I am having a problem downloading NVDA 2016.3 version on windows 10 64 bit.

when I download through NVDA it downloads but does not install.
when I try to run the setup file manually nothing happens, at all, not even an UAC message or something.

when I try to update via Ninite it says the update is not supported.

when I try to install NVDA with ninite after uninstalling it, Ninite gives me an access is denied error.

Idid have AVG but uninstalled it. I realized the other day there are still backround processes running even though I uninstalled it with Revo uninstaller making sure to delete all the leftover files, then going in to regedit and deleting the entire AVG category... but it still will not install. Older versions work just fine. It is just 2016.3 that will not work.

I am currently using 2016.1. I have AVG uninstalled, as well as AVAST.

Well seeing as it was oK before the anniversary update, one supposes that Microsoft inadvertantly altered something.

It's a bug with NVDA and the anniversary update.
Possible workarounds to not hearing typed characters is to type them
first, then use review cursor (e.g. Numpad 5 for current word, Numpad
1 and 3 to move to previous and next character, etc.). You can also
use notepadanother desktop program like Notepad, then paste it into
the edit field

To find the add on, go to the add on manager, and tab to the button that
says 'get add ons'. Press enter and Edge or whatever browser you're using
will open. Look for the Windows 10 App Essential add on and download the
stable version. Also if you're like me and had problem where NVDA won't read

typed characters, try uninstalling and re-installing NVDA. I remember I came

across that when I upgraded direct from Windows 7 to 10.

Hi all,

I am still experiencing the issue where when I am replying or composing a
message, outlook 2016 will hang at random intervals. The only solution is to
reboot my computer.
I have raised the issue at https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/5835

I have also tried outlook in safe mode but I still had the problem.
Os=windows 10 64bit
Windows version = Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.545)

Does it install from the official download OK?
I gather you are using that site that bundles stuff together, if its any consolation i never did get that to work reliably for anything. I'm going to put on the win 10 machine and try updating a portable version of an older copy and will let you know what happens.

Dear citizens of the NVDA land:

Yes, it is official: one of the ministers of NVDA land, a certain Mr. Teh, has just ordered the horsemen to announce a good news throughout the land:

NVDA 2016.3 is officially out:

http://www.nvaccess.org/post/announcing-nvda-2016-3-release/

So what’s new, changed and fixed:

From RC2: no changes.

Highlights:

·        You can now disable individual add-ons.

·        NVDA is more cofmpatible with Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version 1607). Among the things included are return of browse mode in Edge, announcing newer UAC prompts, ability to navigate PDF documents in Edge and more.

·        NVDA+F9/NVDA+F10 command behavior change is now official.

·        Color announcement has been simplified.

·        NVDA no longer announces “associated draft” in Outlook 2016.

·        NVDA can now announce line spacing in Microsoft Word.

·        Various enhancements.

A sneak preview at 2016.4: three game-changing features will be served as part of Thanksgiving Party this November:

·        Ever wanted to hear line indentation via beeps? You can do that starting in November.

·        Want to experience the next chapter in assistive technology history? Or would you like to be one of the first ones to experience a combination of a free screen reader and a low-cost braille display? Stay tuned, as this combination will change your life in November.

·        Needed an assistant in persuading web or app developers about accessibility needs of screen reader users? The wait is almost over: let NVDA volunteer for you from November onwards.

The rest: let’s just say the ministers at NVDA land are holding council every day, looking over this land and thinking about the needs of citizens and planning the next great adventure for the people of this land.

Personally, I’m excited to see what NVDA can do in opening opportunities for many people, particularly for those who’re using Windows 10. On behalf of people who’ve contributed to NVDA 2016.3 development, I wish you best in your endeavor as you use NVDA 2016.3 in various places (work, school, for fun and in unexpected places). Also, NVDA 2016.3 release announcement will be my final NVDA release announcement (on this list), as I believe the community is ready to welcome new reporters.

Thanks.

Cheers,

Joseph

Hi again,

Right, so after getting my new laptop, upgraded to Windows 10 and then performed a clean reinstallation of Windows and installed NVDA and everything, along with Vocalizer and the Windows 10 App Essential add on, the calculator seems to work for a while but then after a reboot, which took longer because Windows was installing some updates I think, the calculator no longer work properly again, NVDA refuse to announce the keys that I've pressed.

If you go back does it then work for you. I'd be interested in the synth in use, if its, for example the dodgy free Eloquence this effect is to be expected as that was a very old and dodgy add on.
However if its espeak and everything else this is far more serious.
I've just updated several machines both installed and portable with no issues, though in one case I had to do a manual restart when it went nto sulk mode, but that rebooted fine.
Maybe we need more detail.

hi.
download balabolka, install sapi5 version of espeak and use it for free.
but it records as wave format and you should convert it in to .mp3.
its very fast, free and multi languages!
you can open all kind of formats with it without any problem,
for example: even if you dont install adobe reader and microsoft
office, you can open pdf and word document with it.

Hi
I know there are programs that convert text to mp3, but they find and
choose the voice independently, so you must have the Sappi voice. Is
there instead some sort of way that I could use a program or a method
that could use the voices I have which are nvda addons and somehow use
my nvda reading settings to convert a text that I am reading into mp3
to use on an Ipod? Basically, these programs then sort of force you to
purchase a voice you like twice if you want to convert, once for NVDA,
and then another time for the converting program and your sappi stuff,
so I'm hoping there's a better solution?

Re: text to mp3 with an nvda voice addon?

Life My Way

virtual recorder can do this but you would have to edit out the stuff you don't want meanning the other stuff you hear from your screen reader before you would place it on your I device

Maybe some program that lets you record what you hear and save it as mp3. I know Goldwave will do this but it isn't free but is very low priced for its power but I'm sure there are other programs that will do this and some should be free.

Thanks everyone for your answers, I appreciate them, but my question
also is, if someone is using the acapella or Vocalizer NVDA add-ons,
this would not be recognized by Balabolka? So you'd have to purchase
voices twice if you wanted to use your preferred voice for mp3?
