Re: BluetoothAudio addon

Do you have audio ducking turned on in NVDA?  That may be the issue.  Now, having said that, I'll be darned if I can find that setting, and I could swear it exists, but maybe I'm conflating something from JAWS.

If that exists, and you find it and changing it doesn't fix anything, consider using the Silenzio utility instead of the add-on.

BluetoothAudio addon

Eilana Benish

Hello everyone

we have noticed that when using the BluetoothAudio addon, the sound from other devices becomes low and after one minute more or less , the sound turns to be very high .

this issue occurs even when NVDA is on speech mode off.

after disabling the BluetoothAudio addon, this issue of the sound being very low and then returns to be very high is gone.

so, I would like to ask if there is anything that can be done about this because this add on is very very important

thanks in advance

Hi Rowen,

Are you saying that the approach I mentioned in my message only works for the first 2 comments?

Try hitting f6 to return to the document and then repeat the process.

Focusing on Offscreen Objects

kelby carlson

I'm using an application that, for whatever reason, I can only get around with object navigation. I'm having a problem that when I focus on certain navigator objects, NVDA reports them as offscreen and activating them does nothing. Maximizing the window doesn't seem to help, and I haven't encountered this anywhere else.

Oh wow! I did try it with my old windows 7 box.  It never worked right for me. I guess my old computer was not meant for it. For some strange reason I couldn’t install it even if I was trying the free version.  I never tried it again. I had errors and more errors when trying to install it.  What a shock.  Is that the screen reader that updates itself when new versions come out? Or am I lying?

Brian,

Since NVDA was most likely influenced in some way by System Access I

thought I'd post this to highlight my sadness for the loss of SA.

This was taken from a blog in 2010:

"Let's refresh our memories on what we have already done:

1. Serotek was the first to offer a full-featured accessibility

solution that does not require  administrator rights to provide speech

and braille access.

2. Serotek was the first to provide non-proprietary remote access

speech solutions for personal and  commercial environments that even

work with our competition.

3. Serotek was the first to provide full-featured access to 64-bit Windows.

4. Serotek was the first to provide direct support for Braille devices

that comply with the Human  Interface Device standard, allowing a user

to walk up to any Windows computer and have speech and  Braille access

without installing any drivers.

5. Serotek was the first (and is still the only,) completely web based

access solution to speech  and braille with satogo."

Take care,

Blaster

Re: NVDA and Notepad ++ search

I don't have punctuation on in my screen-reader and I didn't know Note;pad ++ was being discussed. I thought it was just Notepad. I would think search works the same way. If it doesn't, then my comments don't apply and others may give information. But if Notepad ++ is built on Notepad, it is likely that the control f should work for search and f3 should work for repeat search. We'll see.

I'm sorry I didn't realize that Notepad ++ was being discussed.

I am running the latest stable version 7.9.1

1. I use ctrl f to search for something, and I know that that part of
text exist more than one time in that document.

2. then I press F3 to jump to next result

3. NVDA said no more search result in this direction, but actually the
focus has already jump to the new line that matches the search keyword

4. I try pressing ctrl home and start from the very begining, pressing
F3 do also speak no more search ....

I jump to end by ctrl End, then I press F3, NVDA just say the same, no
more search..... but did not have the sound that indicate no next search

result.

Do anyone has any idea about how to fix this?

Thanks,

William

Re: NVDA and Notepad ++ search

It's also never a bad idea to uninstall and reinstall software that's behaving peculiarly.  Much like the old tech support advice to power cycle your machine, which often fixes issues (and no one knows why) the same is true of an uninstall/reinstall.

Sad, perhaps, but there is only so much room in niche markets in
particular. This is a screen reader I'd never even heard of until this
particular topic came up.

And I expect as Narrator continues to mature that other very small players
will be exiting the stage, if any are left.

Hi

Which synth package are you using?

I think at one time I used to have speech platform voices stop on some pages etc then had to start them again. But that was a long time ago and am using other synths packages now.

But making changes isn't easy. NVDA does a lot of awesome things. Be patient with the programmers. If it were easily doable, I would do it.

Thank you sir. I added the voices even though they appeared in the voices list for Narrator and that did the trick after a restart of NVDA.

In addition to what Carlos mentioned about starting NVDA with add-ons disabled to determine whether an add-on could be triggering your problem, it also never hurts to run the COM Registration Fixing Tool (NVDA+N,T,R,Enter).

Hi all.

What is the version of Microsoft Office? The browsers are updated? You test with the add-ons disabled?

If in the category general of the options dialog of NVDA, if you have display options to exit enabled, press NVDA+q, and choose restart with add-ons disabled.

Re: NVDA and the possibility to skip graphics on the web

There almost certainly is some way in NVDA settings, but what you're looking to achieve may be easier via your web browser.  Which one (or ones) are you using?

If it's any one of the Chromium-based browsers there is a great extension, Reader Mode, that "clears all the clutter" paring the page down to text with a single click (by default, anyway, you can customize).  This is often far easier to use than changing screen reader settings that then need to be unset on various occasions.

Hi all.

You can press NVDA+control+D and disable graphics. NVDA only read the description of graphics that have it with this checkbox disabled.
