I have also noticed that any attempt at cursor movement in Word 2003 gives an error sound in snapshots but seems to have no other issue from how it works.

Simply install or use as a portable the latest snapshot on the next branch in the development snapshots. I imagine that they will eventually appear in the Master branch, so do not wait till its a done deal to moan if this is what you are thinking.

As I say I'd like to see a choice of any sound you like. Its not a mega important issue right now but the ability to choose would be good. I know for example on Dolphin there are several selections of beep for caps.

You need to perhaps create an issue on github if you feel strongly then. If you do, I'll add my voice, but I'm not against the changes, just that I think they are less audible and less idedentifiable escpecially for those with a hf loss in their hearing.

I'd agree but to my ears, no matter how hyped up they get about sound on laptops they all sound tinny and rattle the keys if played loud.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
I think the suck it and see approach is going to be the only way out. Its not unknown for some desktops to suffer from these issues as well. sometimes one can select a speaker config that will turn all the fancy rubbish off, but finding it and finding if its accessible are other challenges. I tend to use a little sound box plugged into usb myself on all machines as often the internal sound output is noisy with interference generated inside the computer so if you want good sound, say through a hi fi you are not going to get it without an external card and often a powered hub to get rid of 5v line noise on the usb as well... sigh. I have seen temp copies not rad the list very well due to the fact it cannot access the accessability api due to privelidge issues, ie it needs to be admin. It should be verbal notification by default. System Access doesn't have a forms and browse mode because it is designed somehow to allow the page to be changed such as in edit fields and to allow browsing at the same time. However, this imposes limitations on what you can do. I haven't used System Access to Go hardly at all for a long time but I recall coming across occasions where I wanted to do something I couldn't do because I couldn't switch between browse and forms mode. So long as there is some sort of indication that brouse mode is on, I don't see a problem with getting rid of sounds. System Access doesn't have a brouse mode at all. You simply go to the website go to the edit field you want and type. It used to allow you to type in any edit field. It doesn't work with Google anymore. Regardless, it's an idea for the NVDA developers.

His message is in English, but the language is set to Danish, so automatic language switching tries to read it in Danish.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
There are two ways to get around this: 1. Turn off automatic language switching in NVDA's Voice Settings dialog. Disabling that will keep the synthesizer in one language, with the disadvantage that it won't automatically switch for you if you have a properly marked up document in multiple languages. 2. Switch to a synthesizer that can't switch languages.

Could someone using Outlook 2003 please file an issue with the exact steps: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues Actually, if someone using Office 2003 could test something for me in Excel with NVDA 2017.2 - someone reported that cell coordinates aren't being reported when using the arrow keys to move between cells. There is a setting in NVDA's document formatting options to report "cell coordinates" which needs to be on. If someone could confirm whether cell coordinates are reported in Excel 2003 with that setting checked that would be great please! Kind regards Quentin.

Re: Moving to NVDA
Quentin Christensen
Gene made a guide on switching from Window-Eyes to NVDA if that would help: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda-community/wiki/Switching-from-Window-Eyes-to-NVDA Also, in NVDA, if there is a command, you really want to stick to the Window-Eyes command for, you can use the "Input Gestures" dialog to customise it. The NVDA key is usually either INSERT or CAPS LOCK. To get to the Input Gestures screen: 1. Press NVDA+n 2. Press P for preferences 3. Either up arrow to "Input Gestures" (it's near the bottom) then ENTER or press N. 4. Choose a command to edit. 5. Press ALT+A to add a gesture 6. Type the new gesture 7. Press ENTER twice (once to accept and then once more to close the dialog - alternatively just accept the new keystroke then return to step 4 to find a new command to add a gesture for). Regards Quentin.

Re: Spelling what is on the clipboard?
Gene
I'm not sure what is in later versions of
Windows. Windows XP has a clipboard viewer. The easiest thing to do
for now, if an NVDA add on doesn't have the ability, is to copy the text into
Notepad and check the spelling.

clipboard? No, there is no way via NVDA core itself that you can currently spell clipboard contents. You may check the ClipContent Designer NVDA add-on, and if this functionality is not available (which it probably isn't, as far as I recall), you can suggest it to Nolia. Thanks. Can you give steps to reproduce? Does it happen every time you use the arrow keys in the tree view? I haven't got Windows 8.1 in front of me to test with just now, so if I can get as many details as possible for when I can test it that would be great. Regards Quentin.
