Re: remote servers
Brian Moore
There have been a bunch that have scome and gone over the last few years. what I ended up doing is putting up my own on a machine that has a public ip address and use it..
I also set up a free dynamic dns account on that machine in case its IP changes. Pretty unlikely but it could happen and I have the updater client installed so the dynamic name will always resolve unless the internet connection itself goes down in which case, name resolution wouldn't matter.
There are prebuilt binaries for most platforms for the NVDA remote server or you can compile your own from source if you want to do that too. Brian. Contact me on skype: brian.moore follow me on twitter: http://www.twitter.com/bmoore123 On 6/17/2020 11:50 AM, Brian Vogel

I found this page: https://jc-hosting.me/nvdaremote.php Which indicates that jc-hosting.me is an unofficial server. No date on that page, and since I don't use NVDA Remote I can't say whether this one is still alive or not. But offering up the server IDs that are being used is the way to build a list. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Science has become just another voice in the room; it has lost its platform. IBM Gonvda add on. It won't make it to the official list. You might be able to find the one with the DLL included. It sounds just like eloquence, cuts off a bit, but works, and works with nvda 19.x and higher. -- Sarah Alawami, owner of TFFP. . For more info go to our website. Hi Group,

I also had this happen with the SAPI 5 version of Eloquence. Apparently, with the latest Windows update, it somehow deactivated the license key. I saved my license key in the e-mail that authorized the sale and so it was a simple matter to reauthorize by opening the product via the desktop icon and then clicking the enter key button and pasting in the key. It reauthorized the software. I wish they would make the necessary change in the software that would allow Windows to update without this random happening.

Today, when I turned my laptop on, NVDA shows a Vocalizer license is invalid error. Off Topic: for anyone with a small biz, EIDL grants back open
Luke Davis
Hello all
I got Nimer's permission to post the following. Please do not respond to this on list, as it is entirely OT, and the topic will be locked. I know a lot of us have small businesses of one kind or another, or are self-employed (income reflected on form 1099). I don't want any of my fellow blind business owners, especially those who have been effected by COVID-19, to miss out on this potentially business-saving support. If you are in the united States, and you have a business, the Small Business Administration's EIDL program is back open. EIDL stands for Economic Injury Disaster Loan, although in this case I'm talking about the grant component. The last time this was open, it was only open for a very! short time (less than two weeks). The intent of the program is to provide low interest 30 year loans. However whether or not you qualify for or want a loan, before the loan, they provide what they call an "advance". This is a grant (I.E. you do not have to pay it back), of between $1,000 and $10,000. If you have a business, even a soul proprietorship that you alone work for, you are considered an employee of that business, and you likely qualify for at least the $1,000 per employee, if not the entire $10,000 that Congress ordered the SBA to give. The online form doesn't take long, and is entirely accessible with NVDA or the screenreader of your choice. Note! When filling out the form, you absolutely must be sure you check the box to request the $10,000 advance. It's on the third page of the form, I believe. Do not hit the final submit without checking that box. There is no obligation to accept the loan even if they offer one, and if you do be very careful of the terms. That is beyond the scope of this message; just be aware that you don't have to, and may not want to, accept the loan. But the advance (the grant) comes with no obligation. The form to fill out is at: https://covid19relief.sba.gov A (sighted) couple who makes videos on Youtube has made a walkthrough, which you might find useful and/or informative. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1J86A33DYQ I hope this message helps someone who didn't otherwise know about this; good luck! In case I need to say it: this message does not constitute legal or financial advice. If you need any of that, consult someone licenced to give it. Luke

Från: Vincent Le Goff
Hello everyone,
I don't know if I should write here, but it's mostly to see if others had this issue. Perhaps I was unlucky. I often am with technology.
So I purchased CodeFactory eloquence and it worked well... until it didn't. Now my profile with Eloquence in it won't start. When selecting it I have a dialog telling me that CodeFactory will open settings to check registration. I say okay and yes when Windows asks me if this software should be allowed to perform admin tasks. The settings open... but on clicking on ok I get a simple error: couldn't load synthesizer. This happens if I select the speech synthesizer in NVDA's settings as well.
So I would guess: not an NVDA bug, most likely a CodeFactory bug. Still, as far as I know, things worked great before the update of the last NVDA version (I'm running on 2020.1 now). Then again, it can hardly be a Python version error, since I don't expect major changes took place in Python version between these NVDA versions.
Has anyone experienced similar issues? And found a quick fix? I like quick fixes... if they hold.
Thanks!
Vincent

Using that term, won't help you fixing it. I'm using nvdaremote.com a lot for many times a day for remote support. My network is private and my computers behind 2 routers. Other than the rare a few seconds connection drop offs once in a while I have no problems using it appreciatively. I'm sure whatever is going on with you not making it work properly, Is on your end of the network, routers port forwarding or your own provider blocking it. its on your end. As long its working fine with most of us, you know what that means. TC
