Finding in MS Word

kelby carlson

The NVDA find command doesn't seem to work in MS word. When I press it
it treats me as having pressed ctrl-f, which is the regular Word find
and which doesn't work as well. How do you find text in a Word
document?

Re: Temporarily disabling AVG protection Correction

Gene is quite right The first keypress should be NVDA+Numpad / however the second keypress should not be Numpad / but Numpad * to invoke the Context menu. Apologies for the incorrect post.

The corrected steps are:

  1. Press Windows+b to move to the system tray.

2Press enter on the Notifications chevron button.

3 Use arrow keys to scroll the overflow notifications list until you locate the AVG anti-virus button.

4 Press NVDA+numpad / to move mouse focus to the AVG button

5 Press Numpad * to activate the AVG context menu (Note: i can’t get the Applications key to invoke the AVG context menu, hence the 2 step process)

6. ‘Temporarily disable AVG protection’ appears in the Context menu list.

When you activate the disable option, a dialog appears with various warnings about removeing protection and instructions about re-enabling it.  You can also set a timer to automatically re-enable protection after a certain time has elapsed.

I have been having some issues with portable versions of the latest nvda today. On a couple of xp machines the good old file that scans things in MSSE has become hyper active during me trying to run and extract the new version over old ones and used up all the processor time making it just hang with 80 percent of power in msse. I have with some patience managed to get task manager going first and stopping the process makes nvda get extracted I have to point out here that at no time does msse complain about nvda, it just seems to be hogging processor time when, presumably scanning the files as they get extracted into the folder.
Most odd.
I will look tomorrow to see if older versions of nvda cause it, Isuspect that the recent update of msse has done this.

This depends on how the browser renders the table content. In this
case, Firefox is doing a better job at it than Chrome. What you can
try is to go into Browse Mode settings dialog and check 'Include
layout tables' option and see what happens.
