When I try to disable or remove the eset plugin I just get that only an administrator can remove this plugin for outlook.

But, I am an admin on the machine. Any idea how to remove?

Okay, is this the case with NVDA 2016.4, 2017.1 and 2017.2? If one of those had no errors, chances are that it might be something introduced recently, but if all three have errors, then looks like a call to Microsoft might be in order.

I run in safe mode and the problem doesn’t exist.

If I have that single plugin the errors happen.

Re: new messages keep going to the bottom in thunderbird

I've done that twice already. HHere are the steps I took.

1. I went to the view menu with alt V.

2. I arrowed down to "date" and it was checked.

3. I then arrowed down to "descending" and hit enter on it to check it. I shut the computer down to go do something else. When I came back, the new messages were on the bottom again. Maybe there might be something else I need to check or set.

I just wanted to let you know the steps I took.

Re: new messages keep going to the bottom in thunderbird

Yes.  The sort order in Thunderbird (and a number of other e-mail clients) is based on the sort column selected and the direction of sort you specify for the column.

Using the instructions for moving Thunderbird columns get to the "Date" column column and, for lack of a better description, activate it.  When you do this it will make it the sort column.  Then check to make sure that the messages are sorting either newest to oldest (which is what I presume you want) or oldest to newest.  If the sort is backward then repeat the navigate to and activate again, and that will reverse the direction.  If you accidentally ever activate another column the sort will go on that column, but it's easy to get it back to the column you want and in the order you want.

Hi Hank,

By Windows 10 developer, do you mean the Windows 10 insider builds?  The Insider program is (despite the name) pretty much open to anyone, and lets you download essentially "beta" versions of updates to Windows 10.  If you're interested in that, you can find more information and downloads here: https://insider.windows.com/

If you mean Joseph's Windows 10 App Essentials, it's available on the NVDA Addons page: https://addons.nvda-project.org/index.en.html

On that page are links to both the stable and development versions.

Re searching on the web, NVDA's find command is NVDA+control+f, which brings up the find dialog, type your text and press ENTER.  If the text is on the page, it moves focus to it, otherwise it puts up a dialog box advising it wasn't found.  To move to the next instance, press NVDA+f3.  To move to the previous instance, press NVDA+shift+f3.

Regards

Quentin.

Re: NVDA and Google Chrome

Gene

I saw a post, perhaps on this list a number of days ago where someone explained how to get first letter navigation to work in the tool bar.  Perhaps that information will be posted again.  It isn't difficult to get into the book marks menu and, depending on what you find out and determine by experimenting, you may want to use this procedure:
Press alt to move to the menu.  Press enter to open the menu.
Type b to move to book marks, then press enter.
So the sequence is, alt, enter, b, enter.  Not as convenient as having a short cut command, but not that bad as an alternative.

Hi Gene

Thanks for that, works well but you have to use tab to access each link whereas the menu listing them allows first letter access unless you use the letter b which loads the Bookmarks Manager.  I’ve sent some feedback to Google complaining about this.

Any time you want to move to a different part of the same window, use f6.  If you use f6, you will move to the bookmarks tool bar.  And you can leave it on if you wish.  It doesn't interfere with other functions.

Hello

Let's clarify!

1 - The command to read the status bar is:
Desktop layout - NVDA+End
Laptop layout - NVDA+Shift+End

2 - The End key is the one found on the six-pad between the letters and numeric keyboard, normally above the arrow keys.

The sleep mode and also using the nvda key + S does not work, so would or should work with going into the synth settings and settings that to no speech could work in the profile.

I usually just toggle off the speech when i go into a self voicing program. then turn it back on after wards.

good evening list; marv here.  Having a problem with nvda; when I loaded it, it was speaking in a language I do not understand.  Want to have it speak english; how do I accomplish this? I even uninstalled and reinstalled nvda with the same language results.  Any help getting it back to english would be appreciated.
