Firstly, that's no way to behave.

Secondly, To be honest, I'm not entirely clear on your original message either.  The subject line says something about Joseph Lee, and the name of the file you linked to says something about comparing the iPhone to computers?

If you've written something which you think would be of interest to the NVDA community, maybe state what it's about a little more in the message, and either link to a regular web page with the full text or if it can survive plain text, just include it in the body of the message.

Many people are wary of opening doc files from the web because of the potential for macro viruses etc.

A forum and a email list came up.
From what I saw yesterday, an email list and forum can be moderated and not everyone has admin power.
Yesterday it demonstrated how unready we as a community or at least some of us are ready for that power.
Because of this to those in the groups effected I am not coming back.
You didn't give joseph lee a chance to defend himself and I do the same now.
You have driven me away from what I thought would be a good group, and have shown me skype groups are not the best medium for descussion at all especially if they can not be moderated or secured.
There are a lot more things I want to say but I have said my bit.
I also know by putting this I am probably making enemies here may even be cutting my path out of the groups involved, but I have no choice really.
I know we as a community are better than this.

I am particularly interested in the detail of navigating tables. As you say, column divisions are not echoed  so:

1.      How do you know when you are in one column or another?

2.      Is there any way of knowing which column your active point is in?

3.      What keystrokes are involved apart from those which you have already described?

Hi all,

In terms of table navigation and editing:

1.       I can read tables in slide show mode.

2.       When in object navigation mode, reading of a table or editing a table is difficult because column seperators are not spoken. This used to happen even with Jaws version 16 I think.

3.       I am on PowerPoint 2016 and  whatever has been discussed so far is applicable to that version.

4.       The tab and shift+tab are standard keystrokes. The same applies to f6 and shift+f6.

You can also press ctrl+F6 or ctrl+shift+F6 to move forth and back between pannels. And S and D (or was it A and S) also work to go to the previous and next slide in the slideshow.

Hi,
When I run Windows Defender, the scanning options are accessible using the
tab key. However I cannot get the voice to read the settings option to
click on It to make changes.

Well, when I do it I use my currently registered card which comes up with
the last four digits of the choice and I simply agree to use it create a new
association or exit.

My guess is that for some reason one of the fields is not being filled in
correctly, and since its probably hidden by the time you get to see the
screen, its hard to figure it out. Normally certificate mismatches or
scripts that the anti virus does not like have error messages one can hear
so know where to start to look for the issue. To me nothing has change in
recent months apart from some combo boxes being easier to use and
predictable.
Its very hard from this end to diagnose what might be going on here.
I am also sure that the local area where you are has a telephone number,
most do, I rang through and got a very nice Irish lady a year or so back
when it kept rejecting my card details, and it turned out to be a fault in
their system and was fixed almost immediately.

or get to the page where it just says send money now. I did send a
message similar to this to PayPal and will see what they may have to say
about it. Something has obviously changed on their page setup and nvda
isn't catching it for me.

Why not come out and say what you mean instead of making generalizations. Why not talk privately about your concerns to people who can do something about it. Why would you blather on in this list about something that will never change. Further, your feedback means nothing to me because I've seen how you are and you gripe about everything, so, constructive feedback you do not provide. You are a negative person and I have seen this before in you.


Joseph lee was removed because he used the group to promote his own means, and not that of NVDA. I have personally had a problem with everything he has done since he has entered the group. It is an accumulation of things and not just the sapi4 thing. Which, to me, I see that as a blatant lie. I cannot abide lies and misinformation in a group that is supposed to give correct information and help those in need. Now, this could have been an honest mistake, but again, I don't see it as such. Me and another admin contacted Mr. Lee privately and he refused to discuss these issues with us.


Without going further into things, because I feel all of us have the right to our privacy, and I will not breach that for any reason, let's just say I think the group is better off without him. He has a serious lack of communication skills and has hurt the group with this, and his self-centered attitude. I feel NVDA is about community and Mr. Lee is about individuality.


I am appreciative of his good works in code contributions to NVDA and will remain so. I will never say he does not write good code. I do feel, however, that he lacks the skills to manage people and run a group or community.


So, in summation, I felt his attitude to be a blight on the support group, and I removed said blight. The majority of people have expressed either gratitude or their ascent to the group as a whole since his removal. This will be the last time I will mention this matter, and I am genuinely sorry if this message causes any distress among any of you. I do not enjoy starting drama or any of the nonsense that goes along with it.
