Error with NVDA next

Running latest Next version of NVDA on a Win 10 64 bit with all updates.
Using Google Chrome as my browser. I get the following errors logged when opening most web pages.

When you say reset, what does that mean?  Did you do a system restore, or use the feature that places a clean copy of Windows on the machine and you told the feature to keep all your programs?  Or are you using the word reset to mean something else?

Which reminds me. A question from our office at the blind society. they are going to move from Office 365 to 2016, for reasons of being annoyed by the former, and wondered if doing this might break any screenreaders sometimes used by volunteers. Being as there does seem to be a history of problems with office, i wondered if anyone had tried this change and whether it went smoothly?

The other thing I meant to ask, had you uninstalled anything else? It
looks like the issue was a DLL file being unregistered inadvertently and
uninstalling something is usually the culprit there. Microsoft Office
particularly is a bad one for that.

1. It's not USB. Roger said that what he's referring to as his "portable"
version is in fact on an internal hard disk. I know that may seem an odd use
of the word "portable", but at least it means we can rule out any problems to
do with externally connected devices.

version of NVDA, because the "portable" copy is on a traditional spinning-rust

One of the issues is that often ssd removable media like memory cards and sticks often get removed before a cache is written, so if this causes corruption the original software will still work but the messing about of the operating system attempting to avoid the less good bits can slow it down.Certainly one other thing to bear in mind is if you are using an external hub, and its plugged into a usb 3 port it does not follow that the ports on the hub will work that fast.

I've also noticed that not all usb 3 sticks are equal in their speeds eeither, some seem to take an age to initialise but work fine thereafter others seem to glitch.
You can do a drive check from windows though and can often fix any corruption but be aware it can make the software unreadable. My suggestion is to run a portable coy for a while on the same drive as an installed on, if it still continues at the same speed over time then you can almost certainly blame the stick or usb port for the slow down.

So not clear what the difference is between the two, but to me it sounds like the dll had become unregistered and now its registered again.
I used to get this issue a lot with dlls belonging to the mp3 decoder used by Goldwave when Winamac was on the system. in the end I had to copy another copy to the right place then register that with the system and it has never complained since. My feeling is that its easy to get multiple entries in the registry or delete ones that have path details needed by a different piece of soft3ware. Brian

not sure if installing jaws 18 fixed the jaws 2018 dll issue with nvda can any one please confirm this am trying to figure out if I need to send a nvda log with the error that it was giving me

something screwy is conflicting I mean I got the issue fixed for now but I need to see if I am the only one having this issue if not then I think a bug needs to be filed.

if I am the only one running in to this issue what can I do to help track this issue?

Yeah, you need to tab twice to a checkbox and uncheck it and just make sure to do it the first time round else you will have to exit and relaunch the installer.

ccleaner is part of avast now so we are stuck with it now.

You just have to be awake, the first tab will mention something about security, tab again and there is the checkbox, overshoot and the installer will look like normal and you have to exit and come back in.

I usually update first thing in the morning but if you are half a sleep you will probably miss it.

Sadly a friend used a lot of free cleaners, cleanmaster, puron, ccleaner, and his admin decided that all the free software he loaded including ccleaner was malware filled.

And told him to use norton which his work uses.

Trouble is the interface is rather to complex.

For whatever reason some of my friends used norton at home and still use it.

Especially with the cpu slowdowns and patches, norton is just not something I'd use.

I shouldn't have to remove jaws demo to get nvda to work there are still some apps that work better in jaws.

Hi Alexandre ,

It was not that as clear to recognize some of the pictures but, somehow they are like similar in terms of recognition. I think in the orientation or the platform on mobile is not similar as for desktop or laptop. Though, you may still try the OCR still by activating the narrator, then once you heard the voice of the narrator you simply used the key command to capture the image by pressing Shift plus Caps lock plus D. Again, you have to make sure that the cursor is pointed to the graphics and the narrator gives you some description but, again not that full to describe images with compare of the Seeing AI app for mobile. I still believe that this will be more improves on the future releases of Windows 10. For now that is the only thing I've got for you or perhaps others could shed some details for this one.

This is an application developed for iOS yet. You can find it in the AppStore by searching "Seeing AI". And it is free.
Microsoft said it could also come on Android.
