Did you set default programs for windows 10? Windows 10 seems like you have to do this from it's own default program settings. I had to do this with winamp.

Hi It sounds like it isn't nvda incorectly reading but rather
the rules for each language. I am not sure if espeak has separate
rule files for each language. Pete

Yes I would like NVDA to support reading text boxes in MS Word too! That would be another great feature for NVDA.

Yes I needed to do this recently as i was sent some diet sheets for helping me with ahelth condition with things in text boxes. I lost the will to live trying to read them so the person who sent them removed the boxes nand reformated the text into paragraphs instead.

I was reading the initial few parts of this series of tutorials that AFB has produced. The free creation and availability of these reminds me of what an NVDACon International speaker had said - high quality video training material are equally important as audio and text, and that is what this new resource offers. Thanks.

Re: Accessing text boxes in Microsoft Word
Hi Quentin,
Many thanks for this workaround. The text boxes are not inline so I will utilize your second approach. I have no control over the people who use them. I have given them feedback but I do not hold out much hope for change.

Hi Pranav,
Firstly, the ideal solution here (even using Jaws to be honest), is to convince people not to use text boxes.
NVDA doesn't currently have a direct keystroke, it's something we could look into. For now, though, there are still a couple of ways of reading text boxes currently:
If the text boxes are positioned "in line with text", they can be found within the text of the document. Currently they are identified as "slash" though that's something we're working on.
Once you are in a text box (or picture or other object) you can press TAB to move between them. You can add a text box into a document by pressing alt+n, x, enter then press escape once (so you are out of the text itself but the text box is still selected), then you can press TAB to move between the objects in the document (this wraps so if you press TAB on the last object in the document it will jump back to the first object). Be sure to either delete the text box you added or not save changes to this document!
You can also use the accessibility checker, which is handy for finding things but I'll warn you it's not the most direct route: In Word 2016 you can get to this from the "tell me what you want to do" edit box by pressing alt+q and typing "check", but from 2013 (or from 2016) you can press alt+f (file menu), then i (info tab), then i (inspect document) then down arrow to check accessibility. This opens the check accessibility task pane but unfortunately puts the focus back in your document so you need to press F6. This shows any accessibility issues, so if you down arrow through the details it will say "Warning" then "objects not inline", then "text box 2" (not sure why, they all seem to be called text box 2?). Press enter on that text box and press SHIFT+F6 to jump back to your document with the text box selected (this works the same as the previous method of adding a new text box but without changing your document. It is more cumbersome though, I'll not deny that!).
Kind regards
Quentin.

nvda with firefox, thunderbird and windows explorer
Pete <emac00@...>
Hi
When I have firefox, thunderbird and windows explorer opened in windows 7 pro 64 bit and nvda latest running insert t will give me the incorect title when pressed in windows explorer. Insert t will report the title as one of the firefox window s that is opened. Closing windows explorer and reopening it will not fix the problem. Neither will going to view and refresh. I tryed reloding plugins in the nvda tools menu and lost the ability to read thunderbird messages, or atleast the one I was writing to the list befor this one. Insert stil reports the title incorectly in windows explorer. I had firefox and thunderbird opened since last night. I do not have any adobe products installed nor do I have any of the java software installed. I only have important updates selected in windows update, and dot net is the same as what came with windows 7 pro 64 bit. I didn't try restarting nvda but wil try it now. OK, restarting nvda via insert q and selecting restart restarted nvda and insert t is reporting the correct title in windows explorer now. Reloading the plugins didn't fix this isue. Should it have? Thanks! Pete

Alexander Masic
Hi.
I have noticed a problem wich i gues is NVDA-related. Because when I'M visit. www.sj.se vich is Swedish railway-company. In that calender i can not toggle betwean month when i made a booking using NVDA anf Firefox. But if i use NVDA and IE, Jaws and firefox it i can se the buton next and previus. but not NVDA and firefox. for some reason i cant se those butons. There is even an english version wich you can change to in the top of the site. So i would be glad if some developer can have a look at this. Alexander

Are you sure this isn't just an IE error on that page?
Under advanced settings, under tools menu, internet options, you can tell IE not to render/display script error warnings, and, this relates to javascript errors in the page itself.

Re: NVDA not reading table in MSWord
Cearbhall O'Meadhra
Quentin,
What a magnificent reply! I will keep this nearby for future reference. I look forward to the full document when it comes out.
Strangely, something has changed! I now find that I can read the offending table. I spent about four hours yesterday struggling with various ways of reading the document and getting a full analysis of how the table was created.
As I reported last night, I found that I was able to read word documents without any trouble by the end of the evening. Prompted by your request this morning, I went to the original file attachment, saved it again, unblocked it and tried the table in both browse and focus modes. I was surprised to find that now the reading command works fine (control+alt+arrow keys).
The start-up screen is just as you describe, so I will try to remove that as you instruct.
I apologise for raising an issue that has just evaporated! However, I welcome the advice which you have given today.
All the best,
Cearbhall
