Hi rosemary and others,

Though, significantly you may still try  and test master snapshots the pre-development of nvda for the 2016.2 but I would suggest to have it install it to your testing machine or portable device such as like USB flash drive. Again, but be warned that this is 'bleeding edge' code. There will very possibly be nasty bugs and broken code.Below are the link:

Looking for some volunteer testers to test NVDA's support for BrailleNote QT and Apex BT scroll wheel

Hi all,

For those who don’t know: I am one of those responsible for bringing BrailleNote support to NVDA. As part of the latest work, I’m looking for volunteers using either a BrailleNote QT or an Apex BT to test NVDA’s support for both models. Specifically, I’m looking for people who are thinking about using BrailleNote QT with NVDA and Apex BT users to test QT command support and scroll wheel support, respectively.

Once I talk to some volunteers, I’ll be sending out a third-party NVDA snapshot containing the following:

·         Support for using BrailleNote QT native commands in terminal mode (at least basic mode, not PC keyboard emulation) when using it as a braille display under NVDA.

·         Using scroll wheel in terminal mode with NVDA.

Once tests shows it is working as advertised, I’ll send my code in so it can be included in NVDA 2016.3 at the earliest. Thanks.

Cheers,

Joseph

Guys, give them a break for Christ sake! They said they were working on it, did they not?

If you don't believe them, then, ok, fine, whatever, but you don't have to publicly rub it in their faces! That's incredibly disrespectful!

Hi, do you have IE on your laptop computer? Is your flash player up to date? That may be your problem. I'm using windows 7. Have you updated adobbyplayer? I'll try it with my 7 box. If it doesn't work for me. it may be because I'm in Canada. Some t.v channels in America don’t work for me because I'm in Canada.

latest build for Itunes

Arlene

Hi list. Sorry the latest build for Itunes is broken for windows. However, it may not be for everybody!  Yes Itunes is doable for windows. If you want to use it go for it.  If you find its buggy then write to apple and state what’s wrong. They will try to fix your problems.  For those who feel they can’t manage using Itunes. Then just uninstall it!  if you like using it on your windows computer all the world to you.

Re: how to set nvda auto read

Quentin Christensen

Having pressed NVDA+down arrow (or laptop: NVDA+a) to read from the current point onwards, you can press control, to stop NVDA from speaking.  You need to press NVDA+down arrow or NVDA+a to restart from the start of the current line / element to keep reading.

If you press shift to pause speech (note that works with some synthesizers, such as eSpeak, but not all synthesizers), you can press shift to restart reading, although if you have used the arrow keys to navigate around the document in the meantime, you will need to press NVDA+down arrow or NVDA+a to restart reading from where you currently are.

Kind regards

Quentin.

Re: making a suggestion for nvda

Hi Scott,

The official place for filing requests and bugs is our little corner of GitHub: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues

Ideally also search to see if the issue has already been filed.

If you'd like some feedback on the idea first then absolutely raise it here and we can have a conversation about it and get it filed.

I can and do file issues myself, although the advantage in you filing it is that if more information is needed or clarification on something, it's easy to ask.

Kind regards

Quentin.

Bad draft below.

Customizing your Desktop

If you have been so used to having a my Pc icon, recycle bin, control panel
ectra some of the shortcuts can be replaced
Back on the desktop and have noticed it is not there and wanted it back on
the desktop, this can easily be done.
Press the Windows key + the letter I. This will bring up the Windows
settings section in Windows. You will be given some options. Locate the
Personalization icon then press the enter key. Arrow to you hear NVDA say
Themes then press the enter key. Next tab until you hear NVDA say Desktop
icon settings then press the enter key. You will now be given some options.
For example computer, User's Files, Network, Recycle Bin, Control Panel. If
there are shortcuts you want back on the desktop from this section, press
the space bar on the ones you want. This will check the check box, so they
can be added. After you have made your selection, tab to the apply button,
then press the enter key, tab again until you hear NVDA say ok button, then
press the enter key. Now these shortcuts/icons will now be on your desktop.
