Okay fine, I accept it as such. I always try to look at the very basics before coming to a conclusion that there's a serious bug. In this situation the maximise state of the window clearly makes no difference.

Heaven, perhaps something very elementary which you already have
looked at, but is the Excel window maximised? This will of course have
no influence on the browse mode being activated, but perhaps on the
double reading of cell content?

I saw the check box but it is disabled, below it there's a message saying that it isn't available for Outlook.com, which is strange because the lite version was able to be used when I used IE8 on my XP virtual machine.

This leaves me with 2 options. Either switch to Thunderbird, or try in any way I could to trick Outlook.com into thinking that I'm using IE8, I.E user agent spoofing in Firefox which worked as there's an add on for that, but it's global, which is not what I want as I want the spoofing to occur on Outlook.com only and not everywhere.

I did sent Microsoft a feedback regarding this, but so far they didn't seem to be doing anything about the accessibility issues with the new Outlook.com.

No it even does this if the screensave is off from what I've found. It might
be a nice thing to see if one imports the exe notepad file from xp to 10 and
run it from another place to see if it still does it. Certainly Wordpad from
XP seems to be better than the 10 native one as I've tried it.For one

Hi

I think it was mentioned that 2016 does not have this problem, however,
Office 2016 has a different approach to charts which we haven't got the time
to figure out at this stage.

Thank you for your assistance, I'll definitely look into it.

Could be specific to 2010, perhaps?

Hi Group

Ever since we upgraded to NVDA 2016.3, we have been experiencing a
strange bug in Ms Excel 2010.

When one makes a mistake in Excel, and presses Escape to exit the cell
(which, with every other version of NVDA simply exited the edit mode an
brought one back to the cell as it previously appeared), one finds that
NVDA automatically decides that one would like to be in browse mode. To
clarify this, if I type a 0 by accident in Excel, and escape that cell
and try to type again NVDA tells me that the specific letter or number
is not available in this type of document. To solve this problem, it is
necessary for me to do one of 2 things:

1. Close Excel and start all over again.

or

2. Press Insert+Space to exit browse mode.

The chanses of my students or I using Browse mode in Excel are very low
and it is not necessary for NVDA to assume that escape means I want to
start using browse mode for some strange reason.

We will be able to go back to NVDA 2016.2.1 in the interim as our
students have limited knowledge about computer and are writing exams
over a fortnight.

Would you please look into this bug as soon as possible as it causes
much frustration.

Kind regards

Re: Lite version of Outlook.com

When I went into the general setting > lite version I can't even tick the check box; as the check box appears to have been disabled.

I don't know why Microsoft would force people on a modern browser to use the full version; Google's Gmail offers a basic version on all browsers, even on modern ones. And abandoning Outlook.com entirely is not an option as I have to maintain my Office365 subscription. But using Thunderbird, however, is a possibility, the only downside is that it doesn't sync the addressbook with Outlook.com and as of yet I still don't know how to do that in Thunderbird.

Hi group!

I've just tried the new version of screamer radio, which is: 0.9. I've
downloaded the portable one. My impression is, it's isn't quite
accessible with screen readers. I tried it with NvdA. Has anyone worked
with this program and can anyone says somethings more about the program
when possible step by step? On the instruction I've read that hotKeys
also are supporrted but probbably the screen readers don't read all from
the menus, so I couldn't find hotKeys. Thanks in advance.

Hi

I had a sus for my self. it looks as though it has been stopped in later versions of internet exploder and mozilla fire fox etc.

I do have a windows 10 machine with internet exploder 11 and the latest version of mozilla fire fox.

Open Outlook online
Click on the settings menu (a flower shaped icon)
Arrow down to Options and press Enter
Tab around the page until you finally get to General
Click on general and press Enter
Tab once to go down the list and arrow until you hear Lite Version
Tick the checkbox Use the Lite version of OUtlook

it also gave me a message that after certain versions it was not supported and also the option was not available in outlook.com

it used to work for me, but not sure if it changed when i went to windows 10 or not.

I know when i did notice it i could not really move in it i had to tab etc so set it up in mozilla thunder bird to get those emails and have done that ever since.

The full version of Outlook.com is slow and not very accessible with either Jaws or NVDA.

No it even does this if the screensave is off from what I've found. It might
be a nice thing to see if one imports the exe notepad file from xp to 10 and
run it from another place to see if it still does it. Certainly Wordpad from
XP seems to be better than the 10 native one as I've tried it.For one
thing, no ribbon menus....

Funny you should mention this, yes, and it seems to have something to do
with either the encoding of the file or notepad itself on windows 10. It is
not doing it all the time though, and hence might be a little tricky to pin
down.
Its not the only program, some email programs seem to be much the same as
if the scrolling is stuck.

Re: Lite version of Outlook.com

Re: Lite version of Outlook.com

Robert Kingett <kingettspeaks@...>

You need to set lite outlook as the default option in your outlook settings but it has been years since so do not know where the check box has moved to.

Re: Can I Route Mouse Pointer to Browse Mode Cursor?

Kenny <kwashingtonlist@...>

What I do while in Browse mode to locate the table containing the cell I want:

1. Press [t] key to navigate quickly to the table you want.

2. Press [Ctrl]+[Alt]+([Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow]) keys to navigate to the row you want.

3. Press [Ctrl]+[Alt]+([Right Arrow] or [Left Arrow]) keys to navigate to the column you want.

NVDA reads everything so it will be quite easy to reach the table cell containing the exact data you want to manipulate.

Subject: [nvda] Can I Route Mouse Pointer to Browse Mode Cursor?

Hello,

I'm a new user of NVDA so I'm in the mist of learning about it. Was using JAWS exclusively for the past 15+ years.

I've always been better at learning  something when getting a program to do something specific to my needs.

Here's the scenario.

I'm able to navigate to a clickable DHTML element on a web page while in Browse Mode. It's contained within a table (Row 1, column 6.) I located this element first by simply using the down arrow key. Confirmed the exact cell location by using the [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Right Arrow] key combination.

Now when I try using the Review cursor to locate the same clickable DHTML element, it doesn't see it at all. It simply says the word "Blank" while over it.

The special route mouse function ([Insert]+[/ on numpad]) only works with the review cursor. Is there a way of having the route function work for the Browse mode cursor too?

Even though I'm able to activate that clickable element from within Browse mode by hitting the [Enter] key, there might come a time that I want the mouse pointer to left or right click it instead.

Some elements like this even bring up a sub menu when you mouse over them too.

Any ideas how to approach my query?

Is it possible to create a route mouse pointer to browse mode cursor add-on for NVDA?

How about having the ability to assign a text label to an element visible in browse mode only, so you can find it easily with the review cursor and perform functions on it?

Hope I'm making sense to someone out there LOL!

Thanks for any suggestions.
