Hi,

I think I recall something like this. Can you manually read thru the
entire file?

I never tried solving this and haven't seen it often.

Gene, just to confirm - just tested it on a site this side - if I have layout tables turned off, it doesn't get announced, but, I could still use ctrl+alt+arrow keys to navigate around in a form of layout table.

All these settings do is determine whether NVDA announces that you are on or entering something.  They have nothing to do with whether the thing is read or can be worked with.  In other words, if you are entering a table, you will hear table if this setting is on.  If you have the announce links setting checked or the announce heading setting checked, you will hear link announced when you read a link or heading announced when you are at a heading.  If these settings are unchecked, the item will still be read and can be worked with exactly as before.  The difference is that you won't hear heading announced or link announced or table announced.  the thing will just be read.

By the way, did you see my email from last night? In case not, I was
pointing out that I had a look at the source code of this web page and it is
clear that they must be using java or some scripting process to call each of
the columns in turn as a web page link  from somewhere else in the web site.

This means that they are painting the columns side by side on the screen but
in the html code the contents are coming in sequentially. That explains why
NVDA cannot make it into a table for love or money!

Cearbhall, might not help much, but, under NVDA preferences, brows3e mode,
toggle layout tables on/off, and see if that at least makes NVDA recognise
this table as a table, etc.

Oh, ok.

That setting tells NVDA not to ignore tables without column/row headers that are generally just used to implement layout, but, are not really data tables as such.

And, sounds like they're using forms of style sheeting to arrange text on the page, as opposed to implementing actual layout structure?

So, by definition what exactly is non simple html anyway? Is it that it can in fact automatically pick up referenced content not actually present in the email. If it is then I'd suggest this is pretty dangerous for many reasons, and hence the warning.

Yep, I did that too, after the post about switching views. I didn't know if simple html would fix it or not, but I really didn't want to go all the way back to plain text just yet, so I tried it, and it appeared to solve the problem, so <shrug> I'm happy with the results, but I appreciate your noting the sequence, as I'm sure that will help others having the same issue later on.

I thought from my limited and old knowledge of this app, that f2 got you into edit and then if you abort esc will come out without entering browse mode and of course also not performing changes to the file loaded either.

I'm not totally sure why the browse mode is used at all in this program as its mainly just fields.

but not on the master snap.

Hi Heaven, I am unable to duplicate this with NVDA 2016.3 and Excel 2016.
Could be specific to 2010, perhaps?

Hi Group

Ever since we upgraded to NVDA 2016.3, we have been experiencing a
strange bug in Ms Excel 2010.

When one makes a mistake in Excel, and presses Escape to exit the cell
(which, with every other version of NVDA simply exited the edit mode an
brought one back to the cell as it previously appeared), one finds that
NVDA automatically decides that one would like to be in browse mode. To
clarify this, if I type a 0 by accident in Excel, and escape that cell
and try to type again NVDA tells me that the specific letter or number
is not available in this type of document. To solve this problem, it is
necessary for me to do one of 2 things:

1. Close Excel and start all over again.

or

2. Press Insert+Space to exit browse mode.

The chanses of my students or I using Browse mode in Excel are very low
and it is not necessary for NVDA to assume that escape means I want to
start using browse mode for some strange reason.

We will be able to go back to NVDA 2016.2.1 in the interim as our
students have limited knowledge about computer and are writing exams
over a fortnight.

Would you please look into this bug as soon as possible as it causes
much frustration.

Kind regards

Re: Reading tabs on web page

Jacob,

Nice try! However, I'm afraid it didn't work. What does that setting do
anywhay?

By the way, did you see my email from last night? In case not, I was
pointing out that I had a look at the source code of this web page and it is
clear that they must be using java or some scripting process to call each of
the columns in turn as a web page link from somewhere else in the web site.

This means that they are painting the columns side by side on the screen but
in the html code the contents are coming in sequentially. That explains why
NVDA cannot make it into a table for love or money!

So, they must be painting nine lines from oen page. Placing a tab control,
then bringing in the next one and so on

Cearbhall, might not help much, but, under NVDA preferences, brows3e mode,
toggle layout tables on/off, and see if that at least makes NVDA recognise
this table as a table, etc.

Here is the offending page if you would like to have a go and see what
you can do.

The tabular area begins with the words:
"Starter

In fact, these three words are three of the column headings that I am

I really hope you can help. I do intend to speak to the developer but,

Hi!

I don't find it's difficult to uninstall readon tv movie radio player. I did it before because I couldn't find way to work with the program.

About finding the stations. After you've fount

the country you continue with tab and you find the list of genres of the proposed stations and with one more tab: the stations alone.

Re: Clarification needed on NVDA support for "aria-live" tag

Jacob Kruger

It works fine for me when I use aria-live="assertive" attribute value in some pages, but, I also include role="alert" to thus substitute that element for a popup alert.

Stay well

Hi

We use NVDA to test our web applications against accessibility requirements and noticed the following issue. I could not find a contact mail address for  technical person, therefore I’m using this mail address.

I would like to  get more information as to whether there is something wrong we are doing from our end.

So here is the problem we notice.

In our application we have dialog popups where a user can enter data in to and if they happen to enter the wrong data, validation errors are thrown back to the user. These error messages are currently not readout by NVDA. Here is our source code. Appreciate your feedback on this.

Thanks,

Outlook.com and NVDA

Hi list,

When using the new Outlook.com I've noticed that, when sending a new email, in the field where I enter the email address that I want to send the message to, NVDA won't announce the list item in the autocomplete dropdown list.

Has anyone experienced this issue when using Outlook.com?

Re: getting the "to protect your privacy" message even before opening a message

Travis Siegel <tsiegel@...>

Yep, I did that too, after the post about switching views. I didn't know if simple html would fix it or not, but I really didn't want to go all the way back to plain text just yet, so I tried it, and it appeared to solve the problem, so <shrug> I'm happy with the results, but I appreciate your noting the sequence, as I'm sure that will help others having the same issue later on.

Hi, Travis,

What I did was go to the view menu with alt V. Then I arrowed up to where it says "message body" and hit enter. Then I arrowed down to "simple HTML and hit enter. That stopped the message from coming up.

Hope this helps.

I don't know if any of you have seen this before in thunderbird but now in some of my messages I'm getting the "to protect your privacy" message before even opening them. I never saw this before. I would get that mesage when opening an email but now I'm getting it before opening a message. Is there a way to change this? Just wondering.

Thanks.
