Re: Collapsing All Threads In The Mail App Windows 10

Greg Rhodes <gkrhodes@...>

When I’m deleting a thread of messages in the MS Mail app, I arrow down the message list. NVDA usually (but not always) reads the number of messages in the thread or announces “Level 2 (which is a listting of each message) or “Level 1” which is the entire thread. If NVDA says Level 1, I can hit the delete key and delete all messages in the thread. If NVDA says Level 2, I need to press the left arrow to change the focus to Level 1 and then hit the delete key. I’ve found, however, that sometimes I need to hit the right arrow once or twice until I hear Level 2, then hit the left arrow to get to Level 1. Hope that helps.

Still asking Microsoft to add an F6 command that will allow me to get to my list of email accounts (left hand column of Mail screen. F6 will currently toggle you between the Message list and the Reading pane. If I want to get to my list of email accounts, I have to do a Shift/Tab about 12 times. If anyone knows of a quicker way to get to the list of email accounts, please let me know.

I don’t know how to collapse all threads as I believe the charactgeristic of Mail is that the thread automatically opens in Mail when focus is on the thread. What is I do is just focus on any mail  in the list and press left arrow a couple of times and then you will hear collapsed. You can press the delete key now to delete the thread if you want or coursor down to the next thread.

I'd love to know that too, and an easier way to move between messages in a thread. This is what I love about the web Gmail app, the easy navigation between threaded messages.

Now that window eyes has pretty much gone away, it took something important along with it. see this website for more info. my question is this, could an addon be made for NVDA so students could use NVDA with logger pro and other science technology engineering and math solutions in the stem field? website is when vfo got rid of window eyes they also got rid of the ability of students to learn and work in stem fields. Perhaps crowd funding could fund a project to give NVDA similar functionality?

Hi Gary,

I use VLC media player with NVDA, and it works great, because there is a NVDA addon, just to make NVDA work better in VLC. It is so easy to use, and you can play even blue ray DVDs with it.

You can download it from doing a google search, and it is free and Open source just like NVDA is.

You can add plug ins to it to make it into a audio and video editor. NVDA works with VLC better than many players that I have tried, especially with the NVDA add on just for VLC.

Have a good one, Gary!

But there may be a specific reason Windows Media Player must be usede in this case.  Groove Music is a streaming service and, assumedly, it allows music to be listened to off line, but I would thing the music is DRM protected and would become available off line even if ripped or burned because such services don't want people to have music from them available if they are no longer members.  Such services make money by having people listen to and have access to music as members, not by members having access to music when no longer members.

Also, is the correct terminology being used?  Rip is creating MP3 files from a CD.  Do you, the person who asked the question, want MP3 files, from ripping, or do you want to burn a CD and have the music on a CD?  You say rip a CD and, since many people don't use correct terms for ripping and burning, this should be clarified.  I'm not assuming you use incorrect terms.  But since I don't know, I want to be sure you are actually wanting to rip and not burn a CD.

As far as I'm aware sometimes it offers to remember the log in but often

the log in then fails and then you have a problem. Now it seems to have

given up.

Is there a checkbox to turn this so that you have remembered it but only

when its successful and how do you delete ones that are not.

Obviously something is not clear to me about this logic.

To my sense of logic, really it should be possible to look up a page you

had a failed log in on put the data in and only if its successful should you

allow it to be saved. Also it really should have an auto function so it

drives the browser through the whole process if you select that as an

option. I see nothing like that unless there is a firefox add on for it.The

only add ons I see in firefox is the ad blocker and the system sounds one,

though when I look at the info kept about firefox in ccleaner the session

details are seen as 0 bytes so one wonders if the password manager is doing

anything at all.

However the next time you log in even if you saaid yes, although it can remember the username it seems to nearly always fail by filling in the worng password or should I say sites seem to think it has.
This is why I wanted something that I could check out and manually edit.

Hi what I'd really like and it is either obvious to others how this is done
or it exists and I've not found it in browsers is a way to, say bring up a
list of web sites I use a lot which need logginh in as many these days do,
hit enter and hey preesto, its in.
I envisage a simple interface with page address of log in. Username and
password fields, probably held encrypted in some way for security.
The plethora of different passwords etc now needed is doing my working
brain cell in, so if anyone has an nvda friendly way to achieve this with
Firefox as the default browser, do share it. I've seen some password
managers but reading about them often gives me no clue if they do what I
need accessibly or not its all click this and that stuff.

Thanks.

There are a number of tickets or issues on this already.
As githubs site is a trifle messy, in my opinion. and you need to set up an account to report the issue, why not describe it in detail including the exact versions of what you are using, every important if windows 10, on the nvda development list.
If it exists, somebody is bound to tell you the issue number there or if its not a current known issue then give you a hand to report it.
Indeed after the weekend someone on here may be able to do the same, but I know there have been issues with Outlook Ingeneral on nvda on windows 10 of late.

To all listers

Just try using NVDA 2017.3 with Microsoft Outlook 2016, and see some error.
How to report this to NVDA's Developers?

My NvDA didn't read anything when navigate in the message list in Outlook
2016. I Restarted with add-on disable, but the problem still occurs.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'd figure the password manager built into the browser should be enough. I used to use lastpass back in the day, but I can't be bothered with password managers myself. I just use the same 20 or 30 rotating passwords. That way I can deliberately forget the ones for sites I don't want to log into. Big fat disclaimer, I have no sensitive data.

Hi

I have NVDA17.3, running in a win10 os.

If I run latest JAWS in 40 minute mode, then quit, I am unable to
restart NVDA (ctrl + alt +N) in the same session

In order to restart NVDA, I need to reboot.

Is anyone else experiencing this ?

Thanks, Paul

Re: Collapsing All Threads In The Mail App Windows 10

David Griffith

I don’t know how to collapse all threads as I believe the charactgeristic of Mail is that the thread automatically opens in Mail when focus is on the thread. What is I do is just focus on any mail  in the list and press left arrow a couple of times and then you will hear collapsed. You can press the delete key now to delete the thread if you want or coursor down to the next thread.

I'd love to know that too, and an easier way to move between messages in a thread. This is what I love about the web Gmail app, the easy navigation between threaded messages.

To be honest wordpress.com just doesn't work, wordpress itself is fine I can make blogs and such but yeah its not that good after that.

Your best bet is to log to www.wordpress.com/wp-admin.

Once you login go to m.wordpress.com and a dumbed down wordpress appears you can select which blog to post at and you can post to blogs like that sadly not login like that but still thats how you do it.

The only issue is your dates for posts will be at the end of the post rather than the top but its worked for me.

Just to be clear you are using wordpress.com and not a self hosted wordpres ssite right? If so that might be the issue as that site is a pain in the back side to navigate wiht any screen reader.

This was also the experience using jas 18 and 2018 using Firefox and Windows 10 but not the Fall update.
There seems to have been some changes on the site recently which has deteriorated the situation. Up until recently I was able to publish OK. Now it seems impossible. As I say I am getting around this by using the email submission feature but this should benot be necessary.

Wordpress may be technically accessible but personally I find it extremely confusing and difficult to use.
It is certainly not straightforward.
For example I have recently been stuck in submitting only as draft and using NVDA and Jaws could find no way of amending this o actually publish. Rather than publishing when you hit the publish button you re taken to other options which my screenreader at least struggles to deal with.
In the end I managed to struggle through my wordpress blog settings and managed to change them to allow submission by email which has sorted this to a basic level. Even here on the settings page it was not at all clear. I hit enable buttons but it was not clear as to what these buttons referred to.
More by luck than anything else I managed to make the change.
I think Wordpress has a lot to do to make the site more usable.

Well if you use the latest wordpress theme then it will always be accessible.
But most things injegno I think is what is being used on another site but there is a custom style and all that jazz.
I am a beta tester of the wordpress platform and our themes are always accessible, the 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013 and 2012 themes all should work.
maybe our older ones will work to I am unsure but the latest theme you get with the latest version should always work.
Its easy enough if you do have a website or server.
As long as you have php 5.0 or whatever the latest version of that and mysql is installed as well as cpanel then its about all you need.
You need a mysql database to run the entire junket.
You then just load the base package and configure it, and bar some plugins it should just autoupdate for you in most cases.
Wordpress.com is good though I use it and its mobile site for my personal blog.
What I have done after creation is use wordpress.com/wp-admin and then its got me into the site then I use m.wordpress.com to access that.
But its easy as long as you turn the visual editor off.
For other platforms.
If wordpress is not your thing the next easy one is blogger.
Blogger and blogspot are part of google and all account holders of google including gmail and youtube have access to this.
3.  droople and maybe a couple others are usable but ofcause there are different setups it all depends what you want.
