The fact is that i have 2018.1, and have forced it to look for updates this morning and its saying no update available, so how do you explain this? Its no personal slight, its the fact that obviously something is screwy here. Could it be that its only offering the update to the users running windows 10?
Seems a little odd as windows 7 does not have these voices so it would make no difference one way or the other!
Maybe some of us are in a parralell universe? :-)

Thank you Chris.

I mean, honestly, when you write attempting to confirm something in good
faith, you would think that people would check the website, check for
updates, check in-process, before blindly disputing what somebody has
spent time to send. Honestly, people, do have a little common sense.

And the actual fact is, nobody has posted anything here even about the rc being around as far as I can tell.
its not really sufficient to post anything to the web site without adding something to the user list so people are alerted. The old catch 22, if you are not aware an update is planned, you do not know to go look for it, and you don't know because most users with the release version are not going to get any indication that the RC2 is out are they?
Seems sensible to me that an autoposter as we used to see in the old days of Usenet might be a good thing for nvaccess to invoke any time they want to alert the users of this list to a new test version that has just the changes mentioned in the in process article, ie the fix for the sample rate change in windows 10.

is it just me that sees the logic in this?

Re: windows live mial 2015

I just checked on my Windows 7 machine, which is running a ribbon version.  It is one of the build 2015 series and that build is a ribbon version.  There are different versions in a build.  If you want the 2015 version I have a link for, I can send the link.  But let's be sure if you want a menu or ribbon version, as I said.

Re: windows live mial 2015

Let's be clear on what is wanted.  Do you want a ribbon or a menu version?  There is a version number and a build number.  I think you are asking for an installer by the build number.  I'm not sure what the build number is for the menu installer I have a Drop Box link for.

The menu version I'm using shows the following information in the about dialog:
Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8117.0416

The version being asked for is evidently higher.  But, because I'm not sure just what versions I have links to, let's find out what you want by the design of the program.  That's why I'm asking if you want ribbons or menus.  Even if you can't get the version you want, you should be able to get a suitable version.

Re: Keyboard shortcuts for Libre Office writer

For me it is the templets windows, on both programs. Like I said, Libre is a better program overall but OpenOffice is much more accessible, which is weird! I am gonna check out their accessibility wiki's and really dive into these keyboard commands. Both seem to be much easier to navigate than MS Office in terms of fewer keyboard commands to do various things, but I dislike the ribbon interface anyway so I have a bias. If anyone wants these, get them from Ninite's accessible programs database.

Re: getting the professional version of station playlist studio registered

I don't think you should ask for evaluation less for that reason if it means you might not get as valuable information.  You could have a disclaimor about its use and that those who aren't broadcasters shouldn't purchase it but there is a limit to your responsibility for people's actions.  Beyond a certain point, people are responsible for what they do.

Hi,
Wait, before we continue with this: are you a broadcaster intending to use SPL Studio, or did you buy it because people told you about it? If you are NOT a broadcaster, then please contact StationPlaylist developer (Ross Levis, who is not a member of this list)for chance for a refund, because SPL Studio Pro costs 250 dollars or so. If however, you are indeed a broadcaster, then you need to put in the station name in a plain text format.
An important reminder: just because I or other add-on authors are asking for feedback should not be a reason to purchase expensive software unless you really have to. This is why I did say in the original message I sent a few days ago that I'm seeking feedback from SPL users. At this point, I'm half-tempted to never again ask for feedback on the SPL add-on from this list because someone might purchase an expensive software without being educated as to what it is and its purpose, or for that matter, if one is actually not broadcasting or plan not to use this software as a broadcaster. But given that we have broadcasters on this list who do use this software and the add-on for it, and because not all of them are part of the NVDA-SPL list, I'll ask for wider feedback from time to time but with an important change: I will accept feedback only from broadcasters and other users who are actual users of StationPlaylist Studio, or is interested in using it for broadcasting purposes.
For future reference, the subscription info for NVDA-SPL list is:
nvda-spl+subscribe@nvda-spl.groups.io
Another thing to note: StationPlaylist Studio add-on follows continuous delivery model - same principle as Windows 10 App Essentials add-on. As such, you'll see tons of messages about snapshots (two snapshot levels) on the NVDA-SPL list. Most snapshots are stable, but occasionally an alpha-level build may not work all the way or is filled with experimental features.
Cheers,
Joseph

No matter what i type in there I get an error something about an invalid value and to press escape to which sends me back to the registration screen from that point that invalid value error message comes up every time I tab around the screen.   .What should the proper syntax be for the station name? Hopefully one of you listers can help me sort this out.  Tony

Incidentally the one that still says newslitter rather than letter was fixed in Speaking, yet it seems not to be in the current nvda compiled version, so sometimes it seems that nvda is behind the releases of the synth.

In the end the issue of doing it in dic files is a thorny one, for two reasons.
1. a user needs to know where to copy the file and also has to remember that any rules they have already defined will be lost.2. When a new version of Espeak does come out, you will not know how many of the changes have been implemented in the new version.
There are many other pitfalls, not the least of which is crewing it up by shoving it in the wrong folder!

One think I do think nvda needs is some kind of way to save and retrieve dic files for voices.

I would think the best thing to do as far as making the file available, is to copy the .dic file to another location on your computer. If it's the default.dic file, that may be it's name. I've almost never done this and others may be able to tell you where it is. Then you could send it somewhere such as to a Drop Box folder or to someone who will place it on their web site, such as the other Gene.

Subject: [nvda] In relation to pronounciation corrections in eSpeak NG once more

Hi to the respective community and users,

Due to the messages relating to the pronounciation corrections I happen
to have read so far, I've just decided to extract them from the
directory called Speech Dictionaries. They are contained in a notepad
document, which implies that I may offer them whenever you like.

The only question is where to post the document so that it may be
accessed by the NVDA users. I do not consider myself to be supposed to
do it here, for I have not obtained a permission to do so. I also do not
think that it should be done that way because the mail traffic may be
made lower.

That's why I'm addressing myself to you so that I may do it in a proper
manner so as not to come in breach of the rules and regulations of the
mailing list.

As I've already said, I've made over a hundred corrections. Let me
confirm here that I've made 139 corrections so far. That's how users can
help each other without calling a programmer to intervene.

I hope that it is possible to find room for us the users to upload our
corrections so that when accessing that piece of the site, we can
automatically exchange pronounciation corrections. That's one way of how
eSpeak NG speech may be updated without wating any next release to launch.

If I'm supposed to send the mentioned document to an admin in a private
message so that it may be reviewed, I'm glad to obey the rule. If I'm
supposed to mention this topic no longer, I shall obey that rule, too.

Your sincere friend and user,

Dejan

Well, this happens from time to time and has for the past few versions. Since it is I will include the log snippit in this posting. This happens most often when I press the windows key while in Thunderbird but I have seen it in other apps as well.

The log is attached.

Hi,

Usually restarting NVDA should sort this out. If this happens again, please do send the log fragment to the forum so we can find out what went wrong (although I have an idea as to what, but just want to make sure).

Cheers,

Ok, I figured out how to find the logs.

Â

It looks like it is happening because of a UIA error.Â

Â

Should I turn off anything to stop this? Not sure how to approach this one.

Hi,

I am having a problem and thought I'd see if I could get a log of it. The problem is that often if I am in Thunderbird or another app and I press the windows key NVDA seems to crash. I have to restart it.

Â

I can see how to get to the current execution log but not the log from the execution when the crash happened. How do I find this?

Â

thanks.

Unless of course some other shortcut has hijacked the shortcut sequence. You can of course make it anything you want. I have = set up as narrator for example.

This is not a function of exactly but of the Windows explorer application. If you have a NVDA icon on your desktop and that icon has a shortcut key associated with it than the alt-control-N will work.

So, find the NVDA on the desktop, and then type control-enter to open its properties. Tab through the dialog until you hear shortcut and then type N followed by enter. At this point the keystroke should be working again. You can do equivalent process for other items on your desktop like Word or Mail, if you like.

Re: رد: [nvda] can we control the computerrs using nvda with braille display?

Amir,

You may find the Braille Extender add-on useful:

BrailleExtender is an NVDA add-on that provides various features at braille level. Currently, the following features are implemented:
• Reload two favorite braille display with shortcuts.
• Automatically switch in review mode in apps.
• Auto scroll.
• Switch between several input/output braille tables.
• Define custom rules to mark text with special fields option with braille dots 7 and 8.
• Use two output braille tables simultaneously.
• Display tab signs as spaces.
• Reverse forward scroll and back scroll buttons.
• Say the current line during text scrolling, in review mode.
For some braille displays, it extends the braille display commands to provide:
• Access to function keys, multimedia keys, quick navigation.
• Emulate modifier keys, and thus any keyboard shortcut.
• Offer several keyboard configurations concerning the possibility to input dots 7 and 8, enter and backspace.
• Launch applications quickly.
• Actions and quick navigation through a rotor.
Once the add-on is installed, read the documentation and go through the settings using the BrailleExtender menu (located at the root of NVDA menu). The documentation is mainly generated automatically because it depends on the braille display in use.

Hi,

Sorry for not mentioning it,  i mean, controlling the computer, our pc not others, like now, after writing this  message, i want to press ctrl+enter to send it, from my understanding, it is not possible with the Braille display, meaning i have  to use the keyboard to perfrom control plus enter. So  after it is done, then i will continue using the Braille display again.

Only basic keys are supported for Braille right now, such as down arrow, up arrow, tab, escape. But not all, and not complicated keys, such as pressing alt+control+shift+f, it must be done using the keyboard. Is this correct? Or am i missing something?
