I should add that what I said is generally true.  But in the case of the layout table setting, I don't know if it changes the way NVDA works when in a layout table or if it just announces when you are entering one and perhaps leaving one.  I have assumed that it only announces that you are entering and perhaps leaving a table and, aside from that, has no effect.  However, my assumption may be wrong.  I started to thing about that after seeing Jacob's message.  Though I doubt I am wrong, I wrote to say that I may be and to get this clarified.

All these settings do is determine whether NVDA announces that you are on or entering something.  They have nothing to do with whether the thing is read or can be worked with.  In other words, if you are entering a table, you will hear table if this setting is on.  If you have the announce links setting checked or the announce heading setting checked, you will hear link announced when you read a link or heading announced when you are at a heading.  If these settings are unchecked, the item will still be read and can be worked with exactly as before.  The difference is that you won't hear heading announced or link announced or table announced.  the thing will just be read.

This means that they are painting the columns side by side on the screen but
in the html code the contents are coming in sequentially. That explains why
NVDA cannot make it into a table for love or money!

Yep, I did that too, after the post about switching views. I didn't know if simple html would fix it or not, but I really didn't want to go all the way back to plain text just yet, so I tried it, and it appeared to solve the problem, so <shrug> I'm happy with the results, but I appreciate your noting the sequence, as I'm sure that will help others having the same issue later on.

I would like some help to read a web page where information is set out
visually in tables by using tabs rather than a table structure. I need
to read it in columns but NVDA does not find a column and just reads
each column entry line by line. Has anyone any experience overcoming this?

We use NVDA to test our web applications against accessibility requirements and noticed the following issue. I could not find a contact mail address for  technical person, therefore I’m using this mail address.

 

I would like to  get more information as to whether there is something wrong we are doing from our end.

 

So here is the problem we notice.

 

In our application we have dialog popups where a user can enter data in to and if they happen to enter the wrong data, validation errors are thrown back to the user. These error messages are currently not readout by NVDA. Here is our source code. Appreciate your feedback on this.
