I can confirm this also. Windows 7 and office 2010
here are some tips to work with the find functionality of word 2010:

- hit ctrl + f to go to the search field
- enter the term you wish to search for, and hit enter
- use f6 (several times, maybe 3) to get back to the document, where the
first result is focused
- to go to next / previous search result: hit f6, the focus will jump to
the navigation toolbar, from there click previous / next search result
- again, use f6, several times, as needed, to get back to the document
where the search result is focused

I don't know the shortcuts for previous / next search result, sorry!
hope that helps!

Maybe its a version thing. I just loaded up a really old version of word, ie 2002, and switching to browse mode found the find command worked fine on doc files.

Hi

I just tried it in microsoft word 2010 and if I done the following while in focus mode with the nvda search feature, it would bring up a search box but when i typed in what I wanted then tabed to search it would not go any where.

But now if you do the same to do a search with nvda but this time in browse mode you could type in a search then it would find it no worries.

That was using the nvda find command.

I can not remember if before I could do it in focus mode?

By the way it was with a docx file.

Do you know how to cut and paste?  Once you find the song, even in search results, you can cut with control x, then paste it where you want it with control v.

Re: microsoft ofice outlook and nvda

Kerry Fielding <littlemisslovely1973@...>

Hi.  The problem you have is not with NVDA itself but with the columns that you have displayed in your outlook view.  What you need to do is remove the columns you don’t wish to have spoken from your view in outlook.  You don’t’ specify which version you are running so I’ll give you the instructions for outlook 2016 and hope that will help.  Also just to note that if you do have another screenreader you might want to change your view using it.  I have just tried to go through the steps using NVDA so that I can write them down for you and when I get to the last step, it does not read out any of the colum headings so I have had to revert back to JAWS so that I can read these headings.

1.        From within the folder you wish to change in outlook press alt and V and this should take you to the views menu.

2.       Press down arrow and you should hear “Current View.

3.       Press tab to hear settings button press enter.

4.       You are now on the columns button.  Press enter.

5.       Press tab until you hear show the columns in this order.

6.       Press down arrow until you hear the column you want to remove.

7.       shift and tab once to get to the remove button and press enter

8.       8.  If you wish to remove more columns, press tab to get back to the available columns list and repeat steps 5 - 7 until you have all columns you don't want to hear spoken removed.

9.       Tab to ok and press enter.

10.   tab to ok and press enter.  You will now be back in your outlook message folder.

Hi, Gene,

You can't change the last 0 to a 1. I tried different ways to do it but it can't be done.

The file doesn't need to be put on send space.  When sending shared links from drop box, change the 0 to a 1 before sending the link.  In other words, the link, at present ends in ?dl=0.  Change the 0 to a 1.  Also, anyone working with the current link can change the 0 to a 1 after pasting the link into a browser, then following it.

Hi, Kenny,

I'm having trouble downloading the file. Could you put it on sendspace for me?

Thanks.

It can be done.  You can't do it when reading the message.  That is a read only field.  coppy the link to the clipboard.  Paste it into the browser's address bar or in the case of Internet Explorer, the open dialog if you would rather paste it there.
Remove the 0 and type a 1.

Hi

When you press the enter key on the link it will take you up to the dropbox account. You might have to change modes from focus mode to browse mode. Go down the page you will hear the file name and there is a download button to get it. I think it was near the sign up link or under it.

Then it is a matter of saving it to your pc. It then play correctly for me in winamp etc.

Re: text to mp3 with an nvda voice addon?

Life My Way

I use virtual recorder to make mp3s like you want to do using any of the voices i have in nvda, it works great.

correct! sapi 4 and sapi 5.
but there is not such a thing like an addon to do this, as far as I know.

balabolka recognizes all sapi voices including free and commercial if
i am correct!

Thanks everyone for your answers, I appreciate them, but my question
also is, if someone is using the acapella or Vocalizer NVDA add-ons,
this would not be recognized by Balabolka? So you'd have to purchase
voices twice if you wanted to use your preferred voice for mp3?

hi,

yes, balabolka is a great option.

it will recognize all sapi 5 voices you have instaled, including
microsoft sapi voices.

and to let you know, in latest versions it also records in m4a, m4b
forma as well.

To choose the format of your preferences, press shift + f5 and the audio
file options wil pop up!

hi.
download balabolka, install sapi5 version of espeak and use it for
free.
but it records as wave format and you should convert it in to .mp3.
its very fast, free and multi languages!
you can open all kind of formats with it without any problem,
for example: even if you dont install adobe reader and microsoft
office, you can open pdf and word document with it.

Hi
I know there are programs that convert text to mp3, but they find and
choose the voice independently, so you must have the Sappi voice. Is
there instead some sort of way that I could use a program or a method
that could use the voices I have which are nvda addons and somehow use
my nvda reading settings to convert a text that I am reading into mp3
to use on an Ipod? Basically, these programs then sort of force you to
purchase a voice you like twice if you want to convert, once for NVDA,
and then another time for the converting program and your sappi stuff,
so I'm hoping there's a better solution?
