Re: deleting file from downloads folder closes the downloads folder window
Chris
The only time I known this to happen is when you remove a external drive memory card or flash drive but for an empty folder to do this is odd to say the least

Odd, do you ever use file explorer for other things (press Windows+e) and have you noticed any other issues? Also which version of Windows are you running? I'm using Rhett latest fast insider bold of Windows 10. I haven't specifically looked lately, but I know I've had various Windows, mostly settings Windows, which either don't respond or close unexpectedly in various builds. I wonder if this is something similar? Regards Quentin

Hi all, Today when using the calculator app in Windows 10 I noticed that NVDA doesn't read the keys I pressed (backspace, clear, etc) and the changes make to the output display, for example if I delete a number NVDA won't announce the change, even with the latest version of Windows 10 Essentials add on installed. If I'm correct, I started noticing this bug since I upgraded to 2016.3 RC1. Is this a bug with NVDA? Or the Windows 10 Essentials add on...

Re: Reading command prompt

Hi, my theory is that it has to do with the keyboard hook. Technically, it seems that characters printed to the console are seen by the keyboard hook as key input, and then treated as such. To whoever wrote that hook: could this be true? I mean, could console output erroneously make your hook trigger?Pranav Lal <pranav.lal@...> schrieb am So., 4. Sep. 2016 um 04:13 Uhr:

fake clip
Marisane Moruthanyana
Morning guys
I hope you are well.
I am trying.
I recently heard of you talking about am addon called something like ‘fake clip’.
I visited the nvda addon page and I don’t remember seeing it.
However, I visited Jeff’s repository and found it.
The problem is that it comes as a zip file / folder with a few files within it.
One can’t easily identify which file to install.
Would you please help me with the process of installing the addon?
Your help is appreciated in advance.
With respect Marisane

All right, I was able to find the dialogue referred to. However none

Cearbhall O'Meadhra
Kelby I find it hard to remember exactly what I did to fix the problem. However, I did reinstall Office 2016 and after that the problem went away. Not a very satisfactory explanation I’m afraid. However, would you consider running a repair on Office? Failing that, deleting and completely reinstalling might help.
Before you do that, can you confirm that: 1. You can create a new Word or excel file from within either program? 2. That you can open files listed in the “Recents” tab of the file menu? 3. That the “File / Open” dialog cannot focus on the directory where your existing files are located from within either program?
If these conditions are true, then you have the same problem that I had and I would recommend a reinstall of MS Office.
All the best,
Cearbhall

The problem with turning of character echo is that when I work on the commandline, I like to hear the characters I type so we still need a real fix for this problem. Pranav

I'll have more of a look into this. In the meantime, you can set up a configuration profile just for there command prompt which has speak topped characters and words turned off so you can have those settings turned on in other programs without needing to keep changing it yourself. The Basic Training for NVDA had a section on this (chapter 13, Configuring NVDA). Regards Quentin

Hi, Thanks for the suggestion, though I've always have character echo on while using other apps without any issue, the issue occurred exclusively in the command prompt and not in any other apps like Word.

Reading command prompt
Hi all, When I tried the new NVDA 2016.3RC2, I noticed that NVDA still spell out the output of the command prompt, for example when I launch it it would spell out the current directory in full; this issue occurred on Windows 10 and is quite annoying when using the command prompt. Is this a bug in NVDA? If so will this gets fix?

Re: deleting file from downloads folder closes the downloads folder window
Dan Beaver
Well, I have found that if I open the downloads folder and then using the ribbons click on the delete or delete permanently buttons it works as expected and does not close the folder.
I have not found any other odd behaviors.
I am running windows 10 anniversary with all the more recent updates.
Thanks.

two sounds keep going off intermittently
marvin kotler
Good afternoon list; Marv here. I got a new
computer; acer desktop running windows ten and nvda 16.2. I have a minor
issue; I hope. This is the home edition. I put in two sounds; one
for open program and another for close program. A Microsoft disability
specialist worked on this thing for approximately two hours without
resolution. These are the only sounds that are effected by this
intermittent problem. If anyone has any ideas on what I could try, I would
like to hear them. Thanks in advance.
