Hi, everyone,

I've been trying to burn a CD for a friend with windows 10 but I'm
finding
it very complicated. What is a good free CD-burning program that will
work
well with NVDA?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Sorry, no on both for now. nvda is my only screen reader. This is a strange one. A year or so back they changed their page so much that it took me a while to figure it out. However, it still seems to be the same as it has always been. Everything works until the very last continue button which would have sent the money but it just sits there.

Don't know what's going on, but I can't use Pay Pal with nvda. It
appears to be just the same as it ever was, but after I do everything
and then the very last step of continue, nothing happens at all.
There are no error messages or anything. Can anyone tell me what they
may have changed? One thing I've been noticing is that nvda will
always say "invalid entry required" when I come to an edit field
there. Maybe they have really changed things so that I really need to
enter something invalid instead of my valid password.

Thanks.

I just donated 30 aus and OK the invalid input did come up as typing into the boxes, but I suspect this is an artifact that until you finish it is indeed wrong.
As usual had several goes at remembering the caps and lower case in the password, and it eventually accepted it and sent me through when I clicked the button or link for doing the donation.
My feeling here is that this is a browser issue if you cannot get it to work, always try another browser. I did mention that the IE current updat is a bit broken as far as some accessibility is concerned, but its very very spcific it seems as most of the time its fine.

If I hit CTRL plus N for a new message or CTRL plus R to reply to a message
in the Windows 10 Mail app, NVDA says "Message edit read only" and then
nothing, whether I arrow back to correct something or just keep typing.
Review mode does not work either.

In a new message, it does not speak as I type the Subject, but if I go back
to correct a word it does speak the subject.

Is there a trick to getting it to speak text as I type?

I have NVDA set to speak words, not characters. I think I am up to date with

Basically LibreOffice has been more frequently updated and has a slightly

has a few more side bar options.

In terms of accessibility I'm not sure which is ahead though being updated
more often, if you encounter a problem, it might be easier to get it

Note that there is also Open365, an online office suite based on
LibreOffice: https://open365.io/

Essentially it looks similar to LibreOffice but runs in a browser. As you
can probably guess..... steer clear of that one ;) I tried it a month or so

Make sure you do a complete shutdown and a clean restart. Its like on some machines when you used to use hibernate and it failed to start then sometimes as well.

At present it has Jarte on it, but I may see if one of my older versions of Word will work on the machine. Word XP works on windows 7, but not on 10 which is mainly apparently due to the screen res.

Since we do not actually need a screen this seems to me to be bonkers.

Re: free CD-burning program that will work well with NVDA

Brian's Mail list account BY <bglists@...>

Well the old CD burner xp still seems to work OK in 10, and is very easy to use.

I'm sure there are many more. A word of warning if the installer uses opencandy, sometimes this does not work with nvda making it hard to get past the ;suggested' software. Instead run it from a command prompt such as
filename.exe nocandy
and it will bypass this

Hi, everyone,

I've been trying to burn a CD for a friend with windows 10 but I'm finding
it very complicated. What is a good free CD-burning program that will work
well with NVDA?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Re: OpenOffice or LibreOffice

hi.
they both have the property that you can report your bugs and issues.
for example: you can report your bug about using libreoffice in this
site after registration.
www.bugs.libreoffice.org
i prefer libreoffice for many reasons, like:
support for different languages in its menu,
(i mean its user interface)
support all formats of microsoft office and many programs,
more features in comparission to openoffice, and the most important,
its group which are very friendly, kind, honest and intimate.

Do they have a bug tracker you can post issues in so they can get that
fixed? That was the same issue I was having with libreoffice. But I couldant
find anywhere on the website to post issues.

Hello,

I have tried Libre office both with NVDA and jaws. In both cases it's
got a nasty habit at least on my machines of loosing focus, a lot,
like coming out of menus, saving documents, it's quite frustrating.
I've since uninstalled it.

Thanks.
Dave.

Hi, Dean,

I tried libre office but didn't really care for it too much. I think open

I read the article but does that mean Libera Office will be more
accessible?

I tried it earlier this year and found I could not use the spreadsheet at
all with another screen reader. so I went back to Open Office.

I looked into this last year. How to Geek has a good comparison
article:
http://www.howtogeek.com/187663/openoffice-vs.-libreoffice-whats-the-difference-and-which-should-you-use/

Basically LibreOffice has been more frequently updated and has a slightly
more "classic" (Say Microsoft Office pre the ribbon) look and Open Office
has a few more side bar options.

In terms of accessibility I'm not sure which is ahead though being
updated
more often, if you encounter a problem, it might be easier to get it
addressed in LIbreOffice.

Note that there is also Open365, an online office suite based on
LibreOffice: https://open365.io/

Essentially it looks similar to LibreOffice but runs in a browser. As
you
can probably guess..... steer clear of that one ;) I tried it a month or
so
ago and while I could get around the system tray component, the actual
say
word processor was unusable. Even aside from accessibility issues (which
were enough to nix it on their own - it was sooo slow! I couldn't put up
with it on that basis alone
either. I'm on ADSL 2 and while I wouldn't boast it to be the best
connection in the world, it's not THAT bad that it should have made that
much difference.

Kind regards

Quentin.

Hi,

I know that it was asked before, but versions are updated regularly

So, any info will be apreciated... note that I can install LO and OO
simultanously, so if you can say what is the best for what option...

Thanks,

Me too but beware! Latest versions of CDex come loaded with malware and other garbage you don't want on your machine at all!

I really liked CDex, but it will no longer work in Win 10. It refuses to recognize I have a disc in the drive when I try to rip tracks. Windows ejects the disc and keeps asking for one.  It always worked great in Win 7 so I need another program like that that will work in Win 10.\

Sorry it took so long to respond.

I use a program called mp3 cd doctor.

It is accessible with nvda and allows you to take mp3 files and burn them to cd in an audio format.

It works great.

Also, t rip audio cd’s to mp3, I use something called cdex – which I believe stands for cd extraction.

It is free also and works great.

Somnetimes, I just use media player and set it to auto extract and eject the cd once I put it in.

Thanks

If I hit CTRL plus N for a new message or CTRL plus R to reply to a message in the Windows 10 Mail app, NVDA says “Message edit read only” and then nothing, whether I arrow back to correct something or just keep typing. Review mode does not work either.

In a new message, it does not speak as I type the Subject, but if I go back to correct a word it does speak the subject.

Is there a trick to getting it to speak text as I type?

I have NVDA set to speak words, not characters. I think I am up to date with NVDA at version 2016.2.1 and the Mail app at version 17. Brian
