Well, that' might be good for those of us who don't want to run the snaps, so I'd say this is a good move for those of us in restricted use cases etc. I'd say, go for it.

Take care

I agree. I'm personally for this, even snaps can be in the store as part of a beta program, or  what not. It would just be easier in my humble opinion.

Well for students and some enterprise businesses I think its to stop
people unknowingly load a virus on your system.

And if nothing can install itself hopefully no one can get in.

An admin probably could but even so.

For standard users that control things that hopefully will not be a problem.

I can understand that in some very paranoid environments, this is a
good thing, but for the rest of us it seems a step too far and I might
even say, a situation where you are lulled into thinking your system
is impenetrable by naughty people when in fact there is no such

The issue with next updates is that the download and install code changed meaning that the only way to continue to get updates that will work is to manually update it so the new code is in the working version.

My answer nowadays is to use the next snap, and use master as my installed copy. As long as you have a portable copy of the release version you can always revert back.
That way the updates arrive automatically via the snap internal downloader for both versions as Next now no longer uses the browser to download new versions.

Hi guys

is the servers playing up? For the last couple of days i have been trying to download a master snapshot and each time it comes down it is only about 540k. Is the server playing up? for when i go to click on it up comes a security smart screen I think it is the windows one.

I am also wondering if things have changed like it is a stub then it gets the main file? I am guessing not.

I usually like once a week to see what might of gone into it each week.

Has any one else had the same problems?

This was doing it from inside of the master snapshot under the help section.

I have also tried it from the main page and still got the same results.

This was again on feb 18th and also tried on the 17th

A search of the archives shows this page with lots of messages shown from this thread.  You may follow the link to the one you think might take you closest to the part you are interested in.
I haven't looked extensively but this appears to be about where you might find what you want in the thread:

I'd have to do more checking.  perhaps, for some reason, this thread isn't known to google yet.  I did a search for the previous subject line, which was usable torrent client recommendation followed by nvda and another search for the same subject line followed by nvdagroups.io to make it more likely that archive searches would show up early in the results.  I found nothing.  but there has been no decline in Google.  I use it almost every day and I've seen no decline.

I just installed qbittorrent.  Unfortunately, I didn't keep the email about
how to make the transfer treeview accessible.  I googled it, but only got a
page full of sponsored content and forum posts about nvidia stuff.  Google
seems to be less now than it once was.  IE, NVDA and NVidia are not the

I can use object navigation to see what's in the tree, but given hundreds
of torrents, looking at each piece of info individually for each one is
possibly not the most efficient way.

Thanks.

Google isn't less than it was.  I don't know what you searched for or how, nor what results might be available on the topic, but speculating about a decline in quality based on one search has no basis.

this voice is not too bad; it is not as clear as Eloquence or the Vocalizer
Expressive voices, but it is a little better than the standard NVDA voice in
my opinion. I think CodeFactory could make this program permanent with NVDA
as it is with other screen readers. They end up making the program far too
much trouble to use in NVDA than it is worth. I'll just eat the cost
because I don't expect them to do anything about the crazy requirements for

true for Firefox as well. Also, I'm not sure what you want to do. You

But in terms of files such as audio files like MP3s, in Firefox, once

But
that doesn't matter in your case. You use XP and Google Chrome, the

the settings, or almost all of them, I haven't checked every one, are

I'm going into all this mainly because your message may, if not

reasonably accessible and quite usable.

As far as playing audio files, Chrome does play audio. I don't know if
it

Hello,
Why don't you use Adobe Acrobat Reader for offline PDF reading? It should read any language.
Google Chrome, plays movies and audio very well and to jump to the built-in download manager use F6 to open downloaded files.

Best,
Ralf

Hi,
yes, exactly. And it's a dumb file search rather than an intelligent analysis of what is installed. Makes sense when playing it super safe but to my mind it's overkill. Still, it's what's happening and we have to live with it for now.
Best,
Felix

Hi!
Make sure no Window-Eyes version exists anywhere on the system, not even as
a zipped setup on d: when your system drive is c:. It's really that strict.
Hope this helps.

Re: Issue installing latest Windows 10 update

Gene

It has nothing to do with caring.  This appears to be the feature I've seen discussed in Windows 10 that won't let you upgrade if certain programs Windows considers incompatible are on the system.

Why on earth should it care?
After all it was the said Microsoft who gave away window eyes only a couple
of years back with office!

Hi!
Make sure no Window-Eyes version exists anywhere on the system, not even as
a zipped setup on d: when your system drive is c:. It's really that strict.
Hope this helps.
Best,
Felix

Re: Master snapshot is only 540k

Ralf Kefferpuetz

I can confirm that I can't download next snapshot from within chrome and default chrome downloader. Error is:
Failed - Network error nvda snapshot next-14867,1b11c8a9.exe
Restarting is resulting in the same error.
When using IE it fails also at the first try, but when resuming the download it succeeds.

Cheers,
Ralf

I used the downloader built into Chrome. Defender is my antivirus program. All other downloads and streaming work fine.

Sounds to me like the downloader you are using in your browser is
having a problem. Do you use any kind of anti virus that looks at
downloads in real time? I remember some time ago a dodgy version of an
anti virus did something similar to this, and telling it not to look
at the downloads till they had finished fixed it. Basically it times out.

I've not had any issues since getting rid of third party anti virus
software.

Hi brian

I have been trying a few times over the weekend. It is up to 13 meg
now and just died or not far of it. It is like the server is super
slow or not working correctly.

Actually it just died in the download.

Did you perhaps get the old, this file is not one which is regualrly
downloaded error and then it aborts?
There is section in firefox to turn this warning off.

Hi guys

is the servers playing up? For the last couple of days i have been
trying to download a master snapshot and each time it comes down it
is only about 540k. Is the server playing up? for when i go to click
on it up comes a security smart screen I think it is the windows one.

I am also wondering if things have changed like it is a stub then it
gets the main file? I am guessing not.

I usually like once a week to see what might of gone into it each week.

Has any one else had the same problems?

This was doing it from inside of the master snapshot under the help
section.

I have also tried it from the main page and still got the same results.

This was again on feb 18th and also tried on the 17th

Re: usable torrent client recommendations?

Simone Dal Maso

Hello,
I use qBitTorrent.
The problem is landing in the download area to check what is happening, but it is free without ads and after having configured it one time it works.

Hello everyone.
I have been using Utorrent, or Mu-torrent, as it is sometimes called. I ended up with some build of 3.5 on this Windows 10 machine. It is not totally unusable, but the ads have a tendency to get stuck and crash the program. It also causes firefox to crash on a semi-regular basis. I was even willing to “upgrade to pro”, to get rid of the ads, but clicking on the link takes me to some silly games page, and while I’m sure it’s possible to get to the correct page from there, I got this inexplicable impression that the developers did not actually want me to upgrade the software at all, since they make the path so cryptic. In short, I think I would feel more comfortable with a different client altogether. Of course, I am looking for one that is very configurable and which plays nice with NVDA. Have you fine folks any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
