Hi, Brian,

I didn't think of that. Thanks for the tip. In the past when I had trouble with a program, I'd either restart or do a shutdown. I didn't think of holding the shift key down while the computer is shutting down. Thanks again for this tip.

Rosemarie,

As a general rule, if you've restarted programs and that hasn't fixed a problem, the next step is always a full shutdown and restart to see if that resolves the problem. If you happen to be using Windows 8 or Windows 10 a restart alone will work, or if you elect to use shutdown then hold the shift key while the machine is shutting down if you have fast startup enabled.

One of the oldest, and first, techniques of the tech geek is restarting the computer in a way that ensures a full reload of the operating system from scratch.

You switch back the same way you switched.
First, try this.
1. control NVDA s.
2. Wait a few seconds.
3. Press e.
4. Press enter.

That will try to select the first thing that starts with e.

If that didn't work, press CTRL+NVDA+r 3 times quickly. This will reset
your configuration to factory defaults.

Hi,

I would suggest that you restart your computer and also reinstall NVDA. Sometimes it just seems that things get kind of hosed up and reinstalling most often will straighten them up.

Hello all.

The other day i installed the demo of the vocalizer voices with nvda.
Well, now today i tried to switch to that synth from espak ng and i was left with no speech.
My demo apparently ran out, however, i am having trouble now getting e-speak back.
I tried and nothing happens.
I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling nvda to no availe.
The setup file won't even talk now.
So i do not know what to do.
I do not want to reinstall windows just for this.
Thank you

Re: getting all the messages from other lists to come to the inbox

Rosemarie,

This question is somewhat unanswerable, as we'd need to know:

  1. Where they're going now, if not to your inbox.
  2. If you are using multiple devices, or multiple e-mail clients to access your messages.
  3. Whether you are using POP or IMAP or, perhaps, POP in one client and IMAP in the other.

There are a number of variables involved regarding where something might land.

The all mail folder is messages from real folders aggregated in an artificial folder. I'm doubtful that the number of messages is the problem but its easy enough to check. Open some messages in a real folder and see if you have any of the same problems.

I do not see any problems like that either. Maybe it could be opening in a new tab or it might be the page layout I guess you really would have to see what it is doing.

I am using thunderbird with windows 10 and it is going good for me no problems here.

A while ago I did put together a page that may help you with thunderbird. it can be found at http://www.accessibilitycentral.net/accessible%20email%20client%20mozilla%20thunderbird.html

They are pretty much the settings I use here as well as a few others.

Now and again I have either helped sus out what is happening using the remote support add on if they have it on there machine or over the phone, but this is more in my own country.
That way at times you can hear what is going on.

Google drive sign in

Brian's Mail list account BY <bglists@...>

Ok I give up. I have successfully installed and signed in two copies of google drive on xp machines but my attempt to do the same on windows 7 oor 10 has met with failure. Each time after pressing next I get a windo called wx which invites me to sign in. However there seem to be no buttons or fields on this window, just the title and an invitation to sign in ven with various navigation modes invoked.

Is this nnvda or Google drive. if the same version of nvda works fine in xp, why not in the later operating systems. If you go on line and sign in to google their frame for docs etc works fine so what is wrong in Drive?
I'd really like tis to work, but at the moment it seems to only work on XP since I cannot log into it on 7 and 10.

Seems Microsoft cannot leave anything that works alone. This change was alerted to me by a sighted person who himself is struggling with the new layout, so thought I'd mention it here. It seems to have come with a change to pop3 though as my current log in stuff for my old hotmail account also do not work. I'm not that bothered as I hardly use it, but I do wish these companies would not reinvent the wheel so often. what ever happened to if its not broken don't fix it?

Very strange. I'm replying to you using Thunderbird and all my keystrokes are speaking as I type. Do you have speak typed characters turned on? That's about the only thing I can think of. Try nvda key plus number row 2 and check that this is turned on. Hope this fixes it but that's all I can think of. It's working fine here.
