Re: Interacting with mouse over links using NVDA?
Gene
Also, I doubt that having something appear on a web page or change is classified as a focus change. it is a change on the page, and unless there is something like JAVA script on the page to force you to that place, as Google forces you into the edit field when you open the home page to do a search, I don't think the screen-reader will react. Look at live regions on web pages. If there changing information were defined by the screen-reader as a new focus point, you would be constantly losing your place when trying to work with the page.

I doubt this can be generalized. What if the menu or whatever structure or additional information occurs on a very different part of the page. Your screen-reader won't read the information automatically and you have no idea where to look. often, when I played with the JAWS mouseover feature, I would hear information such as screen changed at line 11. I hope on the web page you are working with, moving the mouse to the link is useful.

Re: Any way to decrease NVDA sounds except the voice?
Daniel Damacena
You need to edit the sounds themselves.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Go to c:\program files (x86)\nvda\waves There you'll find the sounds. I usually edit them with audacity. After you replace the sounds with the new ones, you restart the screen reader. Em 17/08/2020 11:41, Cleverson Casarin Uliana escreveu:

strange issues need help.
ken lawrence
Hi list ken here for the last several weeks I have all of the sudden had very strange issues with mix cloud. The stranges of all today. To make a long complicated story short it’s as if NVDA has lost it’s sight and ability to focus on mixcloud. This morning trying to upload a show when it should have been finished it’s as if I haden’t done it I hit confirm name to start the upload and while waiting for it to finish read newsline. When I went back the choose file button was still there not the completed upload ready for tagging and publishing. Then when I tried it again when I hit confirm name suddenly one of my older shows started to play. I am therefore suspending use of mixcloud until further notice. Is there an NVDA add on for this site and if not is there another better place to archive my older radio shows. Very very strange.

Hi. Not to worry. I am an avid user of Opera as well, and I too
am not getting my address's bar propperly read by NVDA. And Jaws
doesn't read it as well, so I am confident it is an Opera issue
which I have written about to the developers. Cheers!

Re: can someone help me please?
Quentin Christensen
I can't give you a workaround (except that the address bar is still working normally, - eg you can type, select, cut and paste in it as you would expect, it is just not being read), but I have written up an issue for it:
https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/11503 I have Opera installed but must admit I really don't use it very often to have noticed exactly when this changed. Quentin.

Thanks. I wasn't thinking of filter as meaning the same thing as search. I missed the command when I was looking through where I thought it might be.

The file to manually change NVDA commands
Gene
Years ago, I knew the name of the file that NVDA uses to store its keyboard commands. I want to change a command that isn't in the commands provided in the input gestures available in preferences.
I want to change the command to read the status line. What is the name of the file? Thanks for the help. Gene

Re: Interacting with mouse over links using NVDA?
Gene
It may cause the action to take place but you won't know what or where it is. NVDA doesn't support mouseover. My impression is that it is so rarely necessary in using sites that it isn't supported except in JAWS.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
When you issue the mouseover command in JAWS, JAWS tells you where a change occurred on what line. You then use the go to line command to see what the change is. You then use another command to return to your previous position. NVDA has none of these functions. While I would think that moving the mouse to the link might carry out the action, as I said, you won't know anything about it. Gene

Hey Akash
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
1. Move your focus to the position of the element that has the mouse over actions. 2. Move the mouse pointer to that position with NVDA + / on the number pad (desktop mode) or NVDA + Shift + M (laptop mode). This should display mouse over actions. Note that I am assuming that the navigator object is set to follow focus changes, which is the default behaviour. You can clarify this if necessary in the Review Cursor settings or toggle this behaviour on or off with NVDA + 7. All the best. Ben
