Let's clean up that huge run-on sentence from my last message, that I failed to break up before hitting send. What follows should be both far more readable and make more sense.
It is my opinion that every NVDA user should, as a matter of practice, install the Add-ons documentation add-on. It makes access to the detailed documentation that now comes packaged with the majority of NVDA Add-ons very quick and easy. You'll often find the answers to your questions about add-ons very promptly by taking a look at their documentation rather than by asking here and waiting for someone to respond. I hasten to add that those questions are entirely appropriate, and welcome, but if speed is of the essence, you have an option much more closely at hand and under your own control. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Science has become just another voice in the room; it has lost its platform. Hi, Another way to view add-on documentation (provided that the add-on author did provide it in the right format and in the right location) is Add-ons Manager/Add-on help button. Cheers, Joseph

Add-on 17.09 isn't optimized for newer Windows 10 releases such as April 2018 Update. Although that add-on release will read various things on Windows 10, it won't recognize certain things added in newer Windows 10 releases. Cheers, Joseph

Issue with focus mode in some controls NVDA 2020.2 beta
Bruno Aníbal Prieto González
Hello!
I'm having the next issue with the latest NVDA beta. In some edit fields, pressing left or right arrows at the beginning or end of the box, NVDA moves to other controls. This happens to me in Microsoft Teams for example, or in Microsoft Sway. With NVDA 2020.1 it doesn't happen. Does something like this happen to anyone? It also happens sometimes that when you move through UWP or Win32 controls, for example when you reach the music tree in iTunes, it doesn't read, music tree, but it reads directly the name of the song. In the Windows 10 mail application, sometimes it does not read that it is a list where the senders of a mail appear, but it reads the mail directly. Sometimes it reads it, sometimes it doesn't. In Microsoft Edge, when passing through tabs, sometimes it doesn't read the name of the tab, but it reads directly a control of that page, like a link. These things didn't happen in NVDA 2020.1. I'd like to know if anyone else has these issues or could try to replay them so I can be more confident that it's not just my problem and report it. Regards

To answer the second question, yes 2017.3 works with Windows 10. Note that as far as the add-on is concerned, WinTenApps does not support 2017.3 To answer Peter's question (and to expand on Brian's answer): Windows 10 App Essentials is an add-on that improves accessibility and usability of controls found in Windows 10, along with improving usability of some built-in apps such as Calculator, Microsoft Store and others. The add-on sometimes serves as an extended beta testing facility where features under consideration for inclusion in NVDA are tested in public e.g. support for announcing hardware keyboard input suggestions was first made available on the add-on, then included in NVDA in late 2018. Cheers, Joseph

blank lines add on.
Sue J. Ward
Hello. Does anyone know if there is an addon where you can turn off the feature where if NVDA says blank if there is a blank line or a carriage return it says blank and would like to turn it off cause when am reading emails I come to a lot of blank lines or returns in an email and keep on hearing: blank, blank and it kind of drives me crazy so would like if it all possible to turn off this feature with in the add on if the add on is in the works maybe it might work with nvda 2010.1 onward. Thank you.

To tell what version of windows you have, hit the windows logo key and type "winver" in the search box without the quotes and hit enter. You should hear the version of windows you're on.
