To get a reasonable experience in iTunes with NVDA you need to sort your library by Songs and not the default which is probably album or Artist.

Once the song view is enable  you can then go to the view menu and enable column browser which transform the iTunes experience into something reasonable.

It may take a while for your yhour library to load on lkstart up if your library is   large but after that as others have said the experience with NVDA is pretty good.

YOU just cursor to artist and then tab into the albvum column and then tab into the songs column and press enter to start playing music.

Space for pause, control alt and left and right arrows for fast forward and rewind.

Context menu is also accessible on songs and other areas of the program.

Use control F to jump to the search area dwhich will give easy tab access to other areas of iTunes.

I was obliged to do the following:

When I opened the webmetronome site, I failed to make it work. I did the shift-tabbing to find a button called View site information. I opened it and observed that my Flash was not allowed on the site while tabbing around in that area. When I allowed it on the site, It started working for me. It meant that it was possible for me to use the site by means of any browser I used at that time. I had tested the site before recommending it, and found that it worked.

Re: New custom NVDA Add-on. Who ask to?

Didier Colle

Dear Daniele,

As far as I understands, the plover software translates a key stroke from the steno machine into a series of multiple regular keyboard key strokes.

I believe it is crucial to know what serie of regular key strokes are generated when you perform such a delete: is it just multiple times a backspace, or is it creating a selection (e.g., multiple times generating a <SHIFT>+<LEFT ARROW>) followed by a <DELETE> or <BACKSPACE> key stroke, or even something else.

Given my very limited free time, I did not have the opportunity to dive in the plover code. If you could have the developers give a description on this, that would be very helpful to do any testing from an NVDA point of view.

If I leave it checked, once pressed the "delete" button, NVDA reads just one letter of the deleted syllable.
That suggests to me that plover probably generates multiple backspaces (or multiple delete key strokes).
Is it always reliably one character spoken? Always the first or last character deleted? Or the character following the deletion?

Kind regards,

Didier

If I leave it checked, once pressed the "delete" button, NVDA reads just one letter of the deleted syllable.

Anyway, I have to leave it unchecked, otherwise I encounter other problems, the main one is that typing punctuation stops the voice. While I need that punctuation doesn't stop the voice and also it isn't red. I can obtein this only if I leave that option unchecked.

I'll contact the steno application developers and ask if they can contact you.

Tell him he should make sure he is loged in as an admin when removing and

be
related to the graphic card and the graphic driver, although this is very
unprobable because in that case he would have issues in other software as

Are there any antivirus restrictions which put firefox in a sandbox or

they
are not reporting problems. In fact, in a meeting with our team on
Wednesday, I asked if anyone else was running into the problem and no one
else was. My colleague did say that one of the developers he works with
is
having the same problem.

He has tried deleting and re-installing both NVDA 2017.4 and Firefox 57
and then re-installing them. He says he believes that removing NVDA didn’t
remove everything because when he re-installed it immediately started
using the software synthesizer he had previously switched to using. I don’t
know if he deleted the Firefox settings when he removed and re-installed
Firefox 57—I will mention that to him today.

Based on what everyone has said so far, it doesn’t sound like it should
be
the DLL’s. However, I may suggest he try options related to the DLL’s
(if
deleting the Firefox settings doesn’t work) since nothing else has worked
so far.

While he can still conduct testing using Chrome and IE, I really want to
help him fix it so he can use Firefox—since NVDA and Firefox are the
screen reader/browser combination we tend to use as the core of our
accessibility testing.only

I'm not sure. If the dlls are unregistered, does that cause the same
problems in Chrome and Internet Explorer? If so, and if these other

dll files and my guess about the cause of the problem is incorrect.

Hi Tim

If it said some thing like unknown under the running programs part on the
task bar when you went across the icons or it spoke nothing as you
arrowed
down the applications menu then i would guess some dlls have been
unregistered.

You would also get unknown or pane in your browser or most browsers
instead of edge on windows 10.

I do have a page on on my website that may help but do not think it is
that bug.

When you uninstalled mozilla fire fox was there any bookmarks you really
needed there?

If not some times a uninstall of mozilla fire fox in windows then doing
the following will fix the problem.

Press the windows key + letter R then the run dialogue will come up. In
it
type the following %appdata% then press the enter key. Locate the folder
for I am not sure what the foler would be called but on my machine it is
called mozilla the folder will have to be deleted out then close the
screen with the alt + f4 key. You have just deleted out the settings for
mozilla fire fox. I am sure that is what it will be called on your
machine.

Now reinstall mozilla fire fox and hopefully that would fix the problem.

I had some ting like that happen a couple of years back only on that
program and doing the above fixed it.

If it sounds like the other one mentioned i can put in the steps to fix
it
if it is that which it does not sound like it is. Just let me know.

I'll pass this over to other Tbird experts, but are you using Imap or pop3 collection? If its Imap then not a lot you can do about it, but Pop3 should be able to be filtered by rules you set up so the returns go to another folder of your choice.

Tell him he should make sure he is loged in as an admin when removing and
reinstalling it. I personally thimk the issue is being caused by a firefox
addon or plugin. I am not having this problem on windows 7 sp1. It might be
related to the graphic card and the graphic driver, although this is very
unprobable because in that case he would have issues in other software as
well.

Are there any antivirus restrictions which put firefox in a sandbox or
something like that?

Firefox. He was able to do that and NVDA read the menu items correctly.
He also does not experience the problem when he uses Chrome or Internet
Explorer 11. We also have other people using NVDA with Firefox 57 and they
are not reporting problems. In fact, in a meeting with our team on
Wednesday, I asked if anyone else was running into the problem and no one
else was. My colleague did say that one of the developers he works with is
having the same problem.

Based on what everyone has said so far, it doesn’t sound like it should be
the DLL’s. However, I may suggest he try options related to the DLL’s (if
deleting the Firefox settings doesn’t work) since nothing else has worked

If so, and if these other
browsers work properly, then there would be no point in registering the
dll files and my guess about the cause of the problem is incorrect.

Hi Tim

If it said some thing like unknown under the running programs part on the
task bar when you went across the icons or it spoke nothing as you arrowed
down the applications menu then i would guess some dlls have been
unregistered.

In it
type the following %appdata% then press the enter key.

If it sounds like the other one mentioned i can put in the steps to fix it
if it is that which it does not sound like it is. Just let me know.

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to make suggestions on how to resolve this problem.

His problem is still not resolved. However, he hasn't been able to try re-registering the DLL's and switching to Firefox ESR is not an option for us. Both of those things have more to do with the limitation of our tech support. So we'll have to resort to solving those problems by persuading and educating our tech support first.

Again--thanks to everyone who responded. I greatly appreciate it!

Thanks,
Tim

Re: nvda is silence when use a few hours

Brian's Mail list account <bglists@...>

But you said espeak does not work either so to me this sounds like a sound driver issue. Do other sounds go off as well, or just nvda? Does nvda show up in the applet that lets you adjust volumes from running programs when this fault occurs.
Has it ever worked correctly and have any updates been done to the machine recently?
I fully understand about logs as they can show personally info from screens etc.
However if the software shows no errors and you see that its speaking stuff in the log then the most likely causes are the synth, or the drivers for the sound. Does the machine only present this effect if its been in sleep or standby?
I've come across this when some drivers seem to not work properly after the restart.
I'll leave it to others to see if they can suggest anything else. This effect seems to be mostly on laptops from my experience.

As I say, if espeak won't work either in this situation it rather points to something odd about handling of sound from nvda generally. Do beeps still work?

Subject: [nvda] nvda is silence when use a few hours

hi all:

A few days ago I went to a workplace to deal with a visually impaired staff on nvda problems.
This is the case, he usually use vocalizer as a speech synthesizer, after the computer is used for a period of time,
May be a few hours, or resume from protection mode to work for an hour or two, nvda can not read aloud, the operation is normal, but in this case,
He can not load any speech synthesizer, including espeak ng.
Even if you restart nvda can not solve this problem until you restart your computer.
Because of his work in the bank, which is very stringent security, including no external network, nor can any file out of the company,
So I can not get nvda.log slowly study or paste it for your reference.
Check the status of the nvda.log in the field, some of nvwave shows some errors, such as 88 lines and so on.
I think this situation happens once or twice a day. I do not know whether these experts have any opinions or opinions on this situation.
His nvda version is 2017.3 operating system is win7 32 bit.
I would have liked him first to work with another synthesizer to see if this would still be the case, but he told me he was used to the sound of this speech synthesizer.
Thank you for your advice

Actually David its not. Not in my case and like you I use NVDA. IIt takes forever and a day to get all of my Apple Music library loaded after you run iTunes. This Apple needs to address, but I doubt they will.

It really does great, better than JAWS. NVDA is so snappy in iTunes, and you can down arrow through your songs really fast.
