Unless you are in Browse mode, you use the find command in the program you are working with.  If you are in browse mode in Word, you would use control NVDA f.  If you are not in browse mode, you would use whatever command Word uses.

Hi I am trying NVDA with Thunderbird the latest version.

So how do you make Thunderbird when using NVDA say unread and then where or who the message came from and then the subject and then the time that it was sent?

Also when Thunderbird tells you the time when you are looking at your list of messages.

How do you get rid of the 0 before it tells you what time the message came in at?

For example say A message came in at 2:15 p.m when looking threw your message it will say the time as 02:15 with out the : of course.

I just but that in to the time would say correctly.

So can you correct these things if so how?

i reported many bugs and request in libreoffice and some of them are solved.
i have many books and some of them could not be open with libreoffice
and the result was crash!
fortunately, libreoffice developers solved them kindly for me.

just you can subscribe in

www.bugs.libreoffice.org

after subscribing, you can enter your user name and password and
report anything you need for improving libreoffice.

i installed 5.3 and its the greatest version of libreoffice realy!

For those wondering, Symphony was the original name when IBM had the
code.
Also on other parts of the  program, it seems that the database part

Yes, also because if you don't press enter, how can you select an item from the combobox?
You press enter, then if you press alt-down arrow keys to open the combobox, you automatically go into browse mode!
And if you select an item from the combobox without pressing alt-down arrow, NVDA doesn't tell you the selected item because the combobox is dynamic and change language in a second.

Hi all.
I have got a small issue which doesn't impact in any way the use of my computer, but I always wanted to find out why.
I am using windows 10 with the latest updates and the windows 10 essentials addon.
When I go to the desk top, nvda says folder view list instead of identifying the desk top correctly.
On my windows 7 machine it works correctly.
I don't know if it has got something to do with my display settings.
As I said it is not something major but I find it a bit strange.

In later windows more privacy is needed, so it normally works but occasionally it will bring up the user access control dialogue or alert in 7 and above. This was not in the xp version of windows.
However I have no qualms about setting it to off either in the dialogue or via the registry hack as it is annoying if you are the only user of a machine, it can pop up every time you want to install anything, apparently randomly. Brian

Use NVDA on the Windows logon screen (requires administrator privileges)

and also Use currently saved settings on the logon and other secure

But you are on XP and things may well be different there to on more modern versions of course. Having said that I use 2017.3 on xp with no issues. I have actually got both the last working snaps for this os as well, and personally I'd suggest trying the latest master snap that works in xp. It does, to me at least seem less prone to the odd sluggish period. Why, no idea.

My friend would suggest its actually a recent windows update combined with nvda, but sometimes its fine and sometimes even opening an email has an issue.
Stability is the problem. I am glad I did not plump for Outlook as I find its a bit like building a nuclear submarine when all you need is a rowing boat.

Ah, that was the crash I was hoping was only on Windows 10. Ok, if it's
the same thing, the best workaround we've found so far is to use
control+shift+tab to get to the folder list, then select your folder from
there.

Control+y, or using control+1, control+2 etc, or even clicking on folders
with the mouse all seem to produce this crash. From what we've found, it's
something Microsoft have changed in Outlook recently.

Yes I have a friend with an old Outlook who is on this list and it randomly crashes on viewing a message and I'm still not sure if its windows nvda or abit of both. Why only Outlook seems to be affected from 2003 onwards and not for all is intriguing.

From the preferences menu appears the "Weather Plus Settings" item?
What do you see about Weather Plus  from tools, manage addons?
There must be only "Weather Plus; Status: running; Version: 4.5 15.09.2017".
If the status is remove, has not been properly uninstalled.
Let me know that I want to understand.

When you get to the add on a sub menu will come off it and say nset and manage your settings press the enter key on it.

the next screen will give you a whole eahp of options. The very first place where it lands will let you put in a town or ciy etc. In my case i say put hawera then tabbed to a button that says Test
This testing the validity of city woeID entry and find the name of city assigned, or v then pressed the space bar. It will then come up with some results. You can then arrow down the results and when you find the one you want use the tab key so it lands on the ok button then press the space bar.

it will then take you back to where you typed in the name of the town or city tab once it will land you on a button that will give you details to make sure it is the correct town or city tab again and it will give you the option to add it to the list press the space bar on it.

You can also keep on tabbing and there will be other options to choose from just use the space bar to check or uncheck the boxes you want to hear. make sure you tab to the ok button then press the space bar for it to take affect.

You can also preset that place as your default when you press the nvda key + letter W

You can also add more places by repeating the steps to add more places.

If you say added 4 you can get to them quickly by pressing the nvda key + ctrl key + shift key + letter W then arrow down the list to the one you want to hear from with nvda key + W.
