Add-on Updater 20.06 is now available. As an add-on that has gone through one of the most changes as a result of Flake8, along with not breaking update facility for other add-ons, this add-on became the last one to get 20.06. As always, Add-on Updater 20.06 is available through community add-ons website, or ironically enough, through Add-on Updater itself.

 

And with that, I’m taking a break from NVDA add-ons world for a while. The next releases will be done in July.

It is strictly for Reaper and requires a minimum screen resolution of 1920x1080, which would rule it out for me on a laptop.

AI is a marvelous thing, and there will definitely be major advances in the coming years.  But it will be a very long time before it comes close to what wetware (the human brain) can do.  Not to mention that AI, like other humans, will make choices that you, personally, may not prefer,a particularly until it trains itself to you.

It's interesting to see what people envision as far as AI.  I've been saying for a long time that if we could train a screen reader to consider a web page the way most sighted individuals do when they see them, which means instantly ignoring an awful lot of stuff, it would be so much faster to get to the information that's generally being sought.  But even then, what I consider extraneous you may consider essential, or vice versa.  But that's not likely to be the case for things like navigation bars and the collections of links that appear at the bottom (and sometimes top) of a very great many web pages.  If those get used once every hundred visits to most sites, with the exception of newspapers where their sections are generally presented near the top, that's probably an overestimate.

No, NVDA did not prompt me to restart. It did prompt me to shut it down. I heard the shutting down sound, then it just sat there. That’s when I restarted it manually. Hope this helps.

I just wanted to let you know that, at least for me, NVDA did not automatically restart after installing the most recent Windows 10 App Essentials update. I had to restart NVDA manually. In case your computer stops talking for a long time after you have shut NVDA down as instructed, try this. I know this sounds pretty basic, but there may be users out here who get hung up by this.

           I did receive the forwarded copy and have played with it, to the same end result you had.  If this is an organization you deal with frequently, they should be made aware that they are using HTML coding that is both non-standard and not accessible.

           Even if I click in to the text itself, you get nothing with a read all or any motion through the text.  It's as though there's a "cloak of invisibility" placed over it.  This is not in any way characteristic of most HTML formatted messages (which should be as accessible as web pages are).

            It's always good to have several tricks in your back pocket, as Gene has suggested, for dealing with this when you need to.  But, the people that should be dealing with the issue are those generating the message to begin with.  It probably takes more effort to create and inaccessible HTML message than a correctly formatted one.  This is the first I've ever dealt with that has the total "cloak of invisibility" quality.  Very weird.

I also hear it, sending message, connecting to smtp server, etc. And I don't have a slow machine either.
This is with 68. Not sure if it is nvda related. The rest of the stuff doesn't speak though, and I have the status line hidden to my knowledge.
