Hi  Anthony,

It is not a real tutorial, but you can read the documentation:
nvda menu, preferences, Weather Plus Settings submenu,Documentation, Weather Plus first settings.html".
You can learn the commands from the file "Readme.html" or from the file  Weather Plus, "nvda menu, tools, Manage addons... select "Weather Plus" and press "About add-on..."

Cheers

Hi Adriano

I just installed the weather plus but I don’t know how to do the settings.

If you have a tutorial or you can explain to me how to do it I would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hi Lisa,

Strange..

From the preferences menu appears the "Weather Plus Settings" item?

What do you see about Weather Plus  from tools, manage addons?

There must be only "Weather Plus; Status: running; Version: 4.5 15.09.2017".

If the status is remove, has not been properly uninstalled.

Let me know that I want to understand.

Thanks

Cheers

Hi Gene and anyone else interested,

I have used this add on for quite some time and never had issues with updating it till this version in Windows 10. It looks like I was able to update it that time and my city appears in the city list as the only one, but I get nothing when I hit NVDA+w even though all check boxes are checked and I should hear something. The volume appears to be high enough I should hear something as well. Guess I'll give up on this one this time.

When you get to the add on a sub menu will come off it and say nset and manage your settings press the enter key on it.

the next screen will give you a whole eahp of options. The very first place where it lands will let you put in a town or ciy etc. In my case i say put hawera then tabbed to a button that says Test
This testing the validity of city woeID entry and find the name of city assigned, or v then pressed the space bar. It will then come up with some results. You can then arrow down the results and when you find the one you want use the tab key so it lands on the ok button then press the space bar.

it will then take you back to where you typed in the name of the town or city tab once it will land you on a button that will give you details to make sure it is the correct town or city tab again and it will give you the option to add it to the list press the space bar on it.

You can also keep on tabbing and there will be other options to choose from just use the space bar to check or uncheck the boxes you want to hear. make sure you tab to the ok button then press the space bar for it to take affect.

You can also preset that place as your default when you press the nvda key + letter W

You can also add more places by repeating the steps to add more places.

If you say added 4 you can get to them quickly by pressing the nvda key + ctrl key + shift key + letter W then arrow down the list to the one you want to hear from with nvda key + W.

hope the above helps.

Hi
I followed your instructions and found the combo box. I noticed it says the
box is collapsed, so I pressed spacebar to expand it, waited a few seconds
for it to open the list, then was able to use up/down arrows to navigate.
It also works with first letter selection.

Seems to me that all the help in tbird assumes you can see the screen and have a mouse. Although they do list the shortcut keys some of them include mouse actions to finish or start them which seems a bit silly.

I'm not sure why this question with thunderbird even comes up. When you
press enter on a message, thunderbird automatically reads the message,
there's no need to arrow down or use read to end at all, it
automatically reads when the message opens, and it does it all by
itself, the NVDA support for thunderbird is very good in that regard.

If you are using the default desktop keyboard layout, speak to end is
NVDA key down arrow. Use the down arrow on the main keyboard. You

Yes, also because if you don't press enter, how can you select an item from the combobox?
You press enter, then if you press alt-down arrow keys to open the combobox, you automatically go into browse mode!
And if you select an item from the combobox without pressing alt-down arrow, NVDA doesn't tell you the selected item because the combobox is dynamic and change language in a second.

I thought I mention Current W10. Before NVDA 2017 my PC was going fast and NVDA was doing well. Nothing change with my PC. It is not my PC, again it is not my PC.

Yes, it would be interesting to know which operating system and which actual
version of it is running and what is also running in the background as well.

No issues here. Everything starts up as expected, and all is as snappy as
it can be, even more so.

Take care

Well, I think a lot of the problems we see are very niche from their point of view. IE you only encounter them with a screenreader really. If they could make some way to make say all work on a whole file that would be a big start.
I remember when it was Symphony, there was discussion between ibm and Dolphin about using a scroll bar to tell when you got to the end of a file when reading it.

Hi,

Months ago I described many issues when using LibreOffice with NVDA.

I learnd to live with these annoyances and now I am aware that they will
not be solved. I even think that using LibreOffice with NVDA will get
worse because

I feel that there is no comunication between the developers of both
software. It is enough to say that something so usefull as changing
between focus and brouse modes don't work in LibreOffice.
Unfortunately, I have nor the time, the patience or the knowledge to use
the standard ways of reporting bugs.
So, I decided to stick with the LibreOffice version that better suits my
needs and at the same time has less problems ((5.2).
As I can't afford Office, maybe I will ask for Ms for a donnation.

Re: how to get the blank lines not to be spoken when using NVDA to read mail in thunderbird?

Travis Siegel <tsiegel@...>

I'm not sure why this question with thunderbird even comes up.  When you press enter on a message, thunderbird automatically reads the message, there's no need to arrow down or use read to end at all, it automatically reads when the message opens, and it does it all by itself, the NVDA support for thunderbird is very good in that regard.

If you are using the default desktop keyboard layout, speak to end is NVDA key down arrow.  Use the down arrow on the main keyboard.  You can use either insert.

Hello,

When you do the command to open the combo box, you must then turn off browse mode and go back into forms mode, which will allow you to use the arrows without issue.

Thanks.

In the following page, press the c letter until you arrive to "select

Try to use up and down arrow keys, and use alt-down arrow keys...
For me it is not possible!

Re: google chrome and combobox: here is an example when it doesn't work

Gene

Evidently, the problem is that the combo box can't be opened because you go into browse mode when you try to open it.

What happens if you manually go into forms mmode, NVDA key space, then try to open the combo box?  The same thing may happen but both methods should be tested.

Yes, also because if you don't press enter, how can you select an item
from the combobox?
You press enter, then if you press alt-down arrow keys to open the
combobox, you automatically go into browse mode!
And if you select an item from the combobox without pressing alt-down
arrow, NVDA doesn't tell you the selected item because the combobox is
dynamic and change language in a second.
