Nope - since it runs the arm-based hardware, it can only currently really run linux-based operating systems in full operation modes.

In other words, I have a few different versions of the raspbian OS here as well as a version of ubuntu mate running on some of them, but, there's no possibility to run Microsoft windows on it as such. Think there might also be a way to run a version of android OS on it, but, not too sure about that either. Yes one use might be, for example to make a digital tv system that talks out of a pi and some dongles for the local tv and maybe the internet catch up channels. Of course often the most expensive part for makers of such speciialist kit would be the boxes they go in and remote controls etc. As unit volumes would make it still more expensive than a normal non speaking bit of kit from the high street.

Brian's Mail list account <bglists@...>
If this is true, than somebody needs to tell dropbox. In the past they ave fixed issues quite quickly, like when the desktop client could not log in due to focus issues etc. it may well be that somebody over there has just made an authoring error. I would have thought though that flsh controls would be phased out as most sites that used these seem to be gradually using html 5 instead, which makes the links almost normal and not wthin an embedded object any more.

I was looking at the Drop Box site a few days ago and I found that files can't be deleted working with the web site using a screen-reader and the keyboard. This doesn't matter for those using the program but I'm curious about the implications for other inaccessible controls and on whether deletion can be done on the Drop box site. Accordingt to Drop Box help, you have to click the empty space to the right of the file name and a list of options will come up. I have no idea if a blind person can know when he/she is in the right place to click using a mouse nor do I know whether the options that come up are accessible using a screen-reader or a mouse. I'm curious also about some flash embedded objects that can't be worked with from the keyboard. Thanks for any information. I might buy a mouse and play around if it seems more access can be gotten in some situations. Gene

Re: Making the NVDA Key a "Sticky Key"
Jacob Kruger
Just tried it with windows own built-in sticky keys, and, it did seem to accept the NVDA key as a modifier key - so I could press NVDA key - numpad insert in this case - and then press letter T, and it read out title of window to me?
To invoke windows sticky keys - if you haven't come across this
before, hit the left shift key 5 times in quick succession.

Internet Explorer should not be removed. At least through Windows 8, I don't know about Windows 10, Windows uses certain aspects of Internet Explorer in other parts of Windows. If you remove it, certain Windows functions won't work properly or perhaps not at all.
You evidently have some problem that causes recent versions of Firefox not to work properly with NVDA or with Windows. we don't know what the incompatibility is. It may be a problem with your Windows installation, it may be something else.

Re: Making the NVDA Key a "Sticky Key"
Gene
I would think that a feature of this importance
should be incorporated into the screen-reader itself and not require an add
on. Also, I don't think that any mention of the add on is made in the
documentation.
Or, if preferable, and perhaps just as good an
option would be to incorporate certain add ons so that they are installed and
running when the program is installed.
Why can't certain add ons simply be installed and
run when the program is installed as a matter of course or be incorporated into
the program when they are this central to the program?

Does anyone have any ideas?

I think there is a problem with the access bridge in general. I use Open
Office and the latest version of JAWS but when I use the spreadsheet it freezes.
JAWS support had me install the latest Java and turn the access bridge on and it
worked fine until I rebooted my Pc. so they say I need to contact the access
team at Java.

Re: accessible antivirus
Brenda <bjnite@...>
Plese don't take this conversation off list.
I'm glad you shared this to the list. It is very valuable to know accessible virus programs. I don't see how this could be construed as advertising.
I have heard that Caspersky is now accessible once you can get it installed. If you do a google search for accessible virus programs with screen readers, etc, you should come upon an article by David goldfield about this. After he had issues with Windows Defender not catching viruses he investigated and chose Caspersky.
I'm still hoping for more input from listers on antivirus
programs that work well with NVDA and are highly rated in the
sighted world or other folks experiences with Caspersky which is a
good program.
thanks for sharing. brenda
