As I said, if this is a good product, sounds like the thing for windows 10, since their inbuilt offering is lame, no rules no news and hardly much about it that I, personally feel happy with with regard to having accounts in separate tree views.

Hi.
Very pleased to report, after a bit of work, the latest beta of OE classic 2.8 has been released, with more accessibility improvements, this time to the options settings.
It's a beta though, so you'll only be able to get access to the betas if you pay a flat fee of around $30.
There is no destinction between the pro version and free version though, just that the paid users get access to the betas early.

How do you buy the inoetics voices?

I was going to buy the code factory voices from atguys, I have the

inoetics voices but they just never met my needs and now inoetics is not

hancling the voices now.

My only hope is that I spend either on acapella or well who knows

something else.

As for the voices, in regional and language settings of windows, install

every language you want the voice for, then in each language open that

up hit options and hit all the download buttons.

Once its all loaded remove all the extra languages and your voices and

others will stay.

Reading context menu in Windows 10 - Re: [nvda] Master snapshot is only 540k

Quentin Christensen

Hi Lenron,

Firstly, if you are posting about a new subject, you should create a new post to the group.  Replying to a previous message like you have done, is confusing as people are expecting a message on the previous topic.  Also people not interested in the original topic might not see your message.

As for how to report issues, there are two ways:
1) In the group here is the easiest but less official way to do it.  It will likely generate more conversation so is a great option if you have a question or aren't sure if something is working as it should.

2) On our GitHub page: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues - This is the official issue tracker for NVDA and is read by all the developers (both on NV Access staff and community developers).  While others, such as I, can file issues on your behalf from threads in the e-mail group, it works best if you file issues directly as that way you will be notified of updates, and also if someone needs more information, you will see that request directly.

So, on to your issue.  I'm using the latest fast insider build and NVDA 2017.4 and I can read the context menu in File Explorer fine.  Now, whether it is something different between our systems, or whether you are perhaps on a different insider build track or something else I'm not sure.  Which is simply to say I can't reproduce it.

Have you uninstalled any software recently?  We've seen things like this when someone has uninstalled another piece of software.

Kind regards

Quentin.

Does anyone know where I can report this issue I am having with nvda I
am using version 17.4 and win 10 NVDA is not reading certain menus in
some apps.. I am not able to read the context menu in file explorer.
This started after a win 10 insider update last week so I downgraded

Hi Howard,

Most users would use the regular stable release (2017.4 currently),
available from the main page.

The "Snapshot" builds are "beta" versions, which are built in between the
stable releases, so that anyone interested can test out new features, check
whether bug fixes do indeed fix reported bugs (and don't introduce any new
ones), etc.

They are available from: https://www.nvaccess.org/files/nvda/snapshots/

The "Next" snapshots are newer, like "alpha" builds and may not
necessarily be as stable.

The "Master" snapshots (as mentioned in this thread) are more like "beta"
quality - they have features and fixes which have been in Next for a couple
of weeks and are hopefully more stable.

While anyone can download them, we do recommend that you keep a stable
version of NVDA on hand in case things don't work as planned with the
snapshot builds. As for size, they are a similar size to the regular stable
release, around 20MB.

If you download and run one, it should work much like the stable version -
ie bring up the same dialog offering to install etc.

Kind regards

Quentin.

I wonder failing all of that if there is a keep alive setting in WGet
where it will just keep trying and resuming until the download is gotten, or
you can try it from a remote box via ssh somewhere and then download it
from there later.

Hi Brian

I just tried getting the snapshot with sea monkey and doing it
manually and i get the following message below.

C:\Users\hurri\AppData\Local\Temp\1yjDH9cM.exe.part could not be
saved, because the source file could not be read.

Try again later, or contact the server administrator.

Even if it does start downloading it dies shortly after.

It seems to do it in all the browsers not download but other sites
will let me download stuff.

It is weird how some can get it and not others.

so am guessing now do i contact nvaccess since it is there server?

If not then its a routing issue to the servers from your location by
the sounds of it, but its very odd. Anyone else you know in your area who
can also try it? Might be good to see if its your end or in fact a
widespread issue.
I guess you could try some pings to the server address and see if
the round trip time or packet loss is unacceptable.

Hi Gene

No problems with the internet or going to the snapshots page etc it
is say when you go to either update the master snapshot through the help
section it goes up to the server and then you press the enter key on the
save one to download it it is just not downloading from there server that
way and even if you go to the main page where the snapshots are and click on
the file to download it you still get the same result. Some of the file
might come down maybe 400 k or so some times more but never the whole
program.

The anti virus is not stopping it either. I have also tried
different browsers still the same result.

It seems to be wanting me to retry the download all the time so is
not downloading from the snapshots page but no problems any where else for
downloading.

Which version of NVDA are you using?

I just tried with Chrome Version 64.0.3282.167 (Official Build) (64-bit) (Chrome says it's up to date), and with NVDA 2017.4 and also the latest Next snapshot and I can press alt+left and alt+right arrows to move between pages.  Possibly something else is interfering with the keystroke?

If you've updated anything lately, maybe restart it, and even the machine (you posted this three days ago so you possibly have since then anyway).  Otherwise, are you using any Chrome extensions that might be playing funny?

Regards

Quentin.

Hi Howard,

Most users would use the regular stable release (2017.4 currently), available from the main page.

The "Snapshot" builds are "beta" versions, which are built in between the stable releases, so that anyone interested can test out new features, check whether bug fixes do indeed fix reported bugs (and don't introduce any new ones), etc.

The "Next" snapshots are newer, like "alpha" builds and may not necessarily be as stable.

The "Master" snapshots (as mentioned in this thread) are more like "beta" quality - they have features and fixes which have been in Next for a couple of weeks and are hopefully more stable.

While anyone can download them, we do recommend that you keep a stable version of NVDA on hand in case things don't work as planned with the snapshot builds.  As for size, they are a similar size to the regular stable release, around 20MB.

If you download and run one, it should work much like the stable version - ie bring up the same dialog offering to install etc.

Kind regards

Quentin.

I was going to buy the code factory voices from atguys, I have the inoetics voices but they just never met my needs and now inoetics is not hancling the voices now.

My only hope is that I spend either on acapella or well who knows something else.

As for the voices, in regional and language settings of windows, install every language you want the voice for, then in each language open that up hit options and hit all the download buttons.

Once its all loaded remove all the extra languages and your voices and others will stay.

You know, I have had it with this CodeFactory thing of deactivating

this voice is not too bad; it is not as clear as Eloquence or the Vocalizer
Expressive voices, but it is a little better than the standard NVDA voice in
my opinion. I think CodeFactory could make this program permanent with NVDA
as it is with other screen readers. They end up making the program far too
much trouble to use in NVDA than it is worth. I'll just eat the cost
because I don't expect them to do anything about the crazy requirements for
using the voices. I'll thkink twice before I purchase such software in the
future.

Can we use any other Microsoft voices that windows offers? If so, how do we
do it?

In addition to Gene Nz concerned this happened to me the other time so what I did a workaround to get to solve is by downloading the older version of the master snapshot then, from that point I could able to download the newer version. Seemingly not sure what exactly causing of this but hopefully this will be fix soon. Thanks.

No problems from downloading from other websites though.

In any case, Mick has pushed an update this morning which is live now and certainly at least for me, seems to download ok:

I wonder failing  all of that if there is a keep alive setting in WGet where it will just keep trying and resuming until the download is gotten, or  you can try it from a remote box  via ssh  somewhere and then download it from there later.

C:\Users\hurri\AppData\Local\Temp\1yjDH9cM.exe.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.

Try again later, or contact the server administrator.

Even if it does start downloading it dies shortly after.

It seems to do it in all the browsers not download but other sites will let me download stuff.

I guess you could try some pings to the server address and see if the round trip time or packet loss is unacceptable.

No problems with the internet or going to the snapshots page etc it is say when you go to either update the master snapshot through the help section it goes up to the server and then you press the enter key on the save one to download it it is just not downloading from there server that way and even if you go to the main page where the snapshots are and click on the file to download it you still get the same result. Some of the file  might come down maybe 400 k or so some times more but never the whole program.

The anti virus is not stopping it either. I have also tried different browsers still the same result.

It seems to be wanting me to retry the download all the time so is not downloading from the snapshots page but no problems any where else for downloading.

I am also wondering if things have changed like it is a stub then it gets the main file? I am guessing not.

I usually like once a week to see what might of gone into it each week.

You need to be very careful of torrent
software it can intervene in searches by using something called
conduit, which as the name suggests adds commercial content to any
search you do anywhere. You need to check for this or similar with

googled it, but only got a page full of sponsored content and forum
posts about nvidia stuff. Google seems to be less now than it once

I can use object navigation to see what's in the tree, but given

I just installed qbittorrent. Unfortunately, I didn't keep the
email about how to make the transfer treeview accessible. I
googled it, but only got a page full of sponsored content and forum
posts about nvidia stuff. Google seems to be less now than it once
was. IE, NVDA and NVidia are not the same thing, sighs.

I can use object navigation to see what's in the tree, but given
hundreds of torrents, looking at each piece of info individually
for each one is possibly not the most efficient way.

Thanks.

Hello everyone.

I have been using Utorrent, or Mu-torrent, as it is sometimes
called. I ended up with some build of 3.5 on this Windows 10
machine. It is not totally unusable, but the ads have a tendency
to get stuck and crash the program. It also causes firefox to
crash on a semi-regular basis. I was even willing to “upgrade to
proâ€, to get rid of the ads, but clicking on the link takes me
to some silly games page, and while I’m sure it’s possible to
get to the correct page from there, I got this inexplicable
impression that the developers did not actually want me to upgrade
the software at all, since they make the path so cryptic. In
short, I think I would feel more comfortable with a different
client altogether. Of course, I am looking for one that is very
configurable
and which plays nice with NVDA. Have you fine folks any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Master snapshot is only 540k

Quentin.

It is weird how some can get it and not others.

You need to be very careful of torrent
software it can intervene in searches by using something called conduit, which as the name suggests adds commercial content to any search you do anywhere. You need to check for this or similar with malware programs.

I just installed qbittorrent. Unfortunately, I didn't keep the email
about how to make the transfer treeview accessible. I googled it,
but only got a page full of sponsored content and forum posts about
nvidia stuff. Google seems to be less now than it once was. IE,
NVDA and NVidia are not the same thing, sighs.

I can use object navigation to see what's in the tree, but given
hundreds of torrents, looking at each piece of info individually for
each one is possibly not the most efficient way.

Thanks.

I wonder failing all of that if there is a keep alive setting in WGet where it will just keep trying and resuming until the download is gotten, or you can try it from a remote box via ssh somewhere and then download it from there later.

Some of the file might come down maybe 400 k or so some times more but never the whole program.

The anti virus is not stopping it either. I have also tried different browsers still the same result.

No matter which way i do it either from the snap shots page or through nvda it can see the new snapshot but when you go to save it it just dies some times straight away and or a second or 2 later. It might say go to a couple of percent and with adsl should be quick but seems very slow from it.

No problems from downloading from other websites though.

I will give it a whirl again later on and hopefully it gets sorted.

Hi everyone,

In any case, Mick has pushed an update this morning which is live now and certainly at least for me, seems to download ok:

Version 14868,48743675 Mon Feb 19 23:22:15 2018

I expect the same problem will remain for anyone trying to download the previous master build, but if you have problems with this new one, please let us know.

Hi Quentin

No matter which way i do it either from the snap shots page or through nvda it can see the new snapshot but when you go to save it it just dies some times straight away and or a second or 2 later. It might say go to a couple of percent and with adsl should be quick but seems very slow from it.

No problems from downloading from other websites though.

I will give it a whirl again later on and hopefully it gets sorted.

In any case, Mick has pushed an update this morning which is live now and certainly at least for me, seems to download ok:

I expect the same problem will remain for anyone trying to download the previous master build, but if you have problems with this new one, please let us know.

I wonder failing  all of that if there is a keep alive setting in WGet where it will just keep trying and resuming until the download is gotten, or  you can try it from a remote box  via ssh  somewhere and then download it from there later.

Hi Brian

I just tried getting the snapshot with sea monkey and doing it manually and i get the following message below.

It is weird how some can get it and not others.

so am guessing now do i contact nvaccess since it is there server?

If not then its a routing issue to the servers from your location by the sounds of it, but its very odd. Anyone else you know in your area who can also try it? Might be good to see if its your end or in fact a widespread issue.

Hi brian

I emailed Quentin and in short he said one of the copies might of got corrupted.  he said it might let you do it some times and not others and some thing about there must be several servers it is hosted on.

And one of the copies must of got corrupted.

Mick has been told and said give it half a hour or so then a new comit should be done.

I am guessing for it to filter through it may take a bit longer.

I just tried and noticed the number has changed but still get the same error for the new snapshot so will try again later.

hopefully the problem gets sorted.

It looks to me like sometimes the file name is being messed up somewhere along the line as the actual address I see it looking at is.

Its not doing it every time though, and indeed not even often, but sometimes.
Can anyone comment?

I wonder failing  all of that if there is a keep alive setting in WGet where it will just keep trying and resuming until the download is gotten, or  you can try it from a remote box  via ssh  somewhere and then download it from there later.

Hi Brian

I just tried getting the snapshot with sea monkey and doing it manually and i get the following message below.

It is weird how some can get it and not others.

so am guessing now do i contact nvaccess since it is there server?

So downloading files like podcasts etc elsewhere is no issue, or maybe programs?
If not then its a routing issue to the servers from your location by the sounds of it, but its very odd. Anyone else you know in your area who can also try it? Might be good to see if its your end or in fact a widespread issue.
I guess you could try some pings to the server address and see if the round trip time or packet loss is unacceptable.

Hi Gene

I doubt it.  There may some problem in your area or in your part of the country that is interfering with Internet communications between there and the server.  there is no reason that different servers would be used.

Hi

Nar no matter which browser you use and which way it is just not coming down. I even tried it on the next snapshot and the same results.

I also did it with either the save link thingy in mozilla fire fox and what ever the others are called as well.

it is weird how you and some others can get it but not me. I used to be able to get it every week apart from this weekend.

I am guessing maybe other servers are used for you guys?

There is a problem in a couple of browsers that i have tried to get it with. The download starts then dies some times at 400 k or so some times a bit more. I have adsl and have even left it but still no go.

there is no anti virus blocking it either. I am guessing other should be getting the same problem.. It is the version with 64 f on it it is the latest one.

I wonder what is happening?

Hi guys

is the servers playing up? For the last couple of days i have been trying to download a master snapshot and each time it comes down it is only about 540k. Is the server playing up? for when i go to click on it up comes a security smart screen I think it is the windows one.

I am also wondering if things have changed like it is a stub then it gets the main file? I am guessing not.

I usually like once a week to see what might of gone into it each week.

Has any one else had the same problems?

This was doing it from inside of the master snapshot under the help section.

I have also tried it from the main page and still got the same results.

This was again on feb 18th and also tried on the 17th
