Another difference between the Codefactory and Tifflatechnia versions is that with Codefactory, if you want to use it on a portable copy, you have to activate it on every single PCs you want to use, and deactivate it afterwords, whereas with Tifflatechnia version, you only need to activate your USB/portable drive and it will work. I've tested this on computers in my college and Tifflatechnia version worked very well, without reactivation.

Very unlikely, and if it works with windows, then it should work just fine with NVDA.

If short cut commands don't work on your keyboard using the numpad, your keyboard may not be compatible for thatkind of use. Are you using a laptop, by any chance?
If so, you should set your keyboard layout to "Laptop"

Hi, First, I would like to say thank you very much to everyone who helped organize the NVDA Con 2016. Though I was unable to participate in all sessions due to classes and other matters, I still enjoy participating nonetheless, in all sessions that I was able to participate in. NVDA Con, in my opinion, is not just a chance for NVDA users and developers to meet, but it is also an opportunity to get to know each other amongst NVDA users from around the world. To be honest, right after the conference, or rather during the conference, I have an idea in mind. If NVDA Con International was able to be successfully organized, I should be able to try to organize a NVDA Con Thailand, or even better, NVDA Con Asean. But I'll most likely start with NVDA Con Thailand. The first step, of course, is to conduct a feasibility study, mainly finding out how many NVDA users are there in Thailand. If the study reveals that there are enough NVDA users in Thailand to make a NVDA Con worthwhile, then comes the big part, planning and organizing the conference itself. As it is mainly for Thailand, there is a choice between physical venues and Teamtalk, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Perhaps even a NVDA workshop for Thais who are not familiar with NVDA is possible as one of the programs in the conference, if a feasibility study reveals that it is worthwhile organizing.

Hi Rosemarie,
I hear that oddity with his messages too. What is happening is that the spaces between words are some sort of unrecognizable character--unrecognizable to screen readers and certain synthesizers I would guess. I think it may be because he is sending his messages from an IPhone or other IOS device. It is interpreting his spaces between words as some sort of character.

Re: nvda line number for deaf and blind
Hello,
Actually NVDA does not ALLOWS to show line numbers on display braille.
If it is necessary, a solution could be an add-on
with a shortcut to toggle the report of line number.
Cheers.

Hello
If you press Ctrl and the Down Arrow or Ctrl and the up arrow, NVDA moves by paragraph. I am not sure about the place markers though.
Most of the navigation keys you used in MS Office with JAWS are the same in NVDA.

Re: Visual Studio add-on.
Pawel Urbanski <pawel@...>
Hi Mohammad, I will try to think fo a workaround using texisting add-on code. I spent some time reading the documentation for ENVDTE, which is the automation library for Visual Studio exposed via a COM interface.
Do you think we could have a Skype call some time soon and plan some work?

Hi Mohammad, Thanks for your reply. Thinking about the first issue with the intelisense... Since we are overwriting the control, can't we use the value of the suggested completion and use NVDA's speech / braille functions to say it / display it?
I think, we could also file a bug report to Microsoft and describe the issue behind it.

hello, actually, writing an app module for visual studio is on my to do list. regarding the problems you mentioned with Intelisense: don't know if most users will find it better without announcing the positional info of each possible completion menu item. the problem here also is not NVDA, the problem is how the list / menu item is exposed. the name of the menu item includes that positional info. regarding second problem: yes, i think that it is better for us all to not have that lengthy announcement after the completion list is closed.

The new project wizard is quite OK ofr me. I am using Windows 10 64-bit. Or maybe I am skipping some elements without knowing they are on the screen since NVDA is not getting them either.
I like VS for the Intelisense support, which is very convinient in comparason to Eclipse. You just start typing and get the list of suggestions without dancing by pressing Control+Space as it happens with Eclipse.

Dear Group, I am currently working using Visual Studio 2015 - the latest update. Since Microsoft introduced the Visual Studio Community edition, which used to be Professional edition, we got a very nice IDE. There is an NVDA add-on, which is installed by default that enhances NVDA and VS interoperability. The features are rather complete, but I found 2 issues: 1. When Intelisense with code suggestions popup is read, NVDA keeps reading the number of items in a edit combo / list, which can get very annoying / flustrating. --- What is the way using code to silence reading this attribute? NVDA has the opption of not reading item possition information. Can we apply it to individual controls?
2. When leaving the previously mentioned Intelisense popup, NVDA keeps reading the window type / title, which is way too verbose when you are coding and keep jumping from the editor to Intelisense all the time. --- Can we control this from the add-on code?
I am not familiar with Python on the daily basis, but can find someone to fix the code or do it myself if the changes are minor and can simply follow the documentation and do little trial and error.
Thanks for any hints and tips, Pawel

Re: Putting Basic Training for NVDA manual on to DAISY player
Hi Lindy,
Sorry, I meant "Text Files", not notes.
Initially it didn't see the ePub file in my DTB folder either. I just tried again and it did see it, read the title, gave a "Media error 1" then a "Book error 1" and then says 0 titles. I'm just testing my SD card to make sure there isn't a physical problem with it, otherwise it's something to do with either the way the Stream reads ePub books or the specific book.

Quentin.
