hi joseph.
thanks so much for your great news!
i believe for both of remaining nvda remote as addon and integrating
remote to the nvda core.
some people like me, maybe dont and cant update there nvda, so they
need one addon for remote needs.

Re: a question about the new edge browser

To be honest I am happy they didn't role all of it out today.

I have been spending most of the morning updating 2 laptops and 2 desktop units.

In these I had codecs, java, flash, windows update and store updates as well as office and some gps updates.

In addition some of these units like my laptop and one of the desktops had spaciffic driver updates and its taken me 4 hours so its good its tomorrow.

NVDA and express vpn

How well does NVDA work with the Express VPN app on windows 10? Is the app accessible?

Accessible password managers, again.

John Isige

Hi everybody. I'm back for accessible password manager recommendations again, because let's just say I was pretty unimpressed with Last pass, to put it mildly. It was difficult to access the setup, and when I went to a site simply to put in my username and password, let alone have it generate anything, the site kept logging me in and immediately logging me out. I know this was a Last Pass issue because removing Last Pass let me login to the site just fine again.

This was with the Firefox plugin, everything up to date. I need something that will:

1. Be easy to set up.

2. Have actual keyboard shortcuts.

3. Doesn't break logins.

4. Is accessible on the web, in case I need to look my password(s) up on a machine that doesn't have the manager.

In theory, Last Pass does all of this, but it obviously didn't work for me. I'm not interested in tinkering with things, if it's not going to work the first time to save a simple username and password and log me in, I'm not particularly interested in screwing around with it to try and get it to work. I do have a Firefox account, and I'm pretty sure it can save login info, anybody know if it also does randomly generated secure passwords? Basically if anybody's got recommendations, I'd love to hear them.

Re: State of the NvDA Remote add-on: NV Access sent patches to add-on authors

I am not sure.

There were at one point I think last year or maybe the year before people saying that someone used nvda remote to hack their computer moving round on a forum, but it could have been people fooling about.

I am unsure if this is still the case but right now saving passwords saves them clearly in text files and I am not sure if you can generate a random key or not, maybe you can.

I havn't fiddled with remote for ages now.

I think actually that you can.

Point is there is no encription on the remote and that could make the addon not secure in sertain situations.

Saying that, to use remote you actually need nvda running on a system but still.

That is probably the only argument.

There was a thing on size of nvda itself, not everything can be core because of size.

Re: NVDA 2019.3 beta 2 now available

Hi,

As part of NVDA’s UIA support, a set of bad UIA class names is kept to inform NVDA that windows with class names in that list should not be treated as UIA elements, thus forcing NVDA to switch to MSAA/IAccessible support. Even though UIA is used in Edge 79 Chromium-based), it is not that solid yet, so NVDA 2019.3 will force IAccessible2 mode, which works better (this is done by adding Chromium UIA widget window class name to the aforementioned set of bad UIA class names).

Cheers,

Joseph

I'm extremely confused. If the new Edge uses Chromium by default, how can NVDA work with Edge at all if that option has been removed from the NVDA settings? Darn you, Microsoft! Why couldn't you at least help JAWS, NVDA, etc. Build in UIA? This seems like a huge blunder on Microsoft's part, no? They have more man power, so either, help screen readers work with UIA, or disable it in the new Edge by default.

Re: Dropbox interfering with NVDA when reading Word files

Hmmm I think you can change in dropbox settings online or is it in the client forget where though I was there yesterday.

Anyway you can tell dropbox to not take over viewing stuff in its viewer.

Elementary Question I'm afraid: How do I access the toolbars on screen with NVDA?

Clive Lever

Hi all,

The subject line says it all. I apologise that this is probably an elementary question. I’m asking because I’ve only recently started using NVDA as my main Screenreader, and Jaws as secondary (only when I have to). Until recently I prioritised them the other way round.

Thanks,
