There is something to be said about not being up to date sometimes.

Well I seemed to recall this was the case for an earlier reporter and was just trying to find some common denominator. Could it be somehow related, but who knows. Otherwise as nothing has changed could the mismatch of not selected in the temp copy mean that it gets configured when setting it up to use the same shortcut and copies the settings incorrectly somewhere?

If you've got the log from the install or when the new version first ran
after installing - it will be one of those two times that the setting got
changed. Whether there is an entry for it in the log is another question
(possibly depending on your log level).

It is an odd one...

It could be another issue like mine on restarting after an update sometimes fails with that error and the log is written in the main nvda folder saying the log could not be written to. As I say, its just happened again with one of this mornings updates, so the termination of the temp copy of the installer just locks up during the shut down process locking everything when it tries to restart.

Hi all,

Yet another rc now available. RC3 fixes some performance issues in applications such as MIRC which draw a lot of text using Windows GDI. (#7803).

I'm really hoping to get the official 2017.4 release out on Monday. Fingers crossed.

Used the check for updates under the help of the NVDA UI. Installed RC 3 over RC2. For some reason during the update the Windows 10 settings screen opened and was showing the settings for Narrator. Never seen this happen before. Doesn't seem to have caused any issues with the update just strange that it happened.

The problem occurs though if its a different office version.

I don't think Microsoft have altered the installers and uninstallers at all and also have still got the bug in the old versions of course as they are installed.
What we really need to know here is this. If this command we all have to use in such cases, is used when the problem is either not there or is a different problem does it have adverse effects on an installed windows system.

Office installers have a habbit of unregistering dlls but if you reinstall office that should be ok.

It may be the unregistered dlls problem again. Others can comment further and I don't know if it could cause such problems but it causes problems when office is removed so that's my guess.

I bet you can't use Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome either.

Hi,

today, in the work workstation,I've decided to unistall Office 2016 and
install Office 2010, because nvda work very well with office 2010.

The IT team decide to remove office with Microsoft Removal Tool.

After this operation the IT operator install office 2010.

After rebboting the system, windows 10, nvda don't work fine.

Don't read a lot of program interface, this is an extract nvda log:

Sounds like its the old Microsoft uninstall not re registering dlls issue. I thought they had supposedly fixed this but maybe not, obviously!

I don't think this is the issue. the issue is convenience of hearing the info wherever you are without invoking new windows to find it.

I don't know where you are looking but in properties for the drive, it shows used space and free space.

Has a keystroke been introduced to let us know how much space is left on the drives with actual figures and not have to subtract to get the actual amount of space left? For instance mine says C:\ (NTFS unidad): 258.13gb de 280.79gb utilizado 91.9%. F:\ (FAT32 unidad): 7.25mb de 1.99gb utilizado 0.4%. when I'd like it to have a keystroke where it'd say something like (NTFS unidad): Space remaining 22.6 GBlike this for all the drives. Would such a keystroke for instance of the eight be possible to implement?

Hi all,

Resource Monitor and Windows 10 App Essentials have been updated to version 17.12. Resource Monitor will now recognize 64-bit ARM processors on Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, and exciting features from the next Windows 10 feature update are now supported via Windows 10 App Essentials.

Enjoy.

Cheers,

Jacob:

My home page is at https://sites.google.com/site/fredm/.  At the bottom are the links to the chess programs, including ChessSpeak.  Click on the "down arrow" to the far right of the window and it will download the program.

One issue is was unable to find any real form of a download link to try out your software on your site?

This program allows for speech input from the player and replies with voice output. It has been used by many players over the past few years.

I wrote the program so that a sighted person could play with a regular chessboard, across the room from the computer, without using the mouse or keyboard (although it is not entirely hands free). I  did not intend this application for blind people, but have discovered there is interest in the blind community. ChessSpeak was developed without my awareness of NVDA.  One user told me he is using NVDA and that led me to this group.

How can I make ChessSpeak more friendly to blind people?  What are some very general, and then some specific guidelines?  I have read the Developers' Guide (https://www.nvaccess.org/files/nvda/documentation/developerGuide.html) and understand it in a general way, although my Python skills are not strong.

If anyone could offer me specific suggestions or help for my application I would appreciated it. If anyone wants to develop the NVDA linkage to ChessSpeak that would be wonderful.
