Not noticed any change to Espeak here, but then I use Quincy and it may not show up.
Sometimes you can get different sounds by switching the thing away from sound mapper to the bespoke driver for the soune hardware you use.
as for Braille, I cannot say, though others on this list have claimed that the master snap has a better version. As a Matter of interest, have you tried the next snasnapshot as although there are dire warnings about this, the current one seems to be pretty stable.

I wonder if its possible to import the old table into the newer version? Youwould need to ask this on the development list as its probably a bit advanced for here.

The newer more experimental table fixed the problem of emdashes being replaced by eight cells of nonsense that took up more space than necessary, and formatting representations, and missed contractions...

The reason the driver was still trying to do something was that I had
used the old snapshot I had in conjunction with my display to read for a
bit, then had disconnected the display without resetting the "display"
setting in Braille Settings to "No Braille". As I said, it lasted
longer, but still locked up at the most inconvenient time...


Can I have a link to this master snapshot? And is this building toward
the next release or are some things not ready for that yet? If the
former, when is the next release? Is it some time this month, or next?

then go
into the bios and see what can be the problem. I'd use format as the

resort. Or if you just want to do it and get it over with. then go

It just happened AGAIN. This time, with no Braille Display plugged in,
but still in Word. My sister described what she saw as "It's circling
and the screen is foggy," so I'm assuming it was hanging. It took longer
than normal to shut down, and longer than normal to start up properly,
and apparently Windows Explorer lagged for a few seconds. I don't know
how to recover my writing (I tried one of the previous times this
happened by restoring the auto recovery file from the Recycle bin but it
didn't work...).

again. If it does happen again despite this measure, I will try Gene's

The reason you got infected you did notuse an ad blocker on the site. Often as we all know, adverts sent are notunder the control of thatsite,and what theytend to doistry toget you todownload an alternative if you are not careful. Using an ad blocker I've never had a virus from file hippo and its the only source I tend to use as Cnet is notorious for dodgycopies though they claim tohave fixed the issue now. Good for them.

When I was running windows me Some one told me nvda worked with 9x, I
couldn't get it to work. Not sure if it does or not. May be using python

and running nvda from source might work.

After a lot of failed attempts, copying the .doc file to $VRtext folder seems to have worked. It seems that the instructions that are in the manual may need to be revised.

You are probably better to use your html file

Your EPUB file probably won't work with your VR stream

X you put the HTML file or EPUB file into your dollar text directory not your DTB directory on your VR stream card

Hello list

I paid for and downloaded Basic Training for NVDA.Zip file and have been working through it.It recommends that the epub file should be put on to a DAISY book player so that one can listen to it and work through the activities on your PC. Unfortunately, I have been unable to do this with my second generation VR stream. When I unzip the file and arrow down to the epub file, it states that this is encrypted. Is this why it does not register on the VR stream’s $VR dtb folder when I try to paste it in with either JAWS or NVDA? I have not dealt with encrypted files before and would appreciate some advice/help.

Here is the summary on iTunes web site:

You can import all of the music you already have into iTunes, you do not have to buy a thing, plus, you get over a thousand radio stations and you can subscribe to hundreds of pod casts for free in the store. If enough of you get interested, I will do a tutorial on navigating the store. Also, iTunes has to be set up a certain way for it to be very accessible. after you install it, the first thing you want to do is to press the key command:
CTRL+SHIFT+B
This will allow you to set up the three columns of artist, albums, and songs that I was talking about.
Freedomscientific has a few good free webinars on iTunes. Using NVDA makes no difference, because all of the concepts are the same. I would start there.

I use iTunes for many reasons, but I do not buy any songs from Apple. Here
are some of the reasons I use iTunes: I have my entire music library
