Re: Clarification needed on NVDA support for "aria-live" tag

It works fine for me when I use aria-live="assertive" attribute value in some pages, but, I also include role="alert" to thus substitute that element for a popup alert.

In our application we have dialog popups where a user can enter data in to and if they happen to enter the wrong data, validation errors are thrown back to the user. These error messages are currently not readout by NVDA. Here is our source code. Appreciate your feedback on this.

Outlook.com and NVDA

Hi list,

When using the new Outlook.com I've noticed that, when sending a new email, in the field where I enter the email address that I want to send the message to, NVDA won't announce the list item in the autocomplete dropdown list.

Has anyone experienced this issue when using Outlook.com?

Yep, I did that too, after the post about switching views. I didn't know if simple html would fix it or not, but I really didn't want to go all the way back to plain text just yet, so I tried it, and it appeared to solve the problem, so <shrug> I'm happy with the results, but I appreciate your noting the sequence, as I'm sure that will help others having the same issue later on.

Problems with [nvda] Outlook 2016

Ralph Boersema

Dear Folks,

Before this conversation dies down, let me put my problem again. I have used Outlook 2007 for a number of years and was satisfied with how NVDA worked with it. Now I have Office 2016 for Business. My outlook opens the inbox in a view that NVDA announces as “Table View.” It is simply the list of emails that I am familiar with as the list of messages in the folder. When I navigate this list the sender, Subject, Date and Time are announced in the normal way, but not other fields (whether the message is unread or flagged or has an attachment). Visually, the closed envelope, flag, and paper clip are all present in their respective columns. Does anyone have the same experience or did anyone find out how to solve it?

Warm regards,

Ralph

Re: Reading tabs on web page

Cearbhall O'Meadhra

Travis,

Are you using the right alt/gr and arrow keys to navigate a cell at
a time? That is the only way to do it as far as I know. You can hop very
quickly across the columns that way. Alt-gr and up or down arrow will keep
you in the column you want.

All the best,

Cearbhall

Speaking of reading tables on web pages. How does one navigate down the
columns of the tables. I currently have to navigate a cell at a time, and
sometimes, I don't want to do that. I'm sure there's a way to do this, and
although I read the whole manual, it was a *large* manual, and I've not read

this, and it irritates me that I don't know how to do this. :)

strange bug in Ms Excel 2010.

When one makes a mistake in Excel, and presses Escape to exit the cell

brought one back to the cell as it previously appeared), one finds that
NVDA automatically decides that one would like to be in browse mode. To
clarify this, if I type a 0 by accident in Excel, and escape that cell
and try to type again NVDA tells me that the specific letter or number
is not available in this type of document. To solve this problem, it is
necessary for me to do one of 2 things:

1. Close Excel and start all over again.

or

2. Press Insert+Space to exit browse mode.

The chanses of my students or I using Browse mode in Excel are very low
and it is not necessary for NVDA to assume that escape means I want to
start using browse mode for some strange reason.

We will be able to go back to NVDA 2016.2.1 in the interim as our
students have limited knowledge about computer and are writing exams
over a fortnight.

Would you please look into this bug as soon as possible as it causes
much frustration.

Yes and it seems virtual recorder works better on some streams than it does on others and is probably dependent on the hardware your machine uses as well.

The issue of now playing would need some kind of live region to be set up for every site so you would get an update automatically though.

Tapin allows you to record but, though you will find a lot of stations using the program, you would have to determine if the selection is what you want.

The site
www.tunein.com
has a lot of stations but you would have to use a separate recording program to record.

Th e problem is that every station seems to do things their own way and hence making a common interface for them all is probably inpracticle. Believe me its not just the visually impaired who find this lack of standardisation a pain, as before long you get a load of links and addresses and players and then one has to figure out what playys what and how much detail it can show and how.

Its kind of streaming data anarchy out there!

Subject: [nvda] Another software for radio broadcasting and recording also Tapin radio

Hello NVDA.

I don't know, where to post It.

But, I have a pleasure. Do You know some software, very great for the blind to listen radio stations and record It.

Also, It'll be great to know a names of songs. Or, some web service, which also view a name of songs for some streams.

Really, I don't know, where to post this topic.

Thank You for help.
