Hay I know this list is about nvda butt I was wondering if any one can tell me ware to get a clock called vox clock 3. I know this sounds very odd butt I was at a friends house and he had this vox clock 3. If you do a google search on this you will hear the alarms and the voice and you will know what I mean. I use to have this clock when I was a kid butt it broke. It is a 1980s clock from radio shack.

I don't - I just press NVDA + F9 to start selection, and NVDA + F10 handles the copy to clipboard between the two points.

And, this is with latest, 2016.2.1.

Subject: [nvda] Issue with Copying to clipboard

Hello all,

I haven't followed the list for some time, so I don't know whether this
has been discussed previously.

For a few days now, I find that I can't copy text to clipboard via the
NVDA+f9-NVDA+f10 commands.
Actually, I find it difficult also to select text using the normal
Windows Shift+Down Arrow command. The only thing that seems to work is
selecting by character.

I'm running Windowss10, with the latest NVDA Next snapshot, but this has
been going on for a week at least.

I first noticed it after installing the development version of Instant
Translate to test, but I don't think this has anything to do with the issue.
Just to make sure, I uninstalled the add-on, but the problem didn't go
away.

Has anyone experienced the same problem? How have you solved it, if you
have at all?
Ciao, thanks in advance.

I think selecting and copying text in windows 10 is an issue in itself. Its
one of the things that seems to often not work, or be very delayed compared
to other versions of windows.
I do not know if this only happens when nvda is in use, as I'd supposed it
was the old sluggishness of uia issues on some machines.
Flakey if doing a lot seems to be the issue. It not so bad on 7 and fine
on xp here.

I think we need a sighted person to do some tests with andwithout nvda just
using the normal windows keys not the mouse.

I don't know if it can be installed and used. I wouldn't fool around in that way without definitely knowing first. However, such experimentation may not be necessary. I have no way of using Windows Defender, as far as I know since I don't use Windows 10. But my impression is that you can see the setting you want to work with if you use object navigation or screen review. Try moving to it, then activating it with numpad insert numpad enter. Now see if you can move around the category you wish. I gave the command for the desktop layout. I don't know the laptop layout command.

Yes defender in windows 10 seems to work this way. One issue I have is that the icon of protected msse usually puts in the tray seems to be missing in defender in windows 10, as it seems does there are updates for you as well as last night I shut down my Windows 10 machine and it took nearly 30 minutes to shut down. Nothing to say it had updates, but as both 7 and my hacked xp had 15 of them I suspect this was what was going on. Nvda needs some add on to allow it to see anti virus status and updates waiting status, as its probably some graphic we are unaware of. But as I say the actual bits of Defender when you do manage to actually find out how to open it is like msse.

My guess is that for some reason one of the fields is not being filled

I think selecting and copying text in windows 10 is an issue in itself. Its one of the things that seems to often not work, or be very delayed compared to other versions of windows.
I do not know if this only happens when nvda is in use, as I'd supposed it was the old sluggishness of uia issues on some machines.
Flakey if doing a lot seems to be the issue. It not so bad on 7 and fine on xp here.

I think we need a sighted person to do some tests with andwithout nvda just using the normal windows keys not the mouse.

Hello all,

I haven't followed the list for some time, so I don't know whether this has been discussed previously.

For a few days now, I find that I can't copy text to clipboard via the NVDA+f9-NVDA+f10 commands.
Actually, I find it difficult also to select text using the normal Windows Shift+Down Arrow command. The only thing that seems to work is selecting by character.

I'm running Windowss10, with the latest NVDA Next snapshot, but this has been going on for a week at least.

I first noticed it after installing the development version of Instant Translate to test, but I don't think this has anything to do with the issue.
Just to make sure, I uninstalled the add-on, but the problem didn't go away.

Has anyone experienced the same problem? How have you solved it, if you have at all?
Ciao, thanks in advance.
Ollie

Re: Issue with Copying to clipboard

Thanks Jacob,

The problem was really that I only pressed f10 once, as usual, but now it's f10 twice to copy selection...

Odd indeed!

What review mode are you working with?

Ask since, while don't think it should cause an issue, I am in sort of default object review mode, but, think, at least the f9/f10 commands should work fine in screen review mode as well, but, for the standard shift selection, make sure you are in object review mode, just in case.

Re: NVDA and Win10 Defender

I don't know if it can be installed and used.  I wouldn't fool around in that way without definitely knowing first.  However, such experimentation may not be necessary.  I have no way of using Windows Defender, as far as I know since I don't use Windows 10.  But my impression is that you can see the setting you want to work with if you use object navigation or screen review.  Try moving to it, then activating it with numpad insert numpad enter.  Now see if you can move around the category you wish.  I gave the command for the desktop layout.  I don't know the laptop layout command.

Can MSE be used with Win10?

You now have to press the F10 twice in order to copy text to the clipboard. I don't know why they have done this.

Ollie

Re: NVDA and Win10 Defender

Hi,

Yes with MSE and Windows 7 I could do what you are describing.  Now that I migrated to Win10 which includes Windows Defender, things are different. I can tab through the scanning options but I cannot get to the setting tab.  The only way I know it is there is by entering NVDA key and the letter B.

Can MSE be used with Win10?

Thanks for your help.

You will get, if you continue to tab to a structure that says things like settings.  You move through that structure with the left and right arrow keys.  When you get to something you want to work with, you stop there ant tab around to see what you can do.

Or is it one of the settings under this section?

Admin's Note: Thread suspended, call for participants to cup o' tea if they wish

Nimer Jaber

Hello there,

I appreciate the spiritedness at which debates occur on this list, and I love the free exchange of ideas. This group contains many members. However, when a thread degenerates into personal attacks and is clearly off-topic for the scope of this list, I feel as an admin that I must act to return a bit of order to the list. At the same time, I don't want to act too hastily, so I wish to provide a vehicle for anybody that wishes to be heard before deciding on this issue.

The issue: There are some members discussing events that have occured on a skype group. As I understand it, this is separate from this list, and messages about the Skype group could be considered off-topic. In addition, there were messages sent with personal attaks against one or more individuals, and this most certainly violate list rules.

Proposed Solution: A few off-topic messages are not bad, and sometimes can further the purpose of the list. Many off-topic messages, and some that degenerate into personal attacks, is not good for this list. I propose to sit down for a cup o' tea with anybody involved that wishes to be heard about this issue, and to give this thread its chance to die for now.

Please, if you feel like you wish to be heard, write to the moderator address, and I will be happy to discuss this with you. If one or more members write, I will add all to one group, and we will engage in a dialog over a friendly, warm cup o' tea.

Thank you all.

Re: Issue with Copying to clipboard

Both forms of selection work fine for me?

What review mode are you working with?

Ask since, while don't think it should cause an issue, I am in sort of default object review mode, but, think, at least the f9/f10 commands should work fine in screen review mode as well, but, for the standard shift selection, make sure you are in object review mode, just in case.

Stay well
