Re: Deleted file recovery software
Gene
I don't know how well Recuva works for most
people. I have had little success with it though there's no harm in
trying.
However, if the files were on your machine at the
time a restore point was made, if you are using the default settings, the files
will be retained by shadow copy. I won't go into how to find them in this
message because I don't know how long they were on the drive nor do I know if
you have System Restore active. I also don't know if the procedure is the
same as mine since I don't know what version of Windows you are using.

This doesn't work, if you have the desktop shortcut key for NVDA set

as the default. You would need to change or remove it. Try that and report what's happening.

Firstly, are you running this server yourself, and
do you have root access to it?
You say it didn't work, but what happened when you
tried? Do you get packet loss if you try to ping the server? Do you have DNS
properly set up, not just on port 80, http, but throughout the whole server,
and, finally, are you allowing both inbound and outbound traffic through the
firewall, and are you allowing the correct ports to be opened on both sides to
accept the NVDA remote connection? Remember that just because you have a
website, doesn't mean you have all things configured to run the server. It's not
quite that simple as just putting in the domain of your website and immediately
expecting it to work.

Hello, This product remains outdated, and we have seen many promises of updates to come. I would recommend you use the sapi version instead, as it is more updated. Maybe this other one will be updated and prove me wrong.

Google Docs with Nvda
Jorge Gonçalves <joport3@...>
Hi all,
I have to start using Google Docs for some group works in my university. I was reading through the help section for screenreader users specially Nvda. So far it looks great. But I have a problem. It says that if I want to move to the next heading, I should do Control+Alt+N and then H but it doesn't work for me. I do it but it doesn't work. It simply writes an H. Does anyone uses Nvda and google Docs and have some suggestions' Thank you, Jorge

Ah that's handy to know re the doc / docx thing. I think what got my hackles up about this whole dropbox thing is that I just see it as really rude and arrogant when companies make you run around in circles trying to report issues to them. For all its failings and indeed, edge is a good example of such, Microsoft have definitely made big steps in their approachability on both the feedback hub in general on Windows 10, and the disability answer desk particularly.

There will be almost no difference, if any, between the final release and this version. If you want to use it that much, why not use the current version?

Re: Dropbox problem (with fix)
Gene
I read the help information on this subject.
It only comes up for some newer formats. It doesn't come up for doc
files. It only comes up for file formats with an x at the end that are
used in various newer Office programs.
Lots of companies cause accessibility problems that
have known about accessibility for quite some time. The right hand may not
know what the left hand is doing or they may only consider accessibility once
they start getting complaints. Drop Box, to this point, has a much better
record than company after company that has had previously accessible programs
and their programs became completely or largely inaccessible in later
versions. How often have we discussed this problem in relation to
antimalware programs? And what about the Edge browser? How many
years did it take for Chrome to become almost fully accessible?

Subject: Re: [nvda] Dropbox problem (with fix) You're right of course, Gene, but it is still a major bug.
Even many sighted users, after opening a file in Word, will jump right back to
the keyboard ready to type / edit etc and to have to then go back to the mouse
to click in the document (assuming, of course, that you want to use the document
itself rather than interacting with this dropbox badge for some reason) is, at
least, annoying. At the very least you should be able to dismiss it with
say escape or something. I guess I'm quite happy to explain accessibility
to a small company to whom I will give the benefit of the doubt, of ignorance,
but a company like dropbox has been around long enough that they no excuse.
Arlene, it seems to be Microsoft Office files - I'm not sure about doc
rather than docx, but at a guess I'd say probably it would come up for them
too? On Wed, Dec 14, 2016 at 9:51 AM, Arlene <nedster66@...> wrote:

This will be my last offering on this thread and then I hope it will either be deleted in its entirety or have all posts other than my initial one deleted and then promptly locked.
