Canvas with NVDA
Ibrahim Abedrabbo
Hello folks, I am currently teaching online. However, I am having some accessibility issues with Canvas. I access the canvas pages using Microsoft edge. I have two questions: First, is Microsoft edge a good choice to access canvas? Do you recommend another better browser to accomplish this? My second question to Students, What kind of accessibility problems you have with Canvas using NVDA? My biggest problem is in finding edit boxes in discussion threads. Your feedback will be truly appreciated.

Hi Marco Oros

I'm Cuong from Vietnam, and I'll share info about UniKey program. First, the correct spelling for Vietnamese typing Program is UniKey, not Unikey. FYI, the program is quite accessible, and it usually set to start automatically when Windows start. Almost its settings just do once, then blind, or sighted people just turn on there computer and type Vietnamese as anytime. This require NVDA users to turn off the Handle keys from other applications option in keyboard settings. Cuong

Are Unikey and Sogou accessible?
Hello.
I have questions to two different languages, Chinese and Vietnamese. So, are the Unikey (for Vietnamese) and Sogou Pinyin (for Chinese) accessible for the blind and how they works? Thank You. Marco Oros

Re: Issue with pronunciation dictionary
Gene
How should it be pronounced? Don't worry
about placing a mark in the pronounced as name. Write the name as you want
it pronounced/ Is it pronounced be lanna or be lana or in some other
way? Write pronounced as fields in any way that gives the correct
pronounciation. At times, I put a space in a pronounced as
rendering.

dictionary First of all, I should point out I haven't updated to 2019.3 yet because I've not checked in here in a while and don't know for sure if updating from 2019.2.1 breaks anything I don't want broken/will yell at me for having incompatible addons installed. I'm terrible at checking my emails and I'm sorry. But I'm having an issue changing a pronunciation and it's bugging me. I'm a Star Trek: Voyager fan, and one character, B'Elanna Torres, has her name spelled as shown here. Except on some websites the apostrophe is turned into a "Right Single Quote". I had fixed the pronunciation for her name years ago, but when I discovered this phenomenon today, I tried to fix it. The literal only difference is the punctuation. I tried making its own entry and adding the same replacement to it. That didn't work. I tried making it case-sensitive. That also did not work. I tested to make sure the dictionary itself wasn't acting up, and another test entry worked just fine. I even tried replacing the single quote with a normal apostrophe and it didn't work. What am I doing wrong?

I fixed it. It was weird, though. I had to delete and remake the initial entry, as well as the one giving me grief. but it's fixed now. Sorry for causing any inconvenience.

It works here. What entries are you using?

Easiest way to get these is to go into the dictionary dialog, find them, then copy them by hitting NVDA+numpad5 three times. Or if you're on laptop, nvda+shift+o 3 times. Once I have the list entries, that shows all the values in the dialog I need to replicate them here to see where you're going wrong. Please do that for both of them.

Still trying to work out what is wrong here and am getting
frustrated. I can't read Voyager fanfics if her name isn't
pronounced right!

I am reawakening an old thread. I have a customer who has updated to NVDA 2020 and needs a copy of the latest vocaliser add-on. Does anyone know where it can be downloaded from? The dropbox link provided a few months ago is no longer valid. The vocaliser website hasn't been updated either. Very best wishes, Mo. I also tried the 3.1.1 version of the driver, and it also worked for me.
When do you think the new Vocalizer Expressive 2.2 would be released?

Re: Office 365 with NVDA
David Goldfield
For me, the additional Onedrive space is very attractive as my wife and I use it to access files on our respective devices. I may be wrong about this but you may not always receive accessibility fixes with the 2016 release. As an example, in Outlook are you able to edit an existing email signature using a screen reader?

That’s fine. If some new features come along that I feel I must have, I’ll upgrade. For all the things I do, I do not need the latest and the greatest.

You are correct but what you won't receive are new features, which are not usually added to perpetual licenses of Office such as Office 2016. David Goldfield, Blindness Assistive Technology Specialist JAWS Certified, 2019 WWW.DavidGoldfield.org On 5/13/2020 11:33 AM, Monte Single wrote:
