resuming from Windows 10 lock screen

Jason White

Testing with a Freedom Scientific (now VFO) Focus 40 Blue braille display, NVDA 2017.4 and the latest Windows 10 1709 release, if I switch to the Windows 10 lock screen and then allow the host computer and the braille display to suspend, the display is not detected after resuming from suspend. The only solution I found was to restart NVDA, after which the display was again detected.

Can anyone else reproduce this issue?

I can test with a Baum display as well, but I haven’t done so yet.

I agree that, when ready, they should be integrated into NVDA itself.

Hey,

In my opinion the improvements are so significant, they should doubtless be implemented in NCDA‘s core.

I’ve downloaded and installed BrailleExtender, which offers a much needed and impressive improvement to NVDA’s braille display support.

While there are still quality issues to be addressed with the braille support, this work reveals considerable improvement and excellent work by the community. Any NVDA user with a braille display should install the add-on, read its documentation and test it.

Hi everyone,

On behalf of NVDA add-ons community, I’m delighted to welcome two new add-ons toe community add-ons list:

  • BraileExtender adds much needed improvements to NVDA’s braille support (stable).
  • * IndentNav is a handy add-on to navigate around documents with indented text more easily, very useful for programmers and others who needs to work with such text often (development testing).

Add-on entries:

Enjoy.

Cheers,

Joseph

Re: Malware remover working with NVDA

Antony Stone

Please create a new thread for new questions - don't reply to an existing
topic and change the subject.

This matters greatly to people who uses threaded readers, because the new
question appears in the context of the old thread, when it had nothing to do
with that thread, and it does not show up as a new top-level start of a thread
as it should.

Thanks,

Antony.

provide an option to not ignore images with null alt text. Of course,
NVDA could only speak the filename of the graphic. If this option
existed, I would want to know if the image encountered would be one with
null alt text. I would assume the state of this option would be disabled
and that a user could enable it when desired.

Regarding collapsed vs expanded. Visually, when a section can be expanded
(hence, it is collapsed) a plus sign is displayed. Visually, a user
could click on the plus sign to expand the section or menu. Also, when a
section is expanded, a minus sign is displayed allowing a user to click
on the minus sign to collapse the tree. This is why your braille display
displays the way it does. The plus and minus characters do not indicate
the state of the tree or menu, but the action that can be taken.

There is also the malicious tool removal. From the run dialog box, type mrt.exe and hit enter and follow the prompts.

yes, I can accept your explanation of the plus sign.

about graphic,

I think it is a link to the graphic will be like this,
but if it is a simple graphic have not link and set onclick event on it,
we will lost it when use nvda screen reader.

Hi all:

I have two suggestions about nvda browse on website.

First, nvda will be lost graphic when the graphic has no any "alt
text", example: alt = "" or no alt attribute.
this design let us no method click it (if is can onclick) or make
something for this graphic (if download the graphic) because this
graphic is gone in nvda's world, so I hope nvda still show this
graphic by "gra" or some signed, tell us graphic has exists.
I think if later nvda can do the mark on the graph, then the graph
should be displayed anyway.

Second, the wai-aria attribute "aria-expanded" show condition is
put upside down.
if aria-expanded = false, nvda will announce "collapsed" is right
but braille display show "+" (plus), if aria-expanded = true, nvda
will announce "expanded" is right but braille display show "-"
(minus).
Is not the plus and minus the opposite display?
or I would like to know why the plus sign is collapsed and minus is
expanded yet?
Because this thinking seems to be somewhat different from our Asians.
