Hi all,

For those transitioning from JAWS and/or Window-Eyes to NVDA, you’ll find that NVDA does not include a dialog to show you list om system tray icons. Fortunately, the feature is just an add-on away:

https://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/systrayList.en.html

I’m delighted to announce the release of SystrayList add-on 2.0. The biggest difference (apart from the fact that there is a new contributor in town) is that the actual system tray list dialog is now center3ed on screen instead of position on the top left corner of the screen.

Enjoy.

Good morning,

As a new Orbit Research LLC team member, I wanted to chime in to provide a
quick update on Orbit Reader 20. I will touch base on the issues of price,
availability, distribution, warranty and carrying cases.

APH has established a $449.00 retail price for the US customers. CNIB¹s
retail price for the Canadian market is 499.00 Canadian dollars. Orbit
Reader 20 comes with a charger, cable and a SD card. Each member of the
Transforming Braille Group Consortium, a funding and product-distributing
partner of the Orbit Research LLC., will establish its own
country-specific retail price for the Orbit Reader 20. Orbit Research is
ramping up the production and the device will be available soon once the
minimum inventory requirement is reached. We are currently in a process of
setting up additional distribution channels throughout the world to ensure
that the world blind community will have access to the Orbit Reader 20.
The device has a one-year comprehensive manufacturer warranty. Additional
warranty could be purchased. I will provide price details a bit later. A
synthetic padded carrying case is available currently and the leather one
is being developed. Below is my contact information, feel free to ping me
if you have questions. I am looking forward to getting your feedback on
the Orbit Reader 20 experience once you use it.

Hi all,

For those transitioning from JAWS and/or Window-Eyes to NVDA, you’ll find that NVDA does not include a dialog to show you list om system tray icons. Fortunately, the feature is just an add-on away:

I’m delighted to announce the release of SystrayList add-on 2.0. The biggest difference (apart from the fact that there is a new contributor in town) is that the actual system tray list dialog is now center3ed on screen instead of position on the top left corner of the screen.

Enjoy.

Hi

Not sure if this will work in word but know it works in excel.  What is written is from Quenton.

below is the message.

There isn't a direct command, but a workaround is:
1. Press SHIFT+SPACEBAR to select the row
2. Press control+c to copy it to the clipboard
3. Press NVDA+c to read the clipboard
This will read the whole row as one block of text.  Note that it will overwrite anything you already had on the clipboard.  It also reads the values of cells, not formulas.  If you want formulas read, press control+` (control+grav) to toggle between showing values and formulas before copying the row.
Similarly, if you want to read the column, press control+spacebar instead of shift+spacebar at step 1.

Enes,

Yes, but I was sticking with NVDA terminology.  Browse versus focus modes.   JAWS uses Browse versus Forms modes.  Focus/Forms mode is where you can do data entry and/or editing in the cell/edit box/other object that accepts text input that you find yourself in.

Clare Page <clare.page@...>

Hi!

For your information, on the French computer keyboard, which I use as I bought my computer in France, the right Alt key is also called “Alt GR”, but I’ve never known it to be an alternative to control+alt. However, it can still be used as a right Alt key when needed, plus it is used for some symbols: for example, to do the “at” symbol I press Alt GR+0, and to do the “hash” symbol I do Alt GR+3.

So it seems that this particular key can have lots of uses, depending on the keyboard layout being used.

Bye for now!

Hello,

Actually, on some keyboards, the right ALT is called "ALT GR" and acts as CONTROL+ALT. So, there are such cases/keyboards, where pressing right ALT will act as CONTROL+ALT. My previous keyboard (an A4Tech one) had this "ALT GR" key in place of the right ALT, so I'm talking from experience.

No, at least not unless someone assigns something custom to what it sends via a keyboard manager.   I have never seen a default state on a keyboard that has two of anything (e.g. Shift, Ctrl, Alt) where the left and right version do not do precisely the same thing unless some "under the hood" tuning is done.  They exist in duplicate to make it easier to use separate hands for 2-key-at-a-time presses that are on opposing sides of the keyboard.  Everyone who's a touch typist is familiar with this concept in regard to Shift, which gets pressed with the hand not being used for the letter being capitalized (and, yes, I know, one can do it otherwise, and sometimes even I do, but that's not how it's taught, and for good reason).
