It happens to me, too, when I use JAWS, but not with NVDA. I assume
your friend is using the Braille Edge with JAWS. If so do a soft
reset (it's the button on the left side in the back of the unit) and
then restart Jaws.
Hope this helps.

Seems like some changes in the latest NVDA build are causing sluggish hangs after a few hours of use on build 15031. I have had to force a sign out to reset the system. Mail and Edge are both open when the hang scenario occurs. It has occurred three times so far.

I also note some Edge issues on secure sites that were actually working better before this update.

What browser and screen-reader are you using?  Try whatever you like, a different screen-reader, a different browser, or both.  Rarely, I have a page that doesn't display properly and changing what is being used solves the problem.  Or just use the read to end command and don't down arrow through the message.  I'm not sure if reading will be as smooth as desired, but it may be reasonably adequate.

Hello All:

Has anyone here sought about asking LibreOffice if they would be able to come up with a screen reader that would exclusively support their office suite?

Re: changing how nvda reads numbers

Gene

I already tried the demo awhile ago so I can't test the behavior.  However, I will try the experiment in JAWS and see what it does, although that is testing what may be a different version of Eloquence with a different screen-reader and thus is not at all definitive, but interesting..

In JAWS, at least the older version I tested with, the context affects how the item is read.  If I use read to end and a sentence is being read, it reads correctly as 1000 dollars,  If I use control right arrow and read word by word, it is incorrectly read as dollars 1000.  What I don't know is whether JAWS itself is presenting the information differently to Eloquence or if Eloquence itself is using some sort of context analysis for the different results.

What synthesizer are you using?  This may vary from one to another.  As far as how to change the order, I would think this could be done with the speech dictionary but I also think this requires use of regular expressions, something which you may be able to get help with but most people don't know how to work with them.
