I'm not sure what the procedure is using the laptop
keyboard layout for opening the NVDA menu. Someone on list should know the

Re: Adobe Flash Player with NVDA
Gene
Also, I just tested the second link you
provided. That is,
I am testing on a rather slow, rather old
computer. But it may be of value to note that the stream took longer to
play than most streams do and so, if that is the case on a faster modern
computer, I would suggest waiting longer to see what happens. Perhaps
thirty or forty seconds. It appears to me that you don't need to do
anything on either of the sites you provided to get audio to play. try
waiting as a test for about forty seconds on each of these links. You may
have some sort of problem but I suspect some links take longer to play than you
may expect because of the amount of information necessary to finish buffering or
perhaps a good many redirections are occurring.
If you don't see any error message on screen, those
may be why you have to wait longer than expected..

Subject: Re: [nvda] Adobe Flash Player with NVDA To: nvda@nvda.groups.io Date: Wednesday, May 25, 2016, 6:47 AM Jolene, I am very interested in your topic as I am currently writing a tutorial for users of the BorrowBox digital library service in which Adobe Flash comes in to playing a preview of an audio book. I can forward my recent discussion on this and the solution to it if that would be of interest? There is a good deal of discussion between NVDA technical team members on getting NVDA to work with the embedded objects in Adobe Flash. These are known as windowless objects and JAWS, for instance cannot see them at all in FireFox but can see them but has difficulty keeping focus on them in Internet Explorer. NVDA gets around this by labelling the embedded oject as unavailable and using the NVDA+numpad divide (to move the mouse pointer to the current navigator object) followed by numpad divide on its own which emulates a left mouse clikc. I wonder if you could try this solution and see if it gives you access to the player? I have tried your two links with NVDA and Firefox on windows 10 (all latest versions) and found the following: KITV: http://www.kitv.com/category/305776/live-stream This stream started playing and sounding in the speakers as soon as I opened the link in Firefox. KHON2: http://khon2.com/live-stream/ This link did not start and a typical part of the screen showed this: " SEARCH THE SITE Live Stream" Then NVDA said: iFrame 'embedded Object unavailable' and then 'Out of iFrame' after I pressed down-arrow once. The stream did not start playing automatically like the first one. However, I pressed NVDA+numpad divide and then numpad divide alone and it did start to play. Another numpad divide stopped it. While NVDA is reporting the embedded object, the screen is reporting "blank" under the active cursor. With these work-around techniques , both streams are working on what appears to be a similar system configuration to yours. What do you think? Re: NVDA and Itunes 12.4.0.119

I'm not sure if that's true. I've seen
references to third party utilities that allow you to transfer material without
using ITunes. I don't know what their limitations may be but some people
may know about them and about their accessibility. Also, canyou cause
ITunes not to upgrade automatically? If so, it would probably be a good
idea to wait when a new update comes out to see what people have to say about
it.

I don't know where you live but a program like
tapin Radio has a large data base of stations from all over the world. It
also allows you to record stations directly as they play, which means you don't
have to tie up a sound card or use another recording program outside of tapin

Re: making a suggestion for nvda

If this is going to be done, probably the best way
would be to have an apply button or something similar. In other words, for
example, after you made changes in the voice settings dialog, you could press
apply and be returned to the preferences menu again. You would be returned
to the menu you entered a dialog from. Then you could open another dialog
and change more settings. This would be slightly easier than opening the
NVDA menu again but I'm not sure if it would actually make the interface more
confusing for inexperienced users. It may just be easier to tell people to
make changes in one dialog, press ok, then open the menu again with NVDA key
n. We'll see what others have to say.

Well, it'd be nice to somehow put things in like a list, sort of like programs like thunderbird, or at least so one does not have to exit settings just to have to go back into settings with nvda n to change more settings. Yes, i know you could probably change things with keyboard shortcuts, however, I do not know all the shortcuts to do this yet for all the possible things you could set. So i'm just thinking it might be easier for new people, and me alike.lol or people like me who might get confused easily when first encountering a new program. Calling all BrailleNote users: A NVDA try build snapshot providing basic support for BrailleNote QT and Apex BT scroll wheel now available for testing
Hi everyone,
For those who are new to the mailing list: I’m Joseph, one of the code contributors to NonVisual Desktop Access screen reader project. I’m here to announce the immediate availability of a try build to support BrailleNote QT and Apex BT scroll wheel in braille terminal mode.
Since 2011, NVDA provides support for BrailleNote family of products as a braille display. Originally a community add-on, it joined the ranks of braille display drivers that ships with NVDA in 2013. Currently the braille keyboard commands are supported.
The purpose of building the try build is to let you see what I’ve been working on for the past few days in regards to enhancing NVDA’s support for BrailleNote family of products when used as a braille display. Specifically, the try build now accepts commands from BrailleNote QT when used in basic mode (not PC keyboard emulation) and supports Apex BT’s scroll wheel. Normally, I would not release this code very early, but I’m hoping that, by letting you try what I’ve been working on, I hope to receive feedback and real life data from many of you in hopes of making my code better and to provide a solid foundation to provide enhancements in the future. The other reason is for this offer to be a catalyst for companies such as HIMS and others to engage with customers in regards to their products being supported by NVDA.
Key assignments added in this try build:
Apex BT scroll wheel: · Up: up arrow. · Down: down arrow. · Left: left arrow. · Right: right arrow. · Center: enter key. · Scroll clockwise: tab. · Scroll counterclockwise: shift+tab.
BrailleNote QT (including Apex model): · Read+T: Control+Home. · Read+B: Control+End. · Arrow keys: arrow keys. · Read+N: NVDA menu. · Tab: tab. · Shift+Tab: shift+tab. · Function+left arrow: Home. · Function+right arrow: End. · Function+up arrow: page up. · Function+down arrow: page down. · Read+1: toggle input help mode. · Read+W: Windows key. · Read+M: Alt key.
Important notes: · The try build is based on latest master snapshot. · Please try using the try build as a portable copy. · On QT, some keys may result in NVDA giving you errors. · This does not support PC keyboard emulation mode.
Now, without further ado, the try build download link:
If you have any comments (feedback, questions, suggestions and what not). Please email me directly at joseph.lee22590@.... If you are on Twitter, you can send your comments to @joslee, and for those on Facebook, my ID is josephsl. Also, I’d like to propose having either a Skype or TeamTalk chat about this feature in June.
Thanks, and I look forward to reading your comments. Good luck. Cheers, Joseph

Re: how to set nvda auto read
Chris Mullins
Instead of pressing Control followed by the say all keypress, you can use the shift key to stop and restart speech. It acts like a pause/play button once say all has started.
Cheers Chris

Having pressed NVDA+down arrow (or laptop: NVDA+a) to read from the current point onwards, you can press control, to stop NVDA from speaking. You need to press NVDA+down arrow or NVDA+a to restart from the start of the current line / element to keep reading.
If you press shift to pause speech (note that works with some synthesizers, such as eSpeak, but not all synthesizers), you can press shift to restart reading, although if you have used the arrow keys to navigate around the document in the meantime, you will need to press NVDA+down arrow or NVDA+a to restart reading from where you currently are.

I'm sure it can be done. Now there is a program fro Windows called iDevice Manager. I don't know how well it works with JAWS or NVDA or WINEyes. I'm sure Aple is on it as far as iTunes. As my wife likes to say quit your bitchen! Sheesh.
