Hello William,
I'm definitely not an NVDA proficient user, but your last sentence made me think.
Are you using a laptop, by any chance?
If so, you should set your keyboard layout to "Laptop"
(NVDA Menu - Keyboard settings), and then follow the list of commands and keyboard shortcuts for laptops, rather than the one for desktops.
hth,
Ollie

Re: very good news about audio conversion soft ware
For example, the most used EAC, but for some people it can be so complicated because you need to use object navigation to do some things like tagging tracks from cddb, but it is usable (I use it).
An other option to change from one format to an other is audacity.

Re: very good news about audio conversion soft ware
What is the syntax. I assume you do this in
the run dialog. Do you space between the name of the file and the
/nocandy? As I recall in DOS, you space before adding this sort of syntax,
what is called a switch in DOS.

Re: very good news about audio conversion soft ware
There is no reason not to use Media Player but as
is the case with some other Microsoft utilities, you get more settings and
options when ripping with some other programs. I haven't looked into the
various options CDEX gives you, but years ago, I used the program and I saw
them. One option was and probably still is, the ability to use more than
one Internet CD data base for getting information about the cd when it is
named. Another is jitter, (spelling) something I haven't looked into and
don't know anything about. I think it might be fair to compare the Windows
Media Player ripping ability to the Microsoft zip utility. It does the job
and it may well meet the needs of many users. But for users with more
varied needs and who, for some reason, want to control more of what is being
done, a more advanced program is likely desired and desirable.

Hi, Did you download it from the web site I gave you? I just downloaded it to make sure that I had the latest copy and it installed fine. Make sure you have the custom install radio button checked on two different pages. I am going to look on ninite.com to see if it is available for download on there and let you know. It is so easy to use and so powerful, that I really want you to get this. Take care and talk in a minute.

Re: need a free and accessible file converter which can convert wma or webm files to mp3
Hi, Here are the steps to use Free Make Video Converter. This is easy. If you want to convert a video from Youtube, Play the youtube video, and press ALT+D and then CTRL+C to copy the URL of the video to the clipboard. Then, Launch Free Make, and tab through a lot of things until you hear paste URL Button and press enter. It is pasted at that point. Just entering on that button pastes the URL for you. then, tab a bunch to the format you want and press the space bar on that button. It will only take about a minute to convert the video. After it is converted. The converted file will be then saved in your videos folder in File Explorer. You can play it with your media player that you use on your computer. Now, if you have a file already on your computer that you want to convert to another format do the following. Launch Free Make. Tab to the button that says video, audio, or what ever the file is that you want to convert, and press the space bar on the correct button. Then, you can brows for the file on your computer and enter on open. Then, tab to what ever format you want to convert that file into and press the space bar on the format button you want like MP4, for example. The file will be converted and saved in the new file format. I also noticed that a folder called Free Make was put in my documents folder in File Explorer. Do not worry about that and just leave it there. That is all there is to using Free Make Video Converter. I hope you enjoy this, and let me know if you have any questions. That is neat that you can convert Youtube videos so easily with this Free Make video converter. Take care.

Re: how to tell NVDA to read series of number in single digits.
Here are the details of the dictionary entry I have for NVDA to have it read out all numbers as single digits.
Pattern match: (\d)(?=\d)
replacement - including trailing space character: \1
Comment is: numbers as single digits
And, most important, the match type is regular expressions.

The newer more experimental table fixed the problem of emdashes being replaced by eight cells of nonsense that took up more space than necessary, and formatting representations, and missed contractions...

Hi,
The reason the driver was still trying to do something was that I had used the old snapshot I had in conjunction with my display to read for a bit, then had disconnected the display without resetting the "display" setting in Braille Settings to "No Braille". As I said, it lasted longer, but still locked up at the most inconvenient time...
Can I have a link to this master snapshot? And is this building toward the next release or are some things not ready for that yet? If the former, when is the next release? Is it some time this month, or next?

It just happened AGAIN. This time, with no Braille Display plugged in, but still in Word. My sister described what she saw as "It's circling and the screen is foggy," so I'm assuming it was hanging. It took longer
than normal to shut down, and longer than normal to start up properly, and apparently Windows Explorer lagged for a few seconds. I don't know how to recover my writing (I tried one of the previous times this happened by restoring the auto recovery file from the Recycle bin but it
didn't work...).
Anyways, here's the log. I hope this time I can get an answer for why this is happening. I'm getting seriously concerned at this point.

If the master snapshots fixed it, does this mean the next release (which is hopefully coming sometime this month or next) will have the fix? Because if so, I can just change the configuration so I have to connect it manually when I want to use it, which isn't a problem as I usually have to re-activate the Braille settings if I have to disconnect the display for one reason or another, or if the computer's put to sleep. If the fix is implemented next release, I'll adjust the configuration again. If it does happen again despite this measure, I will try Gene's
method, although I suspect it will be fine. Thank you everyone
for all
your help and tips, and at least I know how to retrieve old log messages now! :D

I don't think its malware, reading the thread it sounds like the braill table part of nvda and the master snapshots are supposed to have now fixed it. Its been a while since I had a computer with one of those displays. fartoo expensive for the low usage I have. Brian

Hi there: Do you think your computer could have mellwhere to cause this freezing?

Why wouldn't my workaround accomplish the same end but more
easily.
Because most of the keyboard is frozen when this freeze
happens. The
only thing that works is the windows key and some function keys.
