constant refreshing of www.cordcuttersnews.com

Hello guys. I go to this site daily to see the latest in cord cutting and related stories. I couldn't say when this started, but, the site now keeps refreshing or downloading something in the background. I can hear status updates through NVDA beeping. When things refresh, I cannot hold my place on the site.

This is probably easy to fix, but, I"m not sure how at the moment. I'm using Firefox 59. It was doing this on Firefox 58 as well. I haven't yet tried with Edge, Chrome or anything else. When I do, I will report back. Any help with this is appreciated, and thanks to all in advance.

True, Brian! where in fact it was a wasted time for the blind or visual impaired community to have this added to their sites and yes email verification should be at least as an option

I know this has been posted before but could not retrieve the email about the extension or addons for Firefox that is similar with webvism. I appreciate if you could share it again here some alternative option that I could use with on the Firefox ESR to solve the capture or verification image.

Re: Problems with latest nvda and outlook 2016 and windows 10

Hi,

In this case, a log and a crash dump is useful, as it then allows Nv Access to diagnose what’s up a bit better.

Cheers,

Joseph

Re: Problems with latest nvda and outlook 2016 and windows 10

Hi,

Please try:

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Before opening ANY message, open Python Console (Control+NVDA+Z) and type the following as exactly as shown:

focus.appModule.dumpOnCrash()

Press Enter. Note down the path NVDA gives you. Once you got the path to the dump file, close Python Console (Escape key).

  1. When Outlook crashes, it should create the dump file in the path specified.
  2. Open File Explorer or other program you are using for browsing files, then navigate to the dump path and copy and paste the dump file as a private message to be sent to info@....

When you send the email to NV Access, be sure to tell them what happened, what you tried, and ask for a GitHub issue reference.

Cheers,

Joseph

Re: Problems with latest nvda and outlook 2016 and windows 10

Sam Bushman

I restarted nvda so it would be fresh. I then launched outlook – then pressed enter on the message. Outlook restarted – then I pressed nvda-f1 and copied the log to you. What else can I do to get you the relevant info?

Thanks,

Sam

I’ve not experienced this. I somehow remember it wasn’t always a thing, but I’m certainly glad to be able to paste to command prompt nowadays.

The Windows 10 command line will not let me paste anything from the clipboard into the terminal. Is anybody else having this issue?

Otherwise, this command is completely useful, and exactly what I needed right now. Thanks for sending it along.

Hi All,

I came across a great Windows keyboard command on-line…

This will be useful for working with music files, like making a playlist, but sometimes I hate those browse boxes when it does not open into the folder where the file is, and you have to back out and find the folder where you are wanting to open or attach a file.

So when you have the folder open and you are on top of the file, do the following:

Shift + applications key

Then press the letter A.

This will put the entire path and file name into the clipboard, ready for pasting into that browse field.

This works with or without a screenreader.

Re: continuing research into Outlook 2016 crashes on Windows 7

Jonathan COHN

Joseph,

Thanks, pretty much confirms my guesses though I still have a long way to go before understanding all the components of NVDA. In any case, the control-1, control-2, and control-3 commands in current versions of Outlook at least cause Outlook to crash when NVDA is running, but not when JAWS is running. As you specified this seems to be an ongoing issue and was reported with XP and Outlook 2007 so has been going on for a while if not this specific case. I suppose I could install 365 on my testing Windows 10  VM and see if this is a issue directly related to bad UIA within Win7. I just hate to leave a bug alone when I have source code and can accurately reproduce at will.

Though right now I need to verify that our implementation of Keylock is fully WCAG compliant. So, I might have to stick this away for a weekend project.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Hi,

I see. In short, from what I can tell, UIA bridge freezes when trying to obtain something from an app. There are numerous itHub issues regarding this problem.

Cheers,

Joseph

Hi,

I see. In short, from what I can tell, UIA bridge freezes when trying to obtain something from an app. There are numerous itHub issues regarding this problem.

Cheers,

Hi,

In order to verify your claim, I need an evidence please.

Cheers,

OK, some research makes me think that when I use the keyboard shortcut to change from Mailbox view to Calendar View in Outlook that the crash might be related to UIA not being handled correctly. Is there a way I could disable UIA for my copy of NVDA either in intirety or for Outlook just to execute this command without working with the NVDA core? I

So, could I write a Outlook addon that disables UIA when in the SuperGrid or in the INI files?

Thanks!

Hi Igor,

Thanks for the info brother. That seems to be the case most of the time
with programs like that, a real shame.

Hi Tony.

The Propellerhead reason is the music production program. Very powerful, has a lot of samples, synthesizers and effects to join and mix together.
Unfortunately after playing with it for some time, I have to say, no, it is not accessible.

All the best.

Igor.

Hello!
I would like to find out, if someone was able to use Propellerhead reason successfully with NVDA?
I have downloaded the trial version, it looks to be somewhat accessible and also has a lot of keyboard shortcuts, however since I have never used it before, I don't know, if it is accessible enough to do something useful!
Would love to hear some success or failure storyes!

All the best!
