I use a made up key. Let's say I wanted my key to be sarahsucks123. I could type that in. Or if I wanted the key to be nvda13, I just type that in, it can be letters and numbers. hope that helps a bit. Sarah Alawami, owner of TFFP. . How to hide rows with certain text value in Excel
Cristóbal
Hello list, So, I’m having a bit of a brain cramp here and need a refresher. I periodically receive an excel spreadsheet (Office 2016) with hundreds of rows of data for my interpreting business. I have to select which assignments I can cover. There are a myriad of languages and services in this spreadsheet throughout the state of California. As I mainly cover Spanish language assignments, filtering by that language is easy enough, but within that language, there is another criteria in another cell specifying the type of interpretation service requested. Legal, Medical, standard, etc. So, I don’t really cover legal interpretation And this is where I’m stuck. I’d like to be able to hide the appointments/rows where the requested service is “In Court Certified,” but can’t find where to do it. I’ve poked around online and there are some step-by-step instructions, but either I can’t follow the sequence or they involve macros. I’m not against using macros per say even though I’m not too familiar with them, but I figure there has to be a way to simply hide the rows I’m not interested in seeing and condensing the spreadsheet. These appointments are pretty much first come first serve, so being able to better filter out the superfluous ones would be a huge help to my productivity instead of sifting through one by one to see if it’s legal or not. I’m mainly a Jaws user, but I suppose this sort of inquiry can apply to Jaws or NVDA. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Cristóbal

Jackie, this is what I was doing to no avail. I was using a simple key of three numbers. Could this be the problem?

Re: tubi add on?
hurrikennyandopo ...
Hi Which browser are you using? In the tutorial there is a section of different ways in playing the videos. some will automatically just start and with some other browsers it starts a different way.
The page it comes off is http://accessibilitycentral.net/nvda%20tutorials%20for%20other%20programs.html The subject line that you jump down to by headings is using tubi tv with nvda but has a little on mobile devices with the app. they are more accessible with talk back and have been told voice over and on my samsung tv it works with voice guide. some qwerks but I can live with that.
They are probably more accessible than the web part but if a few people asked them to add short cuts to the player and label some of the buttons etc a lot of visually impaired people will be happy.
On the link given to where the tutorial can be found there i is a section on starting the movie/show with a browser.
hope it helps.

Good afternoon. It seems I could benefit from some handholding to use NVDARemote. Both I and the trainee run the latest versions of NVDA and the add-on. I can’t seem to connect to her. Is nvdaremote.com a valid server? Clearly I’m missing something, probably very elementary, here.

Oh I know. It’s neat. Trouble is, whe nI use it on the computer, I click on things, look for clickable graphics and so forth and it never plays for me. That’s my problem. I can’t make it start playing. I’ve even made sure java and flash and anything else that might pose a problem are activated and ready to go.

Re: my normal mode suddenly changes to text review mode
David Goldfield
Hello. I think that we may need some additional information as there are things you have written that I honestly am not following.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
NVDA does have what is called a screen review mode. However, this affects only how the numeric keypad is used for reading text but this mode does not affect standard arrow key navigation. I am also not aware of an insert-backspace command. Could you please be a bit more specific in what you are experiencing? In other words what exactly happens when you open a document and you try to navigate through it? Please provide the exact steps you are taking, along with specific keystrokes you are using. Are you using the number pad or the standard arrow keys for navigation? What exactly is happening when you try to navigate through a document and what are you expecting NVDA to do that it is not doing? Hi friends
Sometimes, when I read a document in Word or Notepad, I find myself in text review mode. Hence, I can’t edit or navigate with system carret. I cann’t even get back to normal mode by pressing insert+back space. why does it become like that? What is the solution?

Re: sends the contents of the clipboard to the remote machine
Chris Mullins
Hi Rui That is good to know but I think it rases an issue. I appreciate that text should be able to pass both ways within the remote connection but having a Push option on each end blurs the distinction between the controlling and controlled computers. The user of the controlled computer is able to use the push command and compromise the clipboard of the controlling computer, which should not be so. Could the “push clipboard” entry on the Remote Menu be replaced by “Push clipbord to remote” and “Pull clipboard from remote” entries which are greyed out on a machine if it is connected as a controlled computer. When the controlling user uses the Pull command, it could execute the “push” related code on the controlled computer, so would utilise existing routines but functionality would be where it should be, with the Controlling machine.
I am a big fan of the Remote Support feature of NVDA but I don’t find the associated Help text very helpful.
Cheers Chris

Re: sends the contents of the clipboard to the remote machine

Hi In the help guide of the Remote Support add-on it states: “The Push clipboard option in the remote menu allows you to push text from your clipboard. when activated, any text on the clipboard will be pushed to the other machines.” What it doesn’t say is whether this command can be executed on both the controlling and controlled computers in the remote session. When I have been the controlling user in a remote session I have used the Push Clipboard command to enable me to populate a text file previously created on the controlled machine but I have never done it the other way around as Luke describes below.

I have not tried it with graphical content or other formatted type text or data. I have transferred word documents this way, by opening them on the remote, selecting all, copying, sending it to the control, and pasting into another word document on my local machine.
A pain, but it works.
And if there is a MIME encoder (or UU Encoder) on the remote, any file could be losslessly converted to text and moved this way. But that is a lot of effort.
