By the way, I do not understand how NVDA have installed it...

The minimu version is 2019.3...

It was only to attend to a request... So, I was not very worried in make

I was searching by something that allow us to know the wireless network

This other add-on, besides that, gives too many information...

Re: nvda and accessing svg element on web

Jonathan COHN

There have been entire talks at CSUN and other accessibility related conferences on making SVG accessible. I understand that some SVG have events that occur when focus is set on them, and it appears that yours might. My believe is that by default SVG images are focusable, but in any case their focusability can be adjusted with the tab index attribute. So you want to add tabindex="0" to the SVG element or perhaps its parent. Generally, images are not interactive and therefore should not be in the tab order. Also remember that all you do by adding a role of img and aria label is to tell NVDA the name of the element and that it is a graphic. It does not effect its operation, for that you need JavaScript.

Hi Ron,

Probably one of the best resources for a Jaws users coming over to NVDA is the Switching from Jaws to NVDA guide.  It's a text page rather than video, but has a lot of useful information: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda-community/wiki/SwitchingFromJawsToNVDA

NV Access also has training material.  The Basic Training for NVDA is available in human-read audio which might interest you: https://www.nvaccess.org/product/basic-training-for-nvda-downloadable-audio/ (it's also available in electronic text and hardcopy Braille, from the shop if you prefer: https://www.nvaccess.org/shop/)

While we have a YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9Rrmf97-PxqkjbzO6b-VvA it has more general information rather than specifically training material.

Kind regards

Quentin.

By the way, I do not understand how NVDA have installed it...

The minimu version is 2019.3...

It was only to attend to a request... So, I was not very worried in make

Today I have detected an error...

And also took knowledge of another add-on, much more complete, but not

good for what I want...

I was searching by something that allow us to know the wireless network

This other add-on, besides that, gives too many information...

I had a look at this website using Firefox 74and NVDA 2019.3.1. It feels very accessible but I would need to look at specific teaching/learning materials to know if those would be accessible.

Re: Schoolology

Anyone working in academia, particularly colleges/universities, virtually all of which are using web-based course management software, should make a point of telling the powers that be that a "sandbox system" that allows for accessibility training for individual students needs to exist.

How difficult can it be to create a couple of faux classes, with faux assignments, documents, and the like to allow for practice with the system with screen readers?  Yet many are shocked when the idea is suggested.

When I was working with graduate students this was the biggest issue, not the specific course management system (web-based) being used.

The number of scanned PDFs that predate the era when OCR was "automatically done" is huge, and a great many (including some who are the so-called disability services specialists) have no idea about this.  It's not that it's not easy to post-process these to OCR them, but when students encounter ones that have never been done that should be done, promptly, for the documents that are used in the central repository, otherwise it remains something that students have to do themselves over and over and over again when it could have been done by "the powers that be" once, and be there ever after.

Re: Looking for some NVDA you tube audio tutorials.

Quentin Christensen

Quentin.

If the webpage has used svg to display some image, pressing tab in the

It seemed that even adding aria role img and svg label, still cannot
jump onto it by keyboard tab.

I have to report an accessibility issue to a website, but I donot know
how to make this work.

Is not able to tab onto svg element a nvda issue? a general issue of
screen reader? or any trick that can resolve it?

Not sure if this is proper to raise up here.

Add-on Updater 20.03.1 #addonrelease

Hi all,

Add-on Updater 20.03.1 is now available. This release resolves an issue reported by an add-on developer where NVDA will appear to do nothing or play error tones when Add-on Updater asks NVDA to check for compatibility of add-on updates.

Cheers,

I don't have that issue, perhaps it's because I have the chars off when I do that. I have forgotten the keystroke, but nvda 1 should get you in the right direction for the toggle, or you can access the qs found in the help menu of nvda for keyboard help.

When typing a password, the first character reads as star like it is suppose to.
But anything after the first character of a password reads the letter instead os saying star.
How can we fix it so that NVDA will read the entire password being typed in as stars?
That's all I have to report at this time.
