hi,

Tried sfc with no success. However, will try dism. Additionally, this was an ssd on a mac, so system restore was disabled. Therefore, this is not an option.

windows 10 app esencials announsing what updates you have

brian <sackriderbrian45@...>

Why can't windows app esencials announce what updates you have/? in windows 7 you always knew what updates you had but in windows 10 you don't. It would be nice to know what updates you have if it's a windows defender update or a major build or some cumulitive update.

Issues with NVDA and 1703, inside VM ware fusion

Jessica D <jldail13@...>

Hi,

I’m using vM ware fusion, as a free trial, and I can’t press “insert+ N” for the NVDA menu.
Ive made other key combinations, but none of them work.
Also, on occasion, other keys, like “alt tab” won’t work.

How can I fix this?

I’ve updated my installation media, just in case.

Is telling the computer to boot from installation media accessible?

Thanks,
Jessica

Why bother with the reset.

After the update I went through the settings setting things as they
should be.

Why bother updating if you will reset, why not just get a fresh image
and reformat and fix everything that way if you are set on a reinstall.

A good reformat always fixes everything and makes your system work as it
should.

In fact its the first thing you should do to fix any issue reformat and
the problem will go away.

To the rest as you can see I am being extremely sarcastic.

A reset is almost a reformat and there is no need for resetting with
settings and stuff.

Re: how do I check for updates in thunderbird with nvda

Dejan Ristic

You are supposed to go to the about menu, anyway. Then, press NVDA plus space to switch to the browse mode. You will be able to monitor the update progress by doing so. When the update has finished, you will be asked to restart the client. Have in mind that you must be in the browse mode to monitor the changes. If you Thunderbird is up-to-date, you will know it by arrowing up and down while in the browse mode.

I update the very client in that way. The same goes for Firefox, too.

Re: how do I check for updates in thunderbird with nvda

It is an automatic part of the "About Thunderbird" dialog.   If there is an update available it should be announced and the actual release number read.  If there is not one the about dialog shows, "Thunderbird is up to date," in stippled text, which is why that's not read.  If you are hearing, "You are on the release update channel," without having heard that there's an update available before that then there is no current update available.

Unfortunately I just got my latest update to 52.0 this morning and didn't have NVDA on at the time, but I do know the dialog asks something like, "Do you want to restart to apply the update?" followed by a "Restart Thunderbird" or "Restart Now" button to cause the awaiting update to be applied.

Hello,

In version 11.13 of the Skype UWP app, now there are some keyboard shortcuts for easier use. Which is very nice, by the way. But when we use it in combination with the "Windows 10 App Essentials" add-on, there are keyboard shortcut conflicts. For example, now Skype itself provides keyboard shortcuts to go to recent conversations list, contact list and the list of chat bots. But the add-on also provides similar functionality with the same keyboard shortcuts, which are Alt+1, Alt+2 and Alt+3. The add-on uses Alt+3 to go to the chat edit text field, but I think that it should be changed to for example Alt+4, in order to avoid the conflict. As for Alt+1 and Alt+2, I think those should be removed from the add-on, since they provide similar functionality from Skype itself. Joseph, what do you say?

Thanks much in advance!
