Use read status line.  You don't have to be in the folders list.  You can be in the message list as I recall.  I haven't used Outlook Express for many years but as I recall, you will hear how many messages are in the list and how many are read and unread.  But if my memory is not quite correct, you will still hear what you want, that is the number of unread messages.  Read status line in NVDA is NVDA key end.  That is for the desktop layout.  I don't know the laptop layout command.

Hi, when using NVDA if you tab to your folders NVDA doesn’t say NVDA 5 unread messages is there any way to get it to automatically speak this info??

Hi all.

I am curious to know if this is a  bug.

I hope so, it is frustrating.

I’m using esEpak ng with nvda and windows 10.

I’m also using an asus laptop.

When I start reading in any way, usually, the first part of the letter will be uninteligable to me, and sometime even the whole word.

For example, when I press home to go to the top of this message to proof read it, instead of hi I heard i.

I checked audio ducking and it is totally turned off.

As you can imagine, this is also very frustrating when typing too even with key echo turned on.

Could someone look into it?

If so, thank you so so very much.

Have a nice day.

Scott

The Emoticons addon no longer seems to respond to :) :( :D or the other

can't make head nor tail of the regular expressions used in the emoticon

OK, I generally get around youtube pretty well, but there are two glaring issues. In Firefox, NVDA will get stuck in the video window and you cannot tab to the pause button or move over to a slider like the seek or volume slider. This occurs most if you fullscreen the video, but it can also just occur on its own. In chrome, this is not an issue, however, some videos will not activate when you press enter on them. NVDA will act like it is stuck somewhere, and you cannot tab around or arrow correctly until you alt-tab and shift-tab around. This firefox issue isn't new and I have tried many many things to fix it such as trying ALT-D or F6 to get into the address bar, by the way, does not work when NVDA is stuck like this. NVDA F5 to refresh NVDA's buffer. Using object nav to click the mouse on another part of the page...

Re: how do I stop nvda from speaking cursor messages?

Hello,

The setting is in the "Mouse Settings" dialog accessed within the NVDA Menu under the "Preferences" submenu. Once in the "Mouse Settings" dialog, you want to uncheck the box that says something about announcing when mouse changes shape if I remember correctly.

Hope this helps,

Jeffrey

I managed to add my email account with JAWS and OE classic and noticed that OE classic does not have automatic IMAP support. I disabled POP on my gmail anyway, but OE classic, the most recent one, kept trying to connect to the POP server, so, basically, if anyone is using OE classic and the jaws scripts for it you may need to put IMAP information in later unless I am a ditsy and I am missing something obvious. :)

Re: dictation bridge help

Hi,
Nothing else comes to my mind tat the moment as I don't use Dragon to test this add-on (I use WSR).

Hi,
Yep, this suggests Dragon might have been installed somewhere other than paths assumed by the add-on.

not sure if this is what you were after

>>> os.environ["programfiles"]
'C:\\Program Files (x86)'
>>> os.environ["programw6432"]
'C:\\Program Files'

Hi,
To copy console output, after you type commands, press F6, then copy what you see in the edit field.

Hi,
One more: Can you do the following for me:
1. Open NVDA Python Console (Control+NVDA+Z).
2. Type the following as exactly as shown (press ENTER after each line):
os.environ["programfiles"]
os.environ["programw6432"]
Reply to me with whatever you get from these commands. Perhaps Dragon was installed somewhere other than default program files path.
Cheers,
Joseph
